September 30, 20196 yr Popular Post 3 hours ago, Thujone said: Aside from recruiting, where almost nobody was criticizing Charlie, do you see me arguing that he did a good job? No. He did a shitty job as a coach. Yet I point out that the animosity seems disproportionate to his tenure here, and you and your toadies stalk out from the alleyway behind the Dollar Store like somebody stole your meth spoon. A pack of toothless hornets. It's so funny to me watching you guys spin off the planet when anyone suggests that Charlie doesn't deserve the level of vitriol that you and your ilk dish. He wasted three years of your life? Really? I suppose if everything important in your life is reliant upon what college kids do over a season of playing *a game,* then I suppose you've got a gripe. I would have hoped you had more going on in your actual life than CFB, but maybe you don't. Maybe it's about bringing mom her meds and dad his next sixer of Schlitz while he dissolves into oblivion in the recliner. Maybe CFB is that much of an escape for you. You wonder how you were the only one of your 12 siblings that ended up having to take care of ma and pa while the others did something with their lives. Hell, Jimmy's a doctor. Nancy's a CEO. You? You talk smart on website. I mean, UT football is important for a lot of reasons. I have great weeks when we win, and sometimes shitty weeks when we lose. I'm no less connected to it than any other fan. But you. You, @closetojumping. Apparently it's your whole life. And Charlie wasted three whole years of it. Boo hoo. I'm really sorry for you. No, seriously. What do you do the other 9 months of the year? Apparently nothing, because Charlie stole three whole years from your precious self. You're worried about subtle condescension? You shouldn't be. You should be concerned about direct, non-subtle condescension as I'm dishing right now. I'm condescending to you because you are, and always have been, a paper expert. A keyboard professional. A bully. A know-it-all. A guy whose ability to distinguish the basic nuances of football gets the mouth-breathers warming your prick with their worshipful panting. I guess that's one way to go. But please, don't mistake my words for subtle condescension, when they are intended to be an announcement; a shout-from-row-50-of-the-west-side-of-DRK proclamation of the roll you've made for yourself. Congrats. You're a self-righteous, pontificatorious bullshitting pied piper for cunts. Jesus, I thought ambulance chasers were better writers than this. Your creative capabilities apparently end with MS Paint, because this is a weak and banal attempt of a retort using the written word. Look, I know you get upset when your bullshit is called into account, but you don't get to devolve into the well-worn BBS maneuvers of lying on a new thread and eschewing context to suit your narrative. 1) You have never not been a Chuckles apologist. You lost your shit at the hint of misalignment with the guy on Shaggy back in the day. Referencing hordes and toadies shouldn't seem like a strong concept to someone that has participated in them and with them on the boards for years when it suits their narrative. Defending this wonderful man of a coach was one of those scenarios. 2) Anyone with an IQ above 80 would clearly understand the 3 years of life reference being relevant only to cheering on Texas. I assume this kind of non sequitur semantics tangling works with some dipshit during a deposition, but you don't do well with it here. You knew what I was referencing, as well as the rest of the board. I went with facts and called you out for what you are, so I get it, you didn't have much to work with, so fucking forget reading comprehension, right? Right. Beyond all of that, I'm not a bully. I know it feels like that to you because every time you attempt a take on football or recruiting that deviates from a dick drawing, I call out that weak, uninformed shit of a take you've posted. That's not bullying, that's just your pride, fucking with you. I get it, you didn't play, you don't do much when watching it but follow the ball, and you drive-by the recruiting board once a month, so really, it's not your fault. That said, don't take offense when it's thrown in your face as you feign knowledge beyond the novice. The rest of your post is the same condescension I referenced, and the board gets it. You threw out lazy internet smack tropes - calling me a loser, stating that I live with my parents, presenting that I don't make money, stating that I'm unsuccessful, and offering that I need Internet friends to make myself feel good. Blah blah blah. You forgot to throw out the concept that I've never been laid. Meh. You just basically said that the board waits for my take, and then they follow it. Um, no. I get mocked regularly by guys here with better smack than you. And I'm wrong a lot, so the mocking could just be easy. But you'd have to actually know football and/or recruiting to get it, so that's why the discussions within the packs here are odd to you when they're not just applauding your funny MS Paint stuff. 31 minutes ago, Thujone said: His rankings were as follows, according to 247. 2014-Ranked #20 (signing day right after being hired) 2015- Ranked #10 (2014 record 6-7) 2016-Ranked #7 (2015 record 5-7) You guys are kidding right? I know the product on the field was garbage, as I've said. But you're going to sit there and shovel that bullshit of "the guy couldn't recruit?" Shut the fuck up. You expose yourself with those type of arguments. When those classes came in, we were out of our minds excited with how the guy closed after those shitty seasons. Say what you will about his actual football coaching (I actually agree he is not good, straw man attacks aside), but the guy could recruit. Recruiting involves evaluation, aquisition, and roster management. Roster management entails understanding attrition risk, position count, and player development. You assume a ranking sorts all of that neatly, and it doesn't. A ranking, of which Strong was just okay and counter to your original point, consists of the acquisition aspect and that's about it. Strong was a mediocre recruiter. He recruited at the one place with every single recruiting advantage in the country, and he was lackluster at it on the ratings side compared his predecessor and successor, and terrible at it on the other two fronts. There were plenty of us at the time concerned about elements of what we were seeing. Discussing the recruiting topic beyond that with you isn't worth the time or the energy. You aren't worth the fucking bullet.

You attempted to make many points, and you used a lot of words. You’re attempting to stand by one. I don’t know Chuckles personally. I don’t give a fuck if good or bad things happen to him, either. In terms of football, though ? Yeah, fuck yeah I hope he gets embarrassed on the reg. And that’s what you cannot help yourself but defend. You committed yourself to him, and by God that is where you are chained.

September 30, 20196 yr Popular Post I can’t speak for anyone else. I don’t hate Charlie. I’m not the sort to bear grudges against individuals. But this is a site where we mock those who stand in the way, or even seek or wish to do so, of Texas. We mock people because they look funny, go to A&M, fumble a ball in a game, or any number of other reasons. Strong has so many and so clear examples in his past of standing in the way of Texas Football success that it would be the greatest of curiosities were there no ongoing conversation in standard surly fashion. Whether through incompetence, cosmically unbelievably (literally) bad luck, or whatever, he failed to fix what was his job to fix. And he broke what it was his job not to break. And he has the temerity to continue to draw a massive unneeded and undeserved paycheck. Bob Knight refused his pay one year when he felt his work wasn’t up to par. Not that I’d expect Charlie to do it. No, he is getting exactly what he signed on for, including here. If it puzzles you, you aren’t thinking clearly enough.

September 30, 20196 yr Could there be more polar opposites than Patterson/Chuckles and CDC/Herman? I mean really take a big swig of brew and ponder that. Where we were and where we are now. We had bad idea jeans and too dumb for capital punishment getting the football program buttfucked by borderline erotic Bielema. Things are looking up. ALSO: I'm happy for Shane Buechele.

September 30, 20196 yr Water under the bridge yak lingering. Enjoy the future/direction of the program. September 30, 20196 yr Man, ok. I thought I was coming in this thread to see a lot of "Haha Chuckles lost to his ex QB and 5-0 SMU" not a rehashing of Charlie's firing. I'm happy to see him lose, but it isn't personal. I liked the guy, but if he is a shit coach I want him to be a shit coach wherever he goes. I’m guessing you meant Jack Chevigny, but even he had a better records than Strong.
