March 27, 20187 yr This needs a thread too. Qatar was a great race, but it really isn’t a Honda track. It has me thinking this year may another Marc Marquez year Which I’m fine with.
March 28, 20187 yr Yeah, Qatar isn't a Honda friendly track but the Ducati is finally smooth through the turns and still has a power advantage. Maybe I'm just trying to jinx the Duc but Dovi looks extremely confident this year. Also read that he's been in talks with Honda so that could get interesting. #team93

April 6, 20187 yr TV guide is showing live quali for Moto2 at noon on saturday and delayed quali starting at 8 pm for Moto3/GP/2 - wtf? And the live race for GP at 11:15 Sunday morning with delayed race starting at 8 pm for Moto3/2/GP. beIN channel 662.
April 6, 20187 yr I think they haven't updated the guide on UVerse - at least not yesterday. I just set it to record in the general race times to see it all.
April 8, 20187 yr Author Good lord, Marc. A bit bumpy today. Rossi’s BFF/handler guy is pretty lame, though. Marc knew he fucked up and went over to immediately apologize, but no.
April 9, 20187 yr 23 hours ago, G650 said: I like Rossi, but he attracts some real clowns. That's Uccio... childhood friend. They're super tight so he probably knew Rossi didn't want to have anything to do with him. Old ass interview from the Ducati years: http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2011/05/27/rossi-s-right-hand-man-uccio/155811 Oh, and Uccio is number 64 in this:

April 9, 20187 yr I mean, I get it. Rossi was hot... you could see it in his interview. Just not the right time.

April 11, 20187 yr I saw a clip of Marc and Uccio from a different angle and you could hear some of the audio but it was hard to hear over the boos (really). I could hear him saying, "don't come in here... don't come in here" over and over again in Italian and then it sounded like he said "next time" but there was too much noise. Googlez probably has a transcript.
April 20, 20187 yr May as well bump it. FP1 - Marquez was the leader with Rossi in 2nd. These Yamahas are killing me this year.
April 22, 20187 yr Oof... More re: the track from other riders... Crutchlow: "I think they’ve made a terrible job," he said. "They tried to make it better but they made it worse. I know last year was bad, and now it’s even worse. "I don’t understand how we can come to a GP and it’s worse than last year," he fumed. "I love this circuit, but it’s bad. It’s honestly bad that we now come to GPs and the circuit be in this shape." "They haven’t really done anything. "It’s so dirty, and so bumpy you can’t imagine. I love this circuit, but it’s bad. It’s honestly bad that we now come to GPs and the circuit be in this shape. "And it’s so dirty you can’t imagine. You can’t see down the back straight if you’re behind someone." Rossi: "It’s a disaster," said Valentino Rossi. "For me it’s the worst situation during all the season. You have three or four bumps that are very big." “With our bike it’s difficult, because you have a lot of bumps on the straight, so the bike moves very much at more than 300km/h and it’s a critical situation.” "Back straight, after the hole, you go up, you go over the crest, [in] fifth and sixth [gears] the bike moves a lot because of big bumps. There are a lot of bumps in the braking [zone] also," Rossi added. "Maybe the biggest one is Turn 18, before the last two lefts, the bodywork touches the ground, so it’s like motocross. Personally, I like very much this track, but the bumps start to be a problem." "Last year we asked to do some improvements. They did something, but unfortunately it didn’t work." "It was like being at the ranch!" Rossi complained. "You don't see anything in front, and it's very strange ... Maybe coming from the asphalt, but I don't know." Miller: “We’ve broken a windscreen already with the rocks and the dust," he said. "It’s so bad down that back straight, it’s ridiculous. "It was like big old rocks hitting me at 300km/h," he added. "They felt like bullets. I wasn’t too keen on that." “From my past experience, and my theory, dirt and water on top of a normal track normally don’t combine too well" Espargaro: 'described the situation as "unacceptable", urging organisers to resurface the track' http://en.f1i.com/news/301329-cota-track-surface-criticised-motogp-riders.html https://jalopnik.com/heres-what-everyone-in-the-racing-world-is-mad-about-th-1825442655 http://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/20296/valentino-rossi-circuit-of-the-americas-track-conditions-fitting-for-motocross https://www.motorsport.com/motogp/news/rossi-worsening-austin-bumps-disaster-crutchlow-1028571/
April 22, 20187 yr Author Is this on tv? Bien Sports. Or if you have an Acestream player there’s a good stream here:12a867546cda348fc9ffed50ba316080b3be2389
April 22, 20187 yr Wow. Haven't watched it back yet on the stream, but at the track that seemed like a pretty boring race compared to others so far this year.
April 22, 20187 yr Author Yeah, it was pretty straightforward. Marc got to the front and that was it, really. There weren’t even many other overtakes.
April 23, 20187 yr And still undefeated at COTA. Iannone did well for a minute. Dani did well, also, considering he just had surgery. Watching the Hayden stuff made the room a little dusty.
April 23, 20187 yr ^^Undefeated in the U.S. FYI, Dunno if this article is right, and I hadn't heard this until now, but it seems COTA has no MotoGP contract as of yet for 2019 and beyond. However, MotoGP’s contract with COTA also is up after this year, the sixth time Austin has been host to the series. Dorna, the Barcelona-based rights holder for MotoGP, keeps its cards close to the vest and will weigh riders’ criticism of the bumpy track, which surfaced again Friday even after repeated efforts in recent months to smooth out rough spots. April 23, 20187 yr Hmm, I thought they had a 10 year contract with MotoGP? Even the BT Sports guys mentioned something about the contract being good through 2022 (or something like that). Maybe not?
April 23, 20187 yr The MotoGP race was a yawnfest but, as usualy, Moto3 and Moto2 were great to watch. Really enjoying seeing Bagnaia battle Marquez in the Moto2 race. Great action!
April 29, 20187 yr Ahem ... better late than never, I guess. Austin Grid Girls. Just saw these posted. Edited April 29, 20187 yr by wood
May 6, 20187 yr Author Well, that was something. Hard to blame anyone in particular for that crash in my opinion. I suppose I’d blame Lorenzo the most, but he did try and stand up once he saw Dani. Marc’s celebration was pretty funny.
May 6, 20187 yr Best crossing the finish line celebration ever! i agree on the blame for the crash. But if you make me choose, it will always be Lorenzo. How I loathe him....
May 31, 20187 yr Not MotoGP, but the closest thread I could find. Superbike star Dan Kneen killed in Isle of Man TT crash https://motorsport.com/roadracing/news/kneen-isle-man-tt-killed-1043365/
June 6, 20187 yr I love watching the Isle of Man TT, but damn. 3 dead last year iirc. 2 dead this year, and one more critical and deteriorating.
