Bellagio is definitely not in the value camp. A little background on the Vital Vegas twitter account: it’s just a gossip style account run by one dude in Vegas. He’s widely followed and does get some good scoop often, but sometimes he is wrong.

Sounds like the Nevada Governor is not jumping the gun to announce re-opening yet, so things are still on hold for the moment.

So it was worth it.  We did two choppers and threw extra girls on a party bus. It was 2 hrs each way.  Chopper worth it.  Here’s a pic of the party bus at 9am.

I’m staying at FB for free right now. I love the room and the casino. Don’t love the distance from everything of course. Eating at Mother Wolf tonight with free dining credit, have heard good things.

How can Vegas be Vegas, in this climate?

Most everything about the city revolves around crowds; pools, gambling, shows, restaurants, strip clubs, on and on.

Yep - totally agree.  BizarroVegas sounds shitty.

While on topic of Vegas reopening:

With no precautions, an infected-but-asymptomatic blackjack dealer at the Bellagio could conceivably spur a health crisis in Australia. A sick tourist could just as easily bring hell to Vegas.

This has not stopped an increasingly loud chorus of local officials from calling on Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak to lift the state’s shutdown orders.

Sisolak, to his credit, has remained firm, but the casino industry’s return to business in Nevada is inevitable. It is difficult to imagine, though, how politicians and gaming execs might hope to achieve that goal in the near future without a widespread embrace of masks, gloves, and other prophylactics — particularly in Las Vegas, given the city’s outsize set of risks.

Quote

And so it seems increasingly likely that when the doors swing back open, the result will be a city teeming, as always, with high-value targets for grift — except this time, with an unavoidable emphasis on protective gear, Vegas would find itself host to an anonymized horde of obscured faces and fingerprint-proof hands.

The benefits of a Las Vegas mask mandate would be twofold: It would first establish at least a minimum level of protection against outbreaks, while, crucially, enabling officials to cheaply deflect accusations of naked avarice.

Quote

Protective gear would, however, present a huge problem for law enforcement and casino security in the already notorious town. Crooks elsewhere have wasted no time in adapting to this new state of the world, using it to more effectively ply their trade.

Before the outbreak, casinos generally adhered to a longstanding and understandable policy of denying admittance to face-masked patrons. The logic is easy enough to unfurl: Groups of masked people can be intimidating, particularly to gamblers and tourists carrying large amounts of cash. Masks make identification more difficult, thereby making crime easier. Casinos would prefer to minimize the amount of crime taking place on their floors, and so banning face coverings has always seemed a slam-dunk choice. Until now.

Can’t see how they allow the big crowds at pools and nightclubs. Buffets are gone. Poker is not ideal, likely they can’t turn that back on right away. Cirque shows, sports books . . . Too many people in one space without social distancing.

In Macau, they are only allowing 3 people per blackjack table. Everyone wears masks. Whenever Vegas opens back up, it’s gonna be super weird.

If it means me and a buddy can play on opposite ends of a blackjack table without some dipshit taking a seat next to me and immediately telling me how to play, I would like that Vegas.

Yeah I can see an upside to a lot of things with more distance from strangers in Vegas.  In fact, other than strip clubs, I might not see a downside here.

JFC I hate that fucking guy.  Craps table will be interesting.

Appreciate the updates.  Seriously.  I'll give what I have on the healthcare side if you can keep me going with these.  I'm only half joking.

Pools with 'cabanas only' seems doable.  And if you really limit who gets in, you know the hottest ass will find a way in.  And we can get rid of frat bro?!  There's some upside to all of this, no doubt.

LOL, the wife never comes to Vegas.  I'll bring a camera, no doubt.  July 4 seems plausible...especially if we begin to get some proof it's not as virulent in the heat.

Just one view from one analyst:

Carlo Santarelli, a gaming analyst with Deutsche Bank in New York, said the reopening plan is going to look different in Nevada than it will in Atlantic City, Mississippi or Midwest markets with riverboat casinos.

“We expect table minimums to start at $25 in regional markets, and perhaps $50 on the LV Strip, given lower minimum bet tables would be unprofitable, in our view, once staffing is considered,” Santarelli said.

How are people gonna booze while wearing a mask?  Come to think of it, wearing a mask pretty much sucks for drinking, eating, smoking, snorting and hooking up.  Without all that...what's to point in  going to Vegas?

Told my wife about the PDF on the Wynn site with restrictions, etc.  She immediately said we aren't going if they will still be doing all of that in July.

Yeah that was our response too.  Shared that PDF with two other people we go to Vegas with a lot and that was their reaction as well.  Can’t imagine many people wanting to go with those kinds of restrictions.  Seems more like a beating than anything.  You’d have to be really into just the gambling to endure all that other stuff, and you can get that pretty much anywhere

How does this:

Quote

A security officer will greet each visitor to the resort. Visitors will be screened and asked to use hand sanitizer and to wear a mask (which will be provided by the resort). Appropriate signage will also be prominently displayed outlining proper mask usage and current physical distancing practices in use throughout the resort.

align with bars and restaurants, as you pointed out?

Also, got a chuckle from this:

I'm thinking the opposite.  Desperate times call for desperate measures.  One of the big players (Sands, Wynn, Caesars, MGM) will get rid of them in an attempt to lure people back in (lower prices!).

Of course, there will be a $20 dollar "sanitization" fee added on.

LAS VEGAS (Apr. 20, 2020) – The 51st running of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), set to begin Tuesday, May 26 from the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is officially being postponed as a result of the public health emergency involving COVID-19. It is now targeted for fall of 2020, with exact dates and events to be determined.

“We are committed to running the World Series of Poker this year but need additional time to proceed on our traditional scale while prioritizing guest and staff well-being,” said Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the World Series of Poker. “In the interim, official WSOP competitions are expected to be played online this summer, and we will soon announce details of an expanded series of tournaments to be played on WSOP.com and through partnership with international operators, which will allow players to chase WSOP glory from their homes.”

Restaurateur Sirio Maccioni — the man behind seminal French fine dining restaurant Le Cirque, and one of New York’s grandest maitre d’s — has died, the restaurant reports on Instagram. He was 88.

Maccioni opened the original Le Cirque in Manhattan in 1974. A second flagship at the Bellagio hotel sits at the front of the resort with a view of the Fountains at Bellagio. The restaurant that opened when the Bellagio debuted in 1999 was designed by Interior designer Adam Tihany, who created the circus tent ceiling in a jewel-box setting. The fine dining restaurant is known for its impeccable service with tasting menus adorned with the diner’s name and iconic French cuisine, including a lobster salad that debuted on the menu in 1978. While not a complete duplicate of the original in New York. the Las Vegas flagship with its 17 tables offers a more intimate and upscale version of the original.

Maccioni opened Osteria del Circo, the Italian restaurant from the Maccioni family at the Bellagio, in 1999 as well. The restaurant closed in 2014 after 15-year run serving Tuscan cuisine overlooking the Fountains at the Bellagio. His restaurant Sirio Ristorante at Aria also closed in 2014 after five years.

In 1995, the restaurant in New York was awarded the James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Restaurant.

Maccioni immigrated to New York from Italy and worked at restaurants across the city before opening Le Cirque in 1974. Some of New York’s most acclaimed chefs spent time in its kitchen, including Daniel Boulud, David Bouley, Geoffrey Zakarian, Jacques Torres, and Michael Lomonaco. In 2013, Esquire magazine wrote that “no restaurant in America, perhaps the world, has graduated so many renowned chefs as Le Cirque.”

““Our thoughts are with the entire Maccioni family at this time,” MGM Resorts said in a press statement to Eater Vegas. “When Sirio agreed to bring Le Cirque to Bellagio in the late ’90s, before the city was known as the culinary destination it is today, the resort’s position as an industry leader was cemented. Sirio was the epitome of ‘one of a kind,’ leaving behind an extraordinary legacy in the hospitality and culinary worlds that will live on forever. “

Eater LV on Caesars buffet:

Despite eager media speculation regarding the fate of buffets on the Strip, one resort is investing heavily to make sure a crown jewel of all-you-can-eat dining won't be mothballed when visitors ultimately return to Las Vegas.

The $100 million, 25,000-square-foot, 600-seat Bacchanal Buffet filed paperwork earlier this year to remodel a section of the food line and has now revised the plans to allocate an estimated construction budget of $2.4 million for the makeover. The renovation at the buffet at Caesars Palace focuses on a 2,120-square-foot area, and the changes will affect the existing food counters, service equipment, and the ceiling and floor finishes.

Bacchanal Buffet launched in September 2012 and served its millionth customer in August the following year. Specific plans on how the buffet intends to follow social distancing or protect food from contamination have not been revealed, but many dishes at the nine serving stations are already individually prepared, shared, or plated in real-time by staff from behind the counters.

An estimated timetable for the remodel or its completion have also not been announced.

Caesars Palace, along with every other casino in Nevada, closed on March 17 following a directive from Gov. Steve Sisolak to suspend operations of nonessential businesses, including casinos, dine-in restaurants, and bars, an order that stays in place through April 30.
