  • I don't know when this came out, it must have been recently, it's my daughter's band, she's the drummer (and sometimes she's on guitar/vocals).  They mine that realm of 90's grunge-punk like Hole, Nir

Some angry death metal with a bit of groove out of a young band from Denmark. This is going in the gym rotation. Debut album out today.

I'll be the one in a black metal tee - look for me!

heh. really, probably gonna go with my gray Dying Fetus shirt as I've gotten too fat for most of my other ones. lol. sigh.

Psycroptic still bringing it. New single out a few months ago that I just heard earlier today.

I don't really know any other metal guitarists that write riffs like Joe Haley. You can almost always tell a song is by Psycroptic in the first 2 seconds.

Saw the Dwarves, Helmet and GWAR a couple of nights ago. You can see a couple of other pics in the main Concerts You're Attending thread, but posting this one here because true metal fans will understand. I was at the barricade for the entire show and most people were sadly unfamiliar with the Dwarves. So when they performed, we connected because I am a big fan and was fully into it, singing along, etc. Blag eventually tossed me the mic and I sang lead on Unrepentant for a while before tossing it back to him. After the show the band gave me the setlist. Fucking awesome.

Heavy music just always delivers, the culture of fans and bands is badass, and man does it exorcize some demons like nothing else can.

I mean I've known who System of a Down is. Was just diving into them a bit the other night. Cool band. Feel like they avoided a lot of the bad tendencies that a lot of their contemporaries had.

That's a great song. Lots of veterans releasing some cool stuff recently -- Converge, LoG, Megadeth, Testament, Coroner...

In the spirit of the thread, talking about heavy music, past or present . . .

In the 80's it was Metal Church.

In the 90's there was:

Dream Theater
White Zombie
Pro-Pain
Filter
STP
AIC

Legions Of Metal Festival went on sale today with the headliners announced.  Combined with Hell's Heroes and ProgPower USA XXV...2026 will be a great year!

"Hey man nice shot" is a good song but the rest was pretty lame

That’s a wild list. To each their own.

I like some other Filter songs from Short Bus, besides HMNS.

Like Dose.

Heavy is relative. As is clear every time I try to play 'my' music for anyone willing to listen

But as I’ve said before, metal is a big tent and all are welcome. With the possible exception of nu-metal/rap metal. Ugh.

Oh me too.  But I was young and stupid.

teenage years for me, but the point stands. and is probably more justified.
