Folks made it through in the Brazos River Valley with no loss of life. 2 more mamas left to domino. May go down as one of my all time favorite pics taken on the place.

When does she get to drive that side-by-side??
Hell she wants to drive now. She's very independent at 3. At least in her mind

O.K. all you cattle folks, how many cattle per acre can you graze  on good grazing land in East Texas around Nacogdoches/Lufkin area?

Call the Overton TAMU Research and Extension. They would be able to give you the info you are looking for and help you get a plan to establish pasture.

Also my steers are now booked to go to the packer next week at 8.00 over the board. Hopefully buy another group end of next week.

And the packing plant broke down, so I may not get to ship this week.

Cutting hay and its not a good start. Im hearing its pretty lite everywhere. If we don't get some rain hay prices are going to be high come late fall/early winter. I would be buying what you need for the winter now or at least partial and see what happens weather wise over the next couple months. Still some good prices from last years crop available.

Yep - hay crops everywhere likely to be in the crapper. Not only will yields be light, you can pile on an early start to feeding as pasture grass gets depleted with heat and no rain.

Any word from the plant? Getting shopped this week?

Looks like they’ll average right about 1400lbs when they ship tomorrow morning

Since the beginning of October

You still there? I have to go to KanEquip in Herington before close to get repair parts for my Ford 2120. I live 20 minutes south of Herington.

I was there at noon. Ran back to White City and Alta Vista after that

I should also note we used to share some grass by Ramona, KS

There is some good grazing up there. I have quite a few friends in the Tampa, Ramona area.

I have orders working to buy tomorrow at the Kearney, Ne sale so we will see how that goes.

Got 101 steers at average of 573 lbs for 1.79. Should be heading out to Pine Ridge Country shortly

any of you guys build a weld up metal building using Mueller? I"m in the process of getting bids. Looking at building a 40x60 on a 65x60 pad.

I haven't used any of Muellers stuff but they are one of our customers. We built the equipment that they use to make all of their trim and several of their panels. Good guys to work with for what that's worth.

So the trucker managed to kill four steers on the way to the yard. Makes for a great Thursday morning.

Shocked his company didn’t just try to cut a check for it to keep it away from his insurance.

Dang Bud that's awesome! remind me, are you putting together loads from barns? individual sellers?  do you run cattle on your farm also? probably the best cattleman from a pure businessman standpoint is Pete Bonds and he doesn't run cattle in the pure sense of the definition. no cow/calf, purebred genetics operation just stockers and buying loads to put on feed.

I’ve got buyer I use that works Central NE barns and then I take them where I can get the best bang for my buck on gain. For now that’s going north. Also do the hedging for a number of farms and feeders in NE, KS, SD, IA, CO, and MN

Calf price is hanging in there pretty good but the cull cow market has gone to complete shit.  I don't understand the correlation, I guess.

Too much grass burned up early this year and we can only kill so many cows at a time. If I could find some space I’d go buy a  bunch of cull cows put some cheap weight on them and dump them in six weeks
