He’s playing bass no less. Lots of now-but-not-then famous folks got their starts playing bass for famous folks. For example, Willie played bass - albeit briefly - for Ray Price. Tom T played bass for various touring folks when he was getting his start in Nashville. It was a common practice in the early 60s and before.

and Waylon played bass for a guy.

With harmonicas?

When this picture was taken they were probably still the Polka Tulk Blues Band but changed to Black Sabbath in 1969

There was that.  The one time being the bass player and having to go ride the bus with the roadies was a good deal.

Let's play, "which no talent ass-clown doesn't deserve to be grouped among the rest?"

Steven Tyler.  The Doors music did not hold up well in the long run, but it was an impressive run from '66-'71.  Jim did carve out a unique sound/scene/lyrical ether in his era.  Again, it doesn't move well through space and time, but it was a marked stamp at one point.

As with sports, I'm a sucker for longevity and consistency.  You get bonus points, even if your peak isn't as high as some, for just delivering time and time again for a long while.  The Doors did not do that, but you gotta give 'em points for carving out their niche so fast and furious.

Steven Tyler and Aerosmith?  I'll give them credit for this---48 years of recorded music.  15 albums plus countless greatest hit tapes, live records, and boxed sets.  Aside from one handful of good rock songs, almost a half century career built on shit records and worse live performances.  One of the biggest question "da fuh" question marks in rock history is Aerosmith.  Longevity?  Absolutely.  Commercial success.  By the tonnage.  Enough material in that time to make one decent 10-track "Best Of" playlist?  No fucking way in this life or the next.

Stevie be the weakest link.

I saw them live multiple times in the mid/late 70's. You couldn't be more wrong.

They stopped being decent in 1979, but prior to that, they were awesome.
