There's so much shit flooding social media right now, but I've seen a few of the more "respectable" types wondering if Russia has culminated in The Donbas.  It's still staggering that they were taking over a thousand casualties/dead every day there.

Would help explain why they are unable to do anything serious about Kursk. Speaking of Kursk, some really "respectable" types all seem to think that Ukraine will hold the area they currently have in Kursk, and build up their forces there, and then do something big next year when the weather is more favorable. Nobody can agree upon whether they go north/west or south/east.  If they go south/east, they have Belgorod in their sights.

According to my maps, Ukrainian forces control 1,150 square kilometer (445 square miles) in Russian territory. This is more than all Russian gains in Ukraine in this whole year. Ukrainian Army Sources say that they hold 1,300 square kilometers in Russian lands.

Maybe @PTINS gets to see more stuff burn.

This doesn't make much sense for a railroad depot unless it had a helluva lot of fuel right at the depot (it seemed like they kept the tanks away), or there was ammo being loaded.

Or they hit the oil depot near the railroad.

Ukrainian forces are increasingly successful in clearing the skies from Russian drones. In this video we see the elimination of the following drones:

  • - 36x ZALA
  • - 7x Supercam
  • - 5x Orlan
  • - 1x Lancet

This will certainly create severe operational problems for the Russian invasion.

They practically shot blind and while the Russian drones cost 5 and even 6 digit numbers in Dollar, Ukrainian drones cost only a fraction of it.

I read thru translation that there is some sort of plastics manufacturing right next to this area as well.  It immediately made me think of when the crackhead here in Atlanta burned down the freeway a few years ago by catching that on fire (it was plastics for underground fiber optic cable being stored by AT&T under the overpass).  Bottom line, that shit burned so hot the fire department had no choice but essentially let it burn out on its own.

I honestly believe that if we just publicly announced a get the fuck out date, and made sure that average Russians had access to the message, well over half the Russian Army would desert, including most of the officers.  The officers damn well know they haven't seen shit compared to the thunder we'd bring, and even the dumbest deep down know that as well.

In order to pull this sort of flex though, it can't be a bluff.

in 1922 USSR and Germany signed a big treaty opening the door for all of that.

The Treaty of Rapallo was an agreement signed on 16 April 1922 between the German Reich and Soviet Russia under which both renounced all territorial and financial claims against each other and opened friendly diplomatic relations.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Rapallo_(1922)

A major point was both nations agreed no payments to each other. So anti-Versailles. Interesting is Germany did not inflict that much damage on Russian Territory. Articles 4 and 5 are interesting.

Article 4
Both Governments have furthermore agreed that the establishment of the legal status of those nationals of the one Party, which live within the territory of the other Party, and the general regulation of mutual, commercial and economic relations, shall be effected on the principle of the most favoured nation. This principle shall, however, not apply to the privileges and facilities which the Russian Socialist Federal Soviet Republic may grant to a Soviet Republic or to any State which in the past formed part of the former Russian Empire.

Article 5
The two Governments shall co-operate in a spirit of mutual goodwill in meeting the economic needs of both countries. In the event of a fundamental settlement of the above question on an international basis, an exchange of opinions shall previously take place between the two Governments. The German Government, having lately been informed of the proposed agreements of private firms, declares its readiness to give all possible support to these arrangements and to facilitate their being carried into effect.

https://europecentenary.eu/a-german-russian-secret-agreement-the-treaty-of-rapallo/

At first, nothing seemed wrong with this amicable agreement. But behind it, there was a secret arrangement that would allow Germany to break the obligations of Versailles. It would be Germany’s first step towards remilitarization, and it would end with a conflict even bloodier than the one that had just ended.

….

According to the secret agreements, the USSR would allow Germany to train her soldiers on soviet ground. In return, Germany would send to Russia officers to train the new Red Army. At first, Germany seemed to gain more from this arrangement.

https://www.uni-wuppertal.de/en/transfer/science-communication/jahr100wissen-/-100-years-ago/100-years-ago-in-2022/the-treaty-of-rapallo/

Mangold-Will: Contrary to contemporary rumors, the treaty did not contain a secret additional protocol on military cooperation. Rather, as I said, this was negotiated in advance and in the surrounding area. Consequently, the economic cooperation agreed in the treaty mainly concerned activities that de facto circumvented the military restrictions of the Versailles Treaty. A well-known example is the construction of an aircraft factory by Junkers-Werke and the establishment of a flight school in Russia, where not only aircraft were built with German assistance, but German and Russian pilots were also trained for military use. Thus, in practice, the buildup of a German air force, which was expressly forbidden by the Treaty of Versailles, took place in Russia between 1925 and 1933.

So tank, aircraft, chemical weapons etc manufactured in Russia for Germany and trained on by both in Russia in order to get around Versailles restrictions on German military.

And they both tried out their weapons in Spain. Yet, there was never a major engagement between the two on the Peninsula.

It has always stuck with me that the NAZI's and Stalin's USSR were so fucking common, yet we use them now as far left vs. far right. Nah, they are both totalitarian assholes.

That's the smart thing, but a lot of the troops that are lining up against the Ukrainians are either conscripts that don't want to be there and have very little training for this kind of fighting (and are ill-equipped for it), or they are border or naval guards/troops that also have very little training for this kind of fighting and also don't want to be there - Ben Hodges and a few others have talked about how Putin screwed everything up by putting this under the umbrella of the FSB, because it was politically expedient to declare it a small terrorist operation that the FSB should deal with.  The Russian military is more than happy to leave the FSB twisting in the wind and keep their main troops/mobilized away from the FSB.

It also almost seems like the Ukrainians are the only soldiers that want to be in the Kursk region.

Russia has lost 625,260 troops since the beginning of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces reported on Sept. 8.This number includes 1,270 casualties Russian forces suffered over the past day.

Even if it's half that, 312,000 troops killed and wounded is nuts.

According to the report, Russia has also lost 8,636 tanks, 16,897 armored fighting vehicles, 24,218 vehicles and fuel tanks, 17,804 artillery systems, 1,180 multiple launch rocket systems, 942 air defense systems, 368 airplanes, 328 helicopters, 14,864 drones, 28 ships and boats, and one submarine.

Interestingly, I thought English was a notoriously difficult language to learn. He said Danish is harder.

English is one of the easier languages out there. This is especially true for anyone who speaks another Germanic language or a Romance one. Granted, our spelling is fucked up and totally inconsistent, but our vocabulary is going to be familiar to any Germanic/Romance language speaker (because we've borrowed so much from others) and our grammar is super simplified, especially verb conjugations.

There's a reason English has become today's international lingua franca, and it's not only because of America's cultural impact globally.

Y'all might recall the Russian drone that was shot down in Belarus. It seems it was part of a larger "swarm" that all flew over Ukraine first. But this one in Latvia seems to be an outlier, which looks to have come in from a much more westerly direction, flying from over western Ukraine. Another (mentioned below - see 2nd link) landed in Romania.

I'll admit that this confuses me and am grasping for straws to understand the source for the last two drones. Is it possible the latter ones took off in Transnistria?

Russian drone crashes in Rēzekne district of Latvia

A Russian drone that flew into Latvia’s airspace from Belarus has crashed in Latvia.

The Latvian Ministry of Defense reported on this.

It is reported that the drone crashed on September 7 in the Rēzekne district. The incident’s circumstances are still under investigation, but according to preliminary findings, it is a Russian drone.

The Latvian Armed Forces tracked the drone’s flight and determined its crash site.

The Latvian Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the country’s security forces act under established procedures, including informing the NATO command.

Responsible officials, law enforcement agencies, and NATO countries in the region have been informed of the incident.

“This situation confirms that we need to continue the work we have begun to strengthen Latvia’s eastern border, including developing air defense capabilities and electronic warfare capabilities that will allow us to limit the activities of UAVs for various purposes,” Defense Minister Andris Sprūds stated.

The Latvian Defense Ministry notes that given Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Latvia is strengthening the protection of its land borders, airspace, and territorial waters, and the national armed forces are strengthening their air defense capabilities on the eastern border.

NATO allies also conduct air patrols over the Baltic states on a rotating basis.

The Latvian defense did not disclose the type of drone. Still, given the information [This is a Telegram channel link.] from the Belaruski Hajun monitoring project, it can be assumed that it was a Shahed kamikaze drone.

On the night of September 6-7, a large group of drones flew into Belarus. One of them entered the Hrodna region and flew as far as Korelichi and Novogrudok, heading towards the border with Lithuania. It is possible that it passed through Lithuanian airspace.

This drone could have flown over Belarus to the north for about 200 kilometers, but it is unknown what happened to it afterward.

Militarnyi recently reported that neighboring Romania is examining the sites where a Russian Shahed that flew in from Ukraine on the night of September 8 could have crashed.

Per my part-Danish wife, just learn Norwegian then get a shot of novocaine

Our Norwegian friend says “just speak Norwegian like you have a potato in your throat.”

Any latin based language is easy for us to learn.

Hungarian is some serious business.

Don't get me started on the 30 very specific ways in German. Thank gawd some combination of the Brits, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, and Normans were all like "Fuck that. Let's streamline this bitch."
