That beach head across the dnipro is still there and steady growing. That really appears to be a soft underbelly if they can get heavy equipment across.

Reports today that AFU has gotten some armor across.

A Russian battalion comprised of Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) will likely deploy to #Ukraine in the near future in an apparent violation of the Geneva Convention on Prisoners of War. https://t.co/ApY0dgri6Z https://t.co/NcM2n5XR1v

I'm guessing they will be purely fodder and not given weapons.

I hope the orcs are stupid enough to give them weapons though.

Remember that Storm Shadow strike last week?  Three colonels.

Apparently he died together with 2 other colonels in a Ukrainian strike against a VDV command post (the one that was rumored to be hit after Teplinskiy arrived)
⚡️ Colonel Галкин Александр Николаевич (Galkin Alexander Nikolaevich), operational duty officer, deputy chief of the Airborne Forces Command Control Centre, was KIU on 1 November ’23 by a Storm Shadow strike on the Dnipro Group of Forces HQ on the Arabat Spit.

Answer: Lawyers, teachers, and stoners

Question: Who are the Russians getting killed in Ukraine?

(it's not really a joint)

Captain Лозин Максим Александрович (Lozin Maxim Alexandrovich), a graduate of the Faculty of Law, Kursk State University, was eliminated in Ukraine on 30 October ’23.https://t.co/Kg4ZoLBKho
49 yo mobilized teacher, Lieutenant Ионов Андрей Николаевич (Ionov Andrey Nikolaevich), was KIU on 5 November ’23. In 1998 he graduated from the Military University of Radioelectronics, speciality “Command and Engineering Radio Communication”.https://t.co/VKn8Gxidwr
And no, it’s probably not a joint, it’s a classic papirosa, i think.https://t.co/FX4imRXGV1

Tatars getting killed.  Relatives of the men in his unit wanted to know why they were placed on the front line instead of a defensive line as promised.  Guess their recruiters lied to them as well.

Mobilized Senior Lieutenant Хоркунов Виктор Александрович (Khorkunov Viktor Alexandrovich) from Tatarstan, commander of a motor rifle platoon, 2nd Battalion, 1234th Regiment, 4th Guards Tank Division, was KIU on 18 October ’23 near Orlianka, Kharkiv Oblasthttps://t.co/FM6S6fBQCX
They gathered symbolically in front of the statue of Lenin 🤦‍♂️

Imagine the condition of some of this equipment. Yeah, I am sure Brazil and Belarus really keep up with maintenance.

This would not necessarily mean that the equipment is in good shape, but the Russians (like us), frequently require that Russian techs be on-site to do maintenance on a lot of their high-value tech.  Really common with aircraft. I don’t know the precise deals with these countries but it would not be surprising if they had factory techs doing key work.

Maybe.

But regarding your parenthetical, if I’ve learned anything during this debacle, it’s that the Russians are not like us. So maybe it’s “required” that a tech be on site. But if I’m Yuri, I’m probably banging whores and not working on Yaks. Or only putting in token face time because I’m getting paid to spend my time selling the parts on the black market.

I’m also struggling to come up with what Russian equipment the Brazilians have because they buy a ton of stuff used from us and Western Europe. Helicopters maybe?

Egypt and Pakistan (and to a somewhat lesser degree, Brazil) are major American allies that get a ton of military aid, including technical assistance with things like maintenance.  It would not at all surprise me if the equipment in those countries is in significantly better shape than the stuff that stayed in Russia.

We tend to sell maintenance packages with specific equipment. And it still is an issue. Either way buying back their shit is funny.

1/ Russia's state-owned gas company, Transneft, has conscripted hundreds of its staff to fight against "European evil spirits" in Ukraine. However, despite the company's vast wealth, the fighters have been poorly trained and equipped, and have died in large numbers. ⬇️

Good twelve part read.  The fatalism of the average Soviet/Russian man is mind blowing.   They go to war without equipment or training or food after they’re tricked into it, and do it.

Our patriots refuse to go to Cabela’s if they have to wear a mask.

This made me visualize our natural gas provider having its workers mobilized.  I don't think the results would be all that great.  I can promise you this, they will arrive late, they will get confused by the paper work, and it will take six of them and a supervisor to turn on a meter.

Our preppers, who supposedly prepared for being off the grid and were going to fight any invaders, were melting down over not being able to eat at Chilis or get a haircut at Supercuts.

You just have to remind yourself that the Russians were stealing toilets and washing machines.
