This album is more modern and a bit commercial. Still dont know what to think of it yet.

  • I don't know when this came out, it must have been recently, it's my daughter's band, she's the drummer (and sometimes she's on guitar/vocals).  They mine that realm of 90's grunge-punk like Hole, Nir

Some angry death metal with a bit of groove out of a young band from Denmark. This is going in the gym rotation. Debut album out today.

Just listened to that new song above.  Sounds like Evanescence or something.  Not my thing.

You damn right. Both these dudes can throw it down. Who knew Elon Musk and Jesus of Nazareth were such amazing shredders?

exactly what i thought. Used to have a predominantly desk job where the guy that sat behind me played some Evanescence CD on a loop, not loud but audible. I hated that job.

but not as much as I hate Evanescence.

I think everyone who listens to within temptation for the first time compares thek to Evanescence and I'm no exception. And since the new album is poppy, I would expect that comparison a bit more. Check out some of their other material too.

Excellent cover, never would've expected Trivium to cover this.

saw these guys last night and it was extremely good. if you like Sleep you should check them out. one of the loudest shows I've ever attended.

I am a big Sepultura fan and long ago wrote of Soulfly as pretty awful. I just checked out their most recent album Ritual and it is pretty fucking great. In fact it sounds like a lost Sepultura album.

Thought that first Cavalera conspiracy disc was solid.

I thought both were pretty good with a couple
Of tracks on each being really great (like Sanctuary).

In what universe does Parkway Drive take top billing over Killswitch Engage? Bought a last minute ticket as I was leaving a music festival thinking I’d catch the whole KSE set and saw exactly three songs.

The Chasm and Cruciamentum hitting Atlanta at the end of June. I iz very excite.

Not sure how heavy you might classify this but I've been on a Myrkur kick lately.

Megadeth is better than Metallica. Change my mind.

In terms of musicianship and things off that sort, Megadeth has always been superior. But Metallica was more successful for a couple reasons. First of all, they were the first thrash band, so they were at the head of the pack. 2nd, despite James having a limited vocal range and such, his vocal style was just plain enjoyable. No one ever says "I like Metallica's music but hate the singer". Sometimes Dave's voice turns people off. And third, Metallica's big accomplishment (was) outstanding songwriting, and for the first few albums, progressing.

First single to drop since Halloween. It picks up about 1:15 into the video.

Stoner Rock/Metal which has probably already been put in here.  Saw this band open for Elder last year.  They have a newer (2018) one out, but digging this one lately:

i like that album a lot. saw them open for the sword a couple years ago.

Clown’s (from Slipknot) 22 yr old daughter died a couple days ago. Very sad.

Saw Judas Priest last night at Moody. It absolutely rocked but thought theor opening act, Uriah Heep was better. Never heard of them but those old dudes still got it.

SIAP, but just got around to listening to Dream Theater's newest album that came out back in February. One of their best in a long while. Me gusta.

Lol.  ok, that's a little ridiculous.

Edit: also, A+ for the silly video

Zakk Wylde and Adam D think that’s too much pinch harmonics.

Somewhat obsessed with this lately. So heavy in its own way.

New Darkthrone is dope

Also I've been digging this band lately. Don't know how to describe them.

Maybe not heavy enough for this thread, but certainly not pop.  Saw them Saturday at Hotel Vegas.  Hell of a set, live.  Drummer is fantastic.  They apparently opened for Sleep somewhat recently as well.

I'm posting from the Mastodon/Coheed & Cambria show. My son is a huge Mastodon fan so I got us tickets.

They just got done playing their set and they sounded so fucking good.

C&C are up next.

Anyone catch Mastodon’s Crack the Skye anniversary set on this tour? It may have been the best I’ve ever heard them live.

WTF, are you here too?

Negative. I caught them a few days ago and have been slow to ask here. Their performance was next level.

Coheed is good. However Mastodon was a juggernaut. They should be closing this show.

I saw the Crack the Skye tour and it was epic. Cool that they are rolling out those songs again.

I don’t know much about them, I think I learned about them from a Mastodon interview on Spotify. But I love this song:

It’s definitely heavy.

Guess who's back with another new album? Doesn't have the wow factor of Rotting in vain, but it's a decent track. This album was sooner than I expected after Jon Davis released a solo album last year touring extensively to promote it along with the death of his wife.

for those in austin, there are quite a few sub $20 reserved tickets on stubhub for the mastodon show on tuesday.

The world doesn’t need another korn album. I am pretty sure the world didn’t need any korn album to begin with. Sorry about dude’s wife, but for the most part his vocals are just terrible.

Any Deafheaven fans in this thread? I had tickets to see them but came down with strep throat in college. Still pissed about it.

Deafheaven rules, although I actually prefer New Bermuda and Ordinary Corrupt Human Love to Sunbather. All three are great, though.

New Bermuda is my fav. Just posted what first got me into them.

I need to give Ordinary Corrupt a few more listens.

You either love Korn or you hate them there's no in-between, we all have our own unique tastes and Metal has countless sub genres. Korn was the only metal band to ever experience any consistent success on the boy band/pop artist/hip hop dominated TRL and enjoyed so much success to the extent that the MTV execs had to invent a rule that required a song be retired after so many weeks on the countdown to get them off the air so they could push their marketable music down your throat. Long live Nu Metal!
