He did have to spend the rest of the invasion reporting from Kuwait.  I'm assuming these Russians who are putting these videos on the air will be sent to join the meat waves.

I'm sure the Russians would take that in a heartbeat, they'd continue to surround the now cold Zaporizhzhia plant that is damaged, for a hot Kursk plant that they are dependent upon.  So yeah, this ain't in the cards.

As a reminder, conscripts aren't supposed to take part in active combat, but perhaps the Russians are trying to get around this by saying they aren't supposed to take part in combat outside of the country.

According to Russian Telegram channels, panic reigns in the border areas of Russia's Kursk region, where fighting has been going on all week.

‼️Russian media have introduced a new term: "voluntary evacuation".

️ there are no police, firefighters, medics or representatives of the Russian administration;

️Russian settlements, according to official information, have been abandoned by more than 76,000 people;

️ most people left on their own, as there was no organized evacuation, contrary to the Russian authorities' statements;

️ depopulation of villages became a catalyst for rampant Russian looting among the remaining population.

"Stores are being looted, there is a collapse in Korenevo, Magnit has just been robbed. No water, no gas, no light. There was no organized evacuation, and if there was any, why haven't we in Lobanovka [Korenevsky district] heard anything about it?" - a local resident wrote.

The situation is similar in other Russian border municipalities. Residents say that representatives of the administration have provoked a collapse in the border areas themselves by leaving people to their fate.

At present, the administration of Korenevsky district of Russian Kursk region cannot be reached. People are forced to self-organize in order to protect themselves and their property and perform the functions of state and law enforcement authorities.

️ Residents of Kursk region who were affected will be paid 10,000 rubles each, that's about $100. Apparently, Russia has money only for contract soldiers and for war.

Russia is gradually returning into the 1990s.

The largest extent I could find so far is east of the village of Sheptukhovka, almost 25 km from the Ukrainian border. I think that the Russian claims of AFU being up to 35 km inside Russia are relatively correct.

The Ukrainian thrust into Russian territory is so substantial that the Ukrainian artillery has to be deployed inside Russia in order to stay in firing range of the front line. The situation in this sector shows what Russians were likely trying to achieve in Kharkiv region. They wanted to have tubed artillery in range of Kharkiv City, but then ended up being bogged down in Vovchansk.

What would you do if you saw this coming towards you?

I believe Conscripts are not allowed to be stationed outside the country.  Of course Putin illegally claimed to “annex” the parts of Ukraine they invaded in 2014 and 2022, so that allows conscripts to be in Ukraine territory that Russia controls.

Of that I have no doubt, from one side and definitely a level of propaganda.  However, there are a couple of striking things about it.

1.  It looks almost identical to the breakout from 2 years ago, in terms of staging and maneuver.

2.  The Ukrainians are better equipped this go around and appear to have gotten better at it, while the Russians appear to have an abysmally slow response, and have gotten worse at defending it.  Additionally, unlike the eastern breakout of 2 years ago, where the Russians had significant reserves behind their lines, in this case, in this area, their reserves are minimal.

Lots of things could be going on

  • They are only using conscripts, because all available trained/experienced manpower is in Ukraine.
  • They are hurting for manpower a lot more than expected
  • Tying into the above, they are not mobilizing as many people for some reason or more people have been injured or killed in Ukraine than we know about
  • Their logistics situation is far worse than expected, and the few times they’ve put together convoys it’s ended poorly.
  • Their aircraft situation is far worse than we realized.  If they have 100 aircraft of a certain type on paper, maybe they only have like 25 flying, which is why they rely on glide bombs and cruise missiles that keep their aircraft out of range of Ukrainian forces.  They supposedly have fighters based at the Kursk airport, but we don’t see them.  Were they going to wait until Ukraine was on the outskirts of Kursk and within range of Ukrainian MANPADS?
  • While Ukrainian forces are in Russia, Russia continues to launch cruise missiles into civilian areas of Ukraine.  That’s pretty stunning - either they are avoiding the optics of launching cruise missiles against their own territory ( I would think Ukrainian forces running around inside of Russia is  worse) or their missiles are shit for accuracy and can’t be relied upon.

edit: I wonder if Ukraine has mobilized more people than they let on, and clearly these are some of their best troops, which were probably NATO-trained.

Also Russian social media influencers are pushing the narrative that NATO planned this invasion and that NATO is apart of it, preparing the Russian populace for some kind of defeat or long drawn-out fiasco.

I think Prigozhin could have made it to Moscow, and that was a year ago it feels like.

Pretty interesting.

1- How soon do the UA start putting explosive charges on these? The USSR did it with real dogs in WW2.

2- How soon until a branch of the SPCA complains and says these are real dogs, thus should not be used in combat?

3- When does Elon start making them so all the CT bro's can have one in the back seat?

I would get one. A dog, not a CT.

At this point, I'm wondering if the plan all along was to destroy the LNG station in Kursk, capture the Kursk NP plant, and trap the Northern Russian front by cutting/capturing Belgorod.

A few important points, Natural Gas (NG), Natural Gas Liquids (NGL), and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) are all related, but they are much different from each other, and the terms Natural Gas & LNG should not be used interchangeably.

Natural Gas Liquids are removed from the produced gas stream and are used for rural heating (propane) and as feed stocks to petrochemical plants and blending stocks in refinerieries for motor gasoline.

Natural Gas is processed in plants, the NGL removed, and the remaining gas (residue gas ~ pure methane) is transported via long haul pipeline networks that criss cross the country. The term "natural gas" is used to represent produced at the wellhead as well as gas used by end use consumers, though those are very different forms of of the same thing. Natural gas is transported at high pressure ~ 1,000 PSI and ambient temperatures, where the pressure in the cities is reduced within the municipalities to the point that local distribution is on the order of ounces of pressure (~ 1/4 PSI).

Liquified Nat Gas is processed natural gas that is cool and liquified ( −260 °F, ~ 4 PSI) in world class LNG Plants, and transported via HUGE LNG tankers. LNG, as transported, IS NOT USED by consumers. LNG is regassified at at equally large facilities, where the gas is warmed to ambient  temperature and compressed to high pressure (~1,000) for further distribution in long haul pipelines. The expansive quality of LNG is a 600 fold increase/decrease in volume (the mother of all fuel air bombs).

Natural gas is transported in buried pipelines (generally 10" to 48" diameter) while LNG is transported via huge LNG Tankers.

Nothing going on with Ukraine's push into southern Russia has anything to do with LNG.

23 hours ago, ABSR said:

I think controlling the LNG station is nice and they could threaten destruction, but I don’t think they will as the supply is to NATO nations and I believe the pipeline runs through Ukraine held territory so in theory they could have already destroyed it if they wanted.

The Urengoy gas pipeline traversing from Siberia, Russia to Western Europe (Soviet Bloc) via Ukraine (~ 2,800 miles, built in 1974) was the largest capacity Russian pipeline until the Nordstream pipelines were built ~ 2011 (to Germany & western Europe).

Ukraine basically "controls" the pipeline once it crossed the border.  The "gas meter station" in the recent press is, at a minimum, a control room of sorts with instrumentation of operate and control the pipeline.  There are typically large compressor stations along the pipelines (+/- ~ 150 miles) to boost the pipe pressure. Not sure if there is anything like that near Sudzha.

23 hours ago, BamaATL said:

They blew up the LNG station 3 days ago, so that part of the deal is done.

21 hours ago, BamaATL said:

Only unconfirmed rumors at this point.  I would imagine that if this were in fact true, there would be pictures of it at this point.  Also, considering that it is generally agreed upon by both sides that Ukraine currently has control of the area, there isn't a reason to yet destroy that, rather you could turn it off.  Is it wired to be blown up, if the Ukrainians have to leave, my bet would be absolutely.

I thought I read they took control of the station. There would be no reason to blow up "idle" facilities, whether they be  meter stations or compressor stations, etc. , unless they are going scorched earth.

Once the pipelines enter Ukraine, they would be controlled by Ukraine.

The Belarusian Ministry of Defense is transporting heavy military equipment, including tanks, armored personnel carriers and artillery, to the border with Ukraine. The equipment is being loaded onto trains for delivery to designated bases.

A Ukrainian serviceman already commented:

"I looked at the deployment of Belarusian tank units to our borders... What can I say, there is no EW or barbecues on the tanks, the crews have 100% no combat experience, so in case of emergency, it's a job for a few hours for one of our FPV strike company's."
