Call the Overton TAMU Research and Extension. They would be able to give you the info you are looking for and help you get a plan to establish pasture.
May 25, 20187 yr If you want to hear me talk of about the cattle on feed report today, you can check for your local affiliate. https://www.agweb.com/market-rally/
May 25, 20187 yr Also my steers are now booked to go to the packer next week at 8.00 over the board. Hopefully buy another group end of next week.

May 31, 20187 yr Author Cutting hay and its not a good start. Im hearing its pretty lite everywhere. If we don't get some rain hay prices are going to be high come late fall/early winter. I would be buying what you need for the winter now or at least partial and see what happens weather wise over the next couple months. Still some good prices from last years crop available.
May 31, 20187 yr Yep - hay crops everywhere likely to be in the crapper. Not only will yields be light, you can pile on an early start to feeding as pasture grass gets depleted with heat and no rain.

June 14, 20187 yr Author any of you guys build a weld up metal building using Mueller? I"m in the process of getting bids. Looking at building a 40x60 on a 65x60 pad.
June 14, 20187 yr I haven't used any of Muellers stuff but they are one of our customers. We built the equipment that they use to make all of their trim and several of their panels. Good guys to work with for what that's worth.

I’ve got buyer I use that works Central NE barns and then I take them where I can get the best bang for my buck on gain. For now that’s going north. Also do the hedging for a number of farms and feeders in NE, KS, SD, IA, CO, and MN
July 18, 20187 yr Calf price is hanging in there pretty good but the cull cow market has gone to complete shit. I don't understand the correlation, I guess.
July 18, 20187 yr 8 hours ago, Kennythetiger said: Calf price is hanging in there pretty good but the cull cow market has gone to complete shit. I don't understand the correlation, I guess. Too much grass burned up early this year and we can only kill so many cows at a time. If I could find some space I’d go buy a bunch of cull cows put some cheap weight on them and dump them in six weeks
