So it was worth it.  We did two choppers and threw extra girls on a party bus. It was 2 hrs each way.  Chopper worth it.  Here’s a pic of the party bus at 9am.

I’m staying at FB for free right now. I love the room and the casino. Don’t love the distance from everything of course. Eating at Mother Wolf tonight with free dining credit, have heard good things.

Just got back from my trip to Cosmo last weekend.  I pretty much stayed in Cosmo except to go to UFC and Raiders.  Mask mandate is still going but I forgot I even had it on while gambling.  You are drinking non stop anyway.

The Wynn Club at the Raiders game was a blast.  Sat right behind Volkanovski, who won the UFC belt the night before.

You went to the Raider game with Joe Burrow.  That's awesome.

Notable lack of Peanut Butter Whiskey is notable.

Can a mother fucker get a got damn cup of coffee round this mother fucker? It's like they're allergic to coffee pots or something. Ugh...

I’ll look it up when I get up. It was on one of the menus and worked a treat.

If you are also staying in Cosmo, they have a place downstairs on the 2nd floor called REVIV.  They do mobile service too but I think it's pretty epensive.

I've used this place as well for mobile IVs and they were great...

For some reason isn't wasn't listed on their bottle service menu.  Best believe they got an earful.  Only left them a 4.5 star Yelp review.

RevIV, that's the place. Easy peasy.

It’s like some secret scavenger hunt to fuck with people.

Last night here amd survived in good shape. Just watched the last fountain show of the trip, a last run on the floor, and out tomorrow afternoon.

Recap this weekend when I get a bit.

Any thoughts on The Mirage?

Wife and I are going to Vegas for the first time for our anniversary in March.  We'd considered several spots - Venetian, Grand, Mandalay Bay - just based on places we'd heard of before. Several reviews re: The Mirage complained of dirty rooms.  I'm somewhat surprised.  Is this a thing or are we just seeing typical American bitchassedness w/ people that just want to complain about stuff?

FWIW, we're just looking for a run-of-the-mill, Strip hotel, w/ decent pool options.

Mirage is fine. Good center Strip location. Nice enough pool. I’ve stayed there a few times and been pleased with it. Can’t speak to dirty room reviews, perhaps it’s something going on recently with staffing and the pandemic. They have a decent sportsbook too. If it fits your price range it should work well.

I last stayed there in 2018, so I can't attest to the cleanliness of the rooms today, but they were fine at the time.  Pool complex is plenty large enough.  Depending on the week in March you are going, it might be Spring-Breakyish.

While you are there, I'll recommend Beatles Love.

This.

I’ll be there for 5 nights that weekend. Would love to buy tickets to this event, especially with it on the strip.

Looks like more info to come, not sure yet regarding public tickets. My guess is sponsors will hand out tickets to their clients. Anyone remember if they had large gallery for these in the past? Seemed like smaller sized crowds on the course. If staying at the Wynn, contact a casino host and ask.

TNT will exclusively televise the 12-hole event, to be held the day after Thanksgiving — Friday, Nov. 26, with live coverage beginning at 4 p.m. ET from Wynn Las Vegas, home of top-ranked Wynn Golf Club, the only golf course on the Las Vegas strip. TNT’s presentation of Capital One’s The Match will also be simulcast on TBS, truTV and HLN.

Live coverage of the match play event will once again feature unprecedented access with players having open mics throughout the entire competition, including the capability to communicate directly with their competitor and the broadcast commentators.

A partner since the event’s inception, Capital One will return as title sponsor of Capital One’s The Match, which is sanctioned by the PGA TOUR. Presenting partners will include Michelob Ultra, and DraftKings will return as sports betting partner. E-Z-GO, Wheels Up and Wynn Resorts will also serve as associate partners. Further details about social, digital and broadcast brand integrations throughout the event will be shared in the coming weeks.

Wasn’t the Wynn killing that course and replacing it with a park?

I had friends taking a trip out there just to play it before it closed

Yes. And then the whole Steve Wynn debacle happened and he exited the company and his plan was scrapped. So they actually began to tear up part of the course and then stopped, and rebuilt it and the course reopened awhile ago.

Don't recall if it was posted in this thread, but it was fascinating to see how much the casino lost due to the closure of the course:

So, Wynn Golf Club is indeed a rarity: a course that will re-open after being slotted for higher and better use.

“Not only did we notice we lost 16,000 rounds of golf out there, 70 percent of which were cash, but we probably lost $10 million to $15 million worth of domestic casino business – people coming in for golf trips who decided to go elsewhere,” said Maddox. “It’s a great amenity for the resort.”

That’s wild. Funny he appears to be assuming ~50 rounds per day. Sounds about right. I’ve spent a good number of nights in rooms overlooking it and rarely saw golfers. I always wanted to play but $400 (and 115 degrees) was out of my range

That's one way of putting it. Another way...

He got booted for doing Vegas shit that everyone was doing back in the day and the place has never been the same since.

Damn.  I've had some good meals at Rao's.   Not that there isn't plenty of good Italian in Vegas but that place was always an option.   Speaking of Italian, had Scarpetta, which was solid per usual, last week.  Then Yellowtail.   Food was great at Yellowtail but service really lacking.  I think they were just understaffed.  Our server seemed slammed and way too much time between plates + had to constantly track people down for drinks.  They definitely left a lot of money on the table if service would have been up to usual standards.   Kitchen was closed when we finished what we ordered, and I'm positive we would have ordered several more plates/drinks at normal pacing.  I'm guessing typical post-Covid staffing issues for a random Mon night where it was pretty packed.

I also had Scarpetta last week. Veal chop was fuckin good and covered the plate.

Same.  Really good.  That's what I get at every Vegas Italian restaurant every time.  Primarily because until recently (Monarch) Dallas didn't have a decent one in town.

I about shit when they brought it out.

And it was fucking delicious.

They could still open in late Q3 or Q4 of ‘23. It was originally slated to start last spring.

Although supply issues could slow it down I suppose.

Looks like ATC and pilot walk outs due to vaccine mandates.

Is this true/confirmed? Local news last night said it was all due to weather on the east coast. It was also local news...on a Saturday, which is about as B-level as it gets.

ETA: Just googled. Looks like rumors on the walk out part. Southwest still sticking with ATC issues due to weather in Florida. Also saw something that said over 1,000 more canceled today. 😬

Not confirmed but widely reported…on Facebook.

Lol well fuck facebook "news". But yeah, something smells fishy here. If it were weather and related air traffic control issues, wouldn't that impact all other airlines? Guessing there's more to this.

Lol Facebook. I’ve never been on the Facebook. It’s definitely Southwest and ATC related. Not all that difficult to figure out if you dig into it and know people and follow the “weather” and FlightAware.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Fontainebleau, which has sat empty on the Las Vegas Strip for more than a decade, will no longer become a Marriott-operated property and will operate as a Fontainebleau as originally planned years ago, 8 News Now has learned.

In July, Marriott announced plans to finally open the towering blue building in 2023 as a JW Marriott. A website dedicated to the future hotel has since disappeared. Marriott had said it would operate the 3,700-room property as “the first JW Marriott on the Las Vegas Strip.”

“Marriott recently reached an amicable settlement with the hotel’s owner that has resulted in Marriott exiting the project,” a company spokesperson said in a statement to 8 News Now.

Marriott finally got around to doing a walk through and realized the building has been sitting vacant for over TEN FUCKING YEARS.

There has to be a hell of a backstory there

No shit. How does a brand new hotel sit empty for 10 years on the strip?

Sounds like money squabbles or some stupid, petty shit.

Quick googlefoo and here’s a little bit of info…

It broke ground as the Fontainebleau Las Vegas in 2007 and reached about 75% completion before Fontainebleau Development, the original owner, declared bankruptcy amid the Great Recession.

The Witkoff Group purchased the property in 2017, renaming it The Drew Las Vegas, and penciled in 2022 for completion.

Nevada gaming regulators found Steve Witkoff suitable for ownership back in January 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic hit Las Vegas. Witkoff then sold the property to the Koch/Fontainebleau partnership for an undisclosed amount.

Marriott International had previously teamed up with Witkoff to operate the hotel component of the property.

Was from an article in July, so no mention of Marriott saying bye.
