Maitland, just 2 or 3 miles west of my grandparents’ hometown of Graham.

Husband of Lura C. Lisbona.

Spouse: Lura C. COX Lisbona
Father: Manuel Lisbona
Mother: Carmen LaLINDE Lisbona
From the Blue Grass Mecca II-submitted by Marjorie Lisbona

Dr. Francisco LaLinde Lisbona was born of Spanish descent in Bacolod Occidental Negroes, Phillipine Islands to Manuel and Carmen LaLinde Lisbona. With a desire for a dental education, young F.L. came to the United States with an army officer in 1905 at the age of 17. He lived in the home of Dr. E.W. Myers and acquired his education in Kansas City, Missouri. He did not speak English at the time and his schooling had been brief so he set about the task of learning the new language and furthering his education. By 1913 he had completed grade, high school, and dental college, after which he taught one year at the college, the Kansas City Western Dental College.
Upon inquiry he found that Maitland seemed a good spot for a permanent location so he came here in May, 1914, and located on the second floor of the Farmer's Bank where he practiced for forty years.

In 1950 he purchased the L.D. Summer's residence on Fourth Street and remodeled it into four modern apartments, which is the only modern apartment building in the town. During World War II, Dr. Lisbona opened a dental office in Mound City, Mo., where he practiced two days a week until three years ago (1952), when the building was destroyed by fire. In Dec., 1954, he moved his dental office from the Farmer's Bank Bldg. into one of the units of his apartment building, where he had an up-to-date office and enjoyed his work.

In 1934, Dr. Lisbona brought talking pictures to Maitland. He rented the Opera House where P.L. Bohart had shown silent movies and what had started as a hobby, turned into a business reality. He purchased the vacant lots not of the present post office and built an air dome where he showed pictures during the summer months.
Dr. Lisbona was quite popular with the young ladies of the community and finally succumbed to the charms of Miss Lura Cox, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs. A.J. Cox. They resided on Maple Avenue having been married on June 24, 1919.

They had three children, Anita Frances (Mrs. Roy Wilson Beal) of near St. Louis, Mo. , Alvan Myers, of Kansas City, Mo., and F.L Lisbona Jr., also of Kansas City, Mo.
Dr. Lisbona was instrumental in founding the Phillippine Club in Kansas City in 1913.

Dr. Lisbona died Monday morning, June 2, 1969, at a St. Joseph hospital following a long illness. Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, in the Maitland Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. R.G. Deeds officiating. Burial was in the Maitland Cemetery. Survivors are his wife: Lura, of the home; F.B. Lisbona Jr., Des Moines, Iowa, and Alvan Lisbona, Kansas City, Kan.; one daughters, Mr. R.W. (Anita) Beal, St. Louis; a half-brother, Dr. Joseph L. Sanchez, Falls City, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. Anita Franden, Bacolodo City, Phillippines; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

From what I can tell, they aren't empty.

They are occupied by hot twenty-something gals who almost certainly can't afford the place on their own, as they spend their days walking around downtown in yoga pants walking their yappy dogs.  So, yeah....they're owned by sugardaddies of some variety, and Rooskies may well be among them.

Aviation full circle.  First, there were the guys watching the troops move.  Then the guys dropping grenades from airplanes.  Then there were bigger airplanes dropping bigger bombs/grenades, then there were planes just to shoot down all those other planes.   Drones watched the troops move, then dropped grenades....well you know the rest.

  • 150 fuel trucks

Seems to me the prolonged war strategy is designed to be a massive drain on Russia's economy and manpower, with the opportunity to undermine their regime stability.   Ukrainians are paying a price for it.  Wish they could get a bit more action than the drip level and have contingencies in place for when the grain deal expired.

Seems like we've accomplished most of the attrition of Russian forces part, yet we've still drug out F-16s, Abrams, ATACMS, etc that would allow them to reclaim most of their territory.

Don't worry guys, the Ukrainians are finally getting the tanks like they requested. Dude in the first tweet calls them Challenger 1 tanks. They're actually Chieftain tanks from the 1960s.
