More air defense resources for Ukraine announced at Rammstein. They talked about jets, too….but I think that those announcements will be withheld until the training has an end in sight.

⚡️During the meeting, it was announced that the #UK, #Denmark, the Netherlands, and the #US will jointly provide #Ukraine with hundreds of air defense missiles. The transfer has already begun and should be completed in a few weeks. https://t.co/YV9nLVSQgZ

It's worth mentioning the confidence being instilled by the Bradley's in action.

The soldiers know they are safe inside them no matter what the orcs throw at them. That's fucking huge from a morale standpoint.

I'd like to come back to this thought, not just to jerk myself off, but to expound.

The effectiveness of any organization is the belief that all you have to do is complete your own mission, and the confidence that everyone else is doing the same. From a functioning printer to an IFV that protects its occupants.

Ukraine will win!

Slava Ukraine!

Have not appeared at the front yet, and the Ukrainians are pressing at a number of places while seeming to weaken Russian forces significantly. Mignt be that in one way Podolyak is speaking the definte truth.

On 14 June, the Ukrainian Air Force carried out 14 strikes on the areas of Russian troop concentration, while the rocket and artillery units struck 13 more such areas, and 2 HQs, 3 anti-aircraft missile systems, and 3 electronic warfare stations - Ukraine's Military Media Center

I disagree.

You always run the risk of escalating this conflict to a catastrophic degree.

The 'take a step forward and wait', take a step forward and wait', take a step forward and wait' seems to be working and we haven't seen nuclear weapons being used yet or a kinetic war break out in another part of Europe.

Yup.  Given how much $$ oligarchs have lost in wealth because of the special military operation, and given the “voluntary” recent tax on their profits to bail him out of war expenses eating up the budget, he has to throw the oligarchs a few bones to keep them less unhappy.

Seems like the videos I've watched, where the BMPs have really gone boom, they're hitting them in the back doors or right under the turret.  If I remember correctly, their spare gas tanks are in the back door, right?  Perhaps they've loaded these up with some sort of armor piercing/directional charge.  Either way, you wouldn't think a small flying drone would be capable of doing this kind of damage.

Here are pictures I took of John Jones, German aid workers, and local Ukrainian volunteers, on this exact coastline shortly before the strikes. They are in the exact same boats that were shelled by the Russians during rescue work. They posted evidence of their own war crimes.

Could've been an ammo explosion, too. I'm with you, though. Whenever I see explosions that big on these videos, I assume it hit fuel or ammo. Even with artillery strikes, there's a big difference when the target of opportunity has ordnance or fuel supplies. You see it.

Really can’t recommend this interview about the roots and ongoing reasons for India’s reliance on Russia.  This is a big one that I expect to change—slowly— as a result of inefficiencies and sanctions and domestic demand associated with Russia’s defense industry.

https://meduza.io/en/feature/2023/06/15/more-sentimental-than-pragmatic

Quote

If India were not dependent for 70 percent of its military on Russia, if [that number were only] 30 percent, it would be different. I’ll give you an example. Three years ago, in 2020, remember when China and India had a clash at the border, the first thing the Indian defense minister did was to go to Moscow because he wanted to make sure that the Russians would provide spare parts. Now today, the problem is that Russia may not be able to supply all those spare parts, and Russia will not be able to supply the equipment. If India had started a decade ago or even five years ago to move away [from Russian supplies], it would have been better. But India’s current position is: if you’re so dependent on somebody, you cannot stand up and say something. It creates a problem [with] India’s policy of strategic autonomy, which means that India should be able to disagree with somebody [on one issue] and agree [on another]. Right now, India isn’t able to disagree with Russia simply because 70 percent of India’s military equipment is Russian-made.

This is among the many utter poison pills that Putin has shoved down Russia’s throat.

For at least the next generation, if you were involved in risk management for a multinational, would you advice ANY material investment in Russia? They’ve made it plain that their very nature is that of a massive kleptocracy.
For that matter, would you advise doing business with a Russian firm for ANYTHING that you really need, and can’t do without? Russia will use your neediness as a weapon later. They are not and never will be a trading partner you can trust even 1%.
Fuck em. Let em sell potatoes and oil to China, at a marked down price.

Merkava II has a 105mm gun. The Merkava III has a 120mm gun. Both of them use standard NATO ammunition.

The overall design philosophy of the Merkava was to make it easily able to be repaired under battlefield conditions. The turret is placed towards the rear of the tank, with the engine forward, to help protect the crew from shots to the front.

One of the interesting things about the Merkava I and II (the tweet only mentions Merkava II and III being sent) is that the Israelis used it as an IFV when the M113 APC was performing horribly. They took out the ammunition pallets in the rear, and allegedly it could fit 10 people. This was possible because of the clamshell entry/exit doors to the rear.

The best tank for Ukraine are any Leopard 2s they can get ahold of, especially the 2A4 and 2A6 variants. But those are limited. They're getting the 31 Abrams in a few months. I'd say beyond those two, the Merkava will be the best tanks in their service. Frankly, the Merkava III is a really good tank. Especially the later versions. It adds another supply chain in terms of repairs, but a tank is a tank. Especially ones that can fire NATO 105mm and 120mm ammo. You listen to the people fighting in the front lines, and that's the message they keep repeating, "more tanks."

Maybe. I've noticed Ukrainian field ambulances don't have markings on them any more because Russian military was specifically targeting them.

You say it's hard to explain targeting. It's hard to explain a lot of things, but they do them anyway. You just have to know if you're going to help people in a war zone where Russia is involved, there's a good chance they're going to try to kill you. Not accidentally. Purposefully.

I mean, they just blew up a major dam. They stole or destroyed every flotation device and then fired upon people trying to evacuate after news of the dam's destruction got around. They fired on evacuation centers.

Honestly, if you're showing compassion towards others and trying to help the less fortunate, you're a bane to their existence and must die.

This is a culture sick at its very core. It's not new. This is business as usual.

Well…they killed a bunch of Dutch citizens. I’d just suggest that the repercussions are delayed. The Netherlands likely very much wanted to promptly launch retaliatory strikes with F-18s. Now, not many years later…the Dutch are at the front of the pack training Ukrainians to…use F-16s and F-18s (from Australia) to kill Russians.
Don’t fuck with the Dutch. They remember.

Russian state TV talking about Lukashenko's successor.  He must be dying/dead.

Attention, Lukashenko! (Or rather, pay no attention.)Russian propagandists discuss possible scenarios in case of Lukashenko's death. No one lives forever, they say. I wonder who gave the order to bring up this topic?

This will please @Brisketexan and others (me included) - Western nations need to start keeping an eye on Russian citizens living abroad. Yes, plenty fled trying to avoid mobilization, but plenty did not, and were either there because of wealth/wealthy parents, or are there fucking around and spying.
