Source: press service for SOF on Facebook

Details: It was reported that SOF operators carried out a series of special operations in Kursk Oblast. During multiple engagements with the enemy, Ukrainian fighters forced Russian troops to surrender.

Around 30 Russian soldiers were killed as a result of the planned and well-coordinated actions.

Meanwhile, Witkoff, who had zero diplomatic experience until a couple of months ago and is the regime's special envoy leading the talks with the Kremlin, proposes giving "ownership" over SE Ukraine to Russia, basically saying we should recognize the rigged elections.

Witkoff first publicly floated the idea of handing over to Russia the four Ukrainian regions - Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson - in the March 21 interview with Carlson.

“They’re Russian-speaking,” he said of the eastern territories. “There have been referendums where the overwhelming majority of the people have indicated that they want to be under Russian rule.”

US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, tells that it has to be determined whether the peace initiative is „doable“. He is talking about a timeframe of days, not even weeks. If it’s not possible to achieve peace, then the US will focus on other issues.

Some are interpreting his comments negatively, but I took it to mean "we're not staying on this fence any longer." So, I see it as a positive that the admin will finally decide whether Russia actually wants a deal or not.

So what’s the plan, finally drop the tariff bomb on em?! That should do it along with the sanctions and a strongly worded Truth post.

Yeah, after hearing more of the context, Rubio's comments are not clear. It is clear that Russia has been the one delaying, while Ukraine has been more engaged. So, does "move on" for Rubio mean move from these peace attempts and on to the next step (stronger sanctions on Russia/ greater (any) support for Ukraine), or does "move on" mean "totally disengage". I think that's probably an open question within the factions of the administration, but we have seen which way those debates have gone over the last few months.

#88684

Russia has no interest in ending the war and Rubio's comments are just signaling US support will get more perilous. There is no upside here.

At this point I would be happy just to keep the current sanctions and remaining aid in the pipeline to Ukraine, not to actively support Russia, and not pressure other NATO members to stop supporting Ukraine. That's the best case scenario to me at this point.

It seems like, because it is the reality, that President Huff & Puff has the attention span of a 5 year old and since this war thing cant be solved with some simple easy solution then he will move on to something more of his liking. And his minions (Marco, etc) will slur the blame on Ukraine, because we cannot upset Mother Russia (who by the way is somehow exempt from all the tariff talk). Also, I don't think we ever really cared about the minerals in the Ukraine, but Prez H&P just wanted to be able to say he made a deal, as that is the really important thing is making announcements.

Carry on - the leaders in the US have lost interest, so just do your little war thing.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered to halt his invasion of Ukraine across the current front line as part of efforts to reach a peace deal with US President Donald Trump, according to people familiar with the matter. https://www.ft.com/content/5d848403-4a15-4592-888b-eb7b754ecb3a

Putin offers to halt invasion of Ukraine along current front line – FT

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, proposed halting the invasion of Ukraine along the entire front line in order to reach a peace agreement with US President Donald Trump, according to the Financial Times.

According to sources from the media outlet, Putin told US President’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, that Russia could abandon its claims to four Ukrainian regions

According to FT, since then, the US has reportedly proposed a peace settlement option that includes recognizing Crimea as Russian and acknowledging Russia’s effective control over parts of four Ukrainian regions.

-----

So supposedly Putin said he would abandon its claims to four Ukrainian regions.

So then the US proposes a peace settlement that recognizes Crimea as Russian and acknowledges Russia's control over those regions.

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/putin-says-russia-lacks-certain-weapons-despite-beefing-up-military-production-2025-04-23/

Putin is just going to ramp up production of weapons and especially drones even more than they already have and throw more meat at the front lines, Russians and non Russian.  I read somewhere else they have 650k troops operating in the war right now. I don’t think they should take a shitty deal, it would be nice if they didn’t have to take one at all but without US weapons they have to be running low on manpower and weapons soon. Any deal definitely needs more access to port areas than Russia is offering now but Putin is never giving up Crimea.

They are not technically there yet, and were always counting on the U.S. being the short term guarantor and even producer.

My prediction: Within 1-2 weeks we will wash our hands of trying to broker peace and more openly align with Russia.  Watch for some truly revolting shit in this space around the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
