They've been doing this for a while, but they'll park drones in areas where they know Russians are moving around and wait until they see them.

Ukrainian intelligence took out a mayor of a city in one of the occupied areas - said mayor had been collaborating with the Russians.

I don't know, but the refinery that inexplicably blew up last night, the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery, somebody with numbers said that one refinery was 5% of Russia's refining capacity.  Yaroslavl is located over 240 kilometers (150 miles) northeast of Moscow and 700 kilometers (430 miles) from the border with Ukraine.

A fire broke out at an oil refinery in Russia's Yaroslavl region, regional governor Mikhail Yevrayev said on Wednesday, ruling out enemy attack as the cause.

"Residents were concerned it might have been the result of an enemy drone attack," Yevrayev said on the Telegram messaging app.

"But what happened has nothing to do with that...The fire is of a technological nature."

True,  Zeihan was beating the drum about pressure literally building up in the pipelines when things are going offline and there’s no extra storage, but I would think they would have safeguards, but it is Russia so….

These three posts show the methodical work that Ukraine is doing. They bomb the main pipeline and then follow up destroying pumping stations along the route.

Like Hermann Goring having to explain why Berlin is being  bombed, Putin should be answering questions why Russia cannot defend its integral gas and oil facilities from Ukrainian attacks. While the loss of oil and gas refining and exporting facilities is a problem for sure, the macro problem is that Russia has no air defense that can stop Ukraine from shutting down the gas station part of Russia being a gas station with nukes.

i’ve been wondering why they didn’t use Flamingos on the refineries - and I guess the answer is as long as drones can do the job - there’s no reason to spend the money and the resource of an ICBM.    On one glorious day in the future you send the new Tomahawks and glide bombs and hundreds of new Flamingos at the military industrial complex factories making whatever they still make, while taking out whatever power plants supply energy to the factories.

I don’t know, man - I have this vision of an orgasmic future event where each factory and refinery will get multiple saved up flamingos. So many flamingos that the now-limited number of air defense missiles can’t stop them all.    I want the destruction of those sites and loss of electrical power to happen on the same day - in an event so dark and catastrophic that Russia can’t recover from it and continue its war effort at the same time. Or at all.

Russia is preparing to import gasoline from China and other Asian countries to offset a growing domestic fuel shortage, following the shutdown of nearly 40% of its oil refining capacity, the pro-government outlet Kommersant reported on Oct. 1.

The move comes amid a series of Ukrainian drone and missile strikes that have severely disrupted operations at Russian refineries, a key component of the Kremlin’s wartime economy. Some facilities have been forced to halt production indefinitely.

According to the outlet, Russia is considering importing fuel from China, South Korea, and Singapore to stabilize its domestic market.

Per Kyiv Independent and Euromaiden news, Russia has removed import tariffs on gasoline, and will be purchasing gas from China, South Korea, and Singapore.

That’s right, Russia has banned export of gasoline so it’s not getting rubles for the economy, and instead has to use the remaining rubles to pay other Asian countries to import gas to Russia.

Which means we need to destroy every terminal that could logistically accept gasoline from other countries.

How much refining capacity does Singapore have?

I have no idea.  But if it turns out that the shadow fleet is selling gas to people who sell it to Russia at a profit, I’m gonna need to see a doctor after four hours.

Apparently enough that a lot of American oilfield services companies have offices over there. Owens Tool has one, I think Core Services, as well. Those are both companies that have offices close to Granbury. When my son was looking for an engineering job, several had Singapore offices.

You don't want to use the flamingos yet

You grind  down their oil infrastructure. You make them use whatever supplies and equipment they have left. While stockpiling flamingos.

Then you wait until December and hit everything left hard right before the coldest part of the year in Moscow.

That's how you create a massive shortfall in heating and electricity in Moscow and st Petersburg rather than it being spread out to the "poor" parts of russia

Love this comment: Maybe one day we indeed hear about riots in the Polish - Ukrainian - Chinese border triangle

One of the Kyiv Independent journalists has her own YouTube series that's kind of an interesting look at various parts of Ukraine.

You can actually pinpoint the exact moment that Victor Orban began looting Hungary. Hungary was AHEAD of Romania in terms of economy, then like a soviet vampire, the Russia-backed scum began selling the country's future for dreams of Moscow riches, which he now has. Romania is now leaving Hungary in the dust.

A Telegram channel considered to be run by Russian propagandist Dugin: "Apparently, the situation with the war will soon become even more acute. I’m talking about Tomahawk missiles. It is no coincidence that air raid drills were held today in Russian cities. Everyone should know where the nearest bomb shelter is."

In Poland, a Russian GRU agent was detained on charges of preparing terrorist attacks in Poland, Lithuania and Germany using drones and tin cans that, instead of containing corn, were "filled with powerful explosive material," Gazeta Wyborcza reported.

According to the publication, one of the planned attacks was to take place at a cemetery in Łódź, Poland.

Similar explosive-filled cans were also found at a cemetery in Lithuania. The detained man was also transporting components for drones and SIM cards between Poland, Lithuania and Germany.

On Konstantin’s Wednesday economy round up he mentioned that one of the gas station chains not having gas in the Moscow area belongs to one of the largest petroleum companies in Russia.

He said what concerned the citizens was that this particular company was one of the largest in Russia, with vast wealth, its own oil drilling/production, and its own gasoline refineries to process its own oil into gas.   It then sells its own gas in its own gas stations.  When that company’s gas stations are out of gas, the drivers think,  “Holy shit, if that company’s station is out of gas, things are seriously much worse!”

He also reminded us that every business that fails that owes money to the bank requires that bank to pull money out of its reserves to satisfy the loan default on its books.   He thinks that banks are literally hemorrhaging their reserves right now, and that the Russian cultural propensity for its citizens who have learned that it is smart to engage in bank runs to protect their assets should just about be upon us - and to watch for it.

Older Soviet citizens knew when shit was about to hit the fan, one had to take everything you owned and convert it from rubles into dollars or Euros.  or at minimum, clean out your bank deposits and purchase something that had value to you.  Something like non-perishable food - or electronics and appliances - things that were always scarce and would increase in value - so that when you came out on the other end, you still owned things that had the same or greater value then the now discounted rubles.

Bank runs…

It is worse than that. Hungary was more modern and had a brighter future than the Czech Republic and most definitely Romania in 1990. Romania wasn’t even safe back then and people were pouring out of trains headed west. It looked 10X worse than a crowded NU subway during rush hour - not hyperbole as I would have been very surprised to hear of no deaths.
