So it was worth it.  We did two choppers and threw extra girls on a party bus. It was 2 hrs each way.  Chopper worth it.  Here’s a pic of the party bus at 9am.

I’m staying at FB for free right now. I love the room and the casino. Don’t love the distance from everything of course. Eating at Mother Wolf tonight with free dining credit, have heard good things.

Love The Nugg. Going to wander across the street and check out Circa.

We both put 10 dollars in the machine. 2 hours got one drink at the flamingo but I was already drunk so I didn't mind

On our first trip to Vegas, wife was not of age to gamble but that didn’t stop her/us from playing.  She hits something on a slot at the Golden Nugget but panics and walks away.  We’ll never know what it was.  This was back in early 80s.

Reminds me of my first time in a casino ever. I was 16 at the time. It wasn't Vegas, it was some riverboat or dog track with a casino in Illinois or Iowa or some shit. I'm sure it was pretty shitty, but it might as well have been the Wynn for all I knew.

Anyway, went with an older uncle who loved to corrupt the shit out of me. Walked in the door all wide eyed, put a quarter in the first slot machine I saw, pulled the lever and won $1,000 on my first pull. At that age, at that time, that was a fuck ton of money. Uncle was able to cash it out for me, which was cool.

Shitty part was that it likely ruined all gambling for me from that point forward. Spent several years learning the hard way that it doesn't usually work that way. I rarely gamble anymore. And I still blame that uncle for most of my shittiness as an unproductive member of society.

Uncles are the greatest.

Jean Georges was damn good. I was really impressed.

Also, Lotus of Siam is still really amazing.

For you Cosmo folks - which room has the wrap around balcony?

That would be the Terrace Wraparound Suite. I think they all have fountain views.

Thank you. As much as we like Vdara, I’d like to try something new next time.

Cosmo is best property on strip IMO.

Damn, Mead is low.

Late edit, but Lotus of Siam is on my no miss list. Last time I ate there was 4 years ago. Looks like they are at the Flamingo Road location only now. What did you order? It looks delish.

Edited by RPM

Yea the other location is closed, this was my first time at the Flamingo one. I always short rib curry and gf gets the seafood pad see ew. Tom yum is badass alao

Amazing - the Garlic Prawns, the catfish was insanely good, the sea bass with drunken noodles, Nam Prik Noom (chilie dip), the dumplings (pan fried - Amazing)

Meh - the chicken wings (sticky sauce?)

We also had the duck, but I did not care for it.

The pad Thai and the crab fried rice were enjoyed by two of our party that refused to try anything different.

I've been hoping to see a recommendation for Thai food in this thread.  March Madness can't get here fast enough, gonna wear this place out.

Lotus of Siam is often voted best restaurant in LV by the locals. Not best Thai but best restaurant.

For people who want to stay on the Strip, Lemongrass at Aria is solid.

Just another +1 for Lotus, it is a top Thai restaurant in any US city not just Vegas.

fun weekend there this weekend...just got back.  it was surprisingly packed for the "holiday weekend."

dinners at bouchon on friday, beauty and essex on saturday, and sinatra on sunday.  all enjoyable.  stayed at encore and it was on point.

up and down gaming.  opium definitely not as good as absinthe but still a few chuckles.

(AP) -- Cirque du Soleil is planning a brand new, eye-popping show on the Las Vegas Strip this spring that appropriately flips its typical script.

“Mad Apple” will feature stand-up comedians, close-up magic and a live band playing pop music onstage alongside Cirque's famous acrobats in a new hybrid form of live entertainment.

The show — inspired by New York City's eclectic nightlife of jazz cubs, street buskers, comedy shows and live music — will replace “Zumanity” at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino in May on the Las Vegas Strip.

“We really wanted to do something joyous and something celebratory,” veteran producer Simon Painter told The Associated Press ahead of Tuesday's unveiling. “It’s basically a giant party, the greatest night out in New York.”

“Mad Apple” will be Cirque’s sixth Las Vegas show and the first all-new one since it emerged from bankruptcy protection with new owners. In 2020, it had to suspend its productions around the globe as the pandemic crushed live entertainment.

Visitors enter the performance space before the show to find a massive bar and are greeted by magicians. The bar then transforms into the stage and the show begins, the infamous Cirque clowns replaced by two stand-up veterans — Brad Williams and Chris Turner.

“I’m the first stand-up comedian to be a part of a Cirque show and doing traditional standup,” said Williams. “That’s really exciting to me because I do like doing things that I’ve never done before.”

Usually, a Cirque show means pre-recorded whimsical and atmospheric worldbeat music, but not here. A live band with singers will stay onstage for most of “Mad Apple” performing hits by the likes of Billy Joel and Lady Gaga, including tunes by the Gershwins and notable jazz, culminating in “a big sort of Studio 54 party,” Painter said. “The whole show is set to the soundtrack of New York.”

Unlike many of Cirque’s big-top shows, there will be no narrative. “Given the current state of the world and everything else, we wanted to do a piece that was pure entertainment,” said Painter.

“Mad Apple” won't skimp on physical stunts, with acrobats tumbling on top of a New York City taxi, an acrobat swinging on a New York street sign and the show closing with an acrobat doing tricks on an aerial pendulum of the Empire State Building.

“You could go see an acrobatic Cirque show. You can go see a live band. You can go see a magician. You can go see a comedian — and that’s four separate shows. Or you can go see ‘Mad Apple’ at New York-New York and all of that will be in one show,” said Williams. “This is a Cirque show that is really trying new things.”

When he was approached by Painter, Williams asked what sort of comedy the creative team was looking for. Would there need to be a theme, topics to avoid or suggested areas? “Simon said the most beautiful thing a performer could ever hear,” said Williams. “He said, ‘All I care is that it’s funny.’”

The show in some ways promises to nod to Cirque's DIY Canadian roots. The now-global entertainment giant started out humbly with just a couple of buskers in Quebec.

Painter’s company, The Works Entertainment, which Cirque acquired in 2019, has developed several other live shows including “The Illusionists” and “Circus 1903,” which have always had a strong comedic element. Neil Dorward, veteran The Works director, will direct “Mad Apple.”

Damn.  Mentioned before I bought tickets to see him here in Albany a few years ago but he ended up canceling, loved watching his act.  RIP.

Think this is the special that hooked me

Crap.  I didn't consider the fact that the sportsbooks are going to be packed that day.  That was my Thursday plan.  I mean, it makes sense now that I think about it.  It just hadn't crossed my mind.

It will be a madhouse, be sure you have that Caesar's sportsbook app so you can easily place all your losing bets.

Checked out Circa over on Fremont last week for shots and grins.

Not terrible at all. Sportsbook is pretty nice. 3 story screen layout that’s pretty cool.

Plus on 2nd/3rd level there’s seating/bar top games around the edge, with a small desk to run bets.

If one needed to, might be an easier reservation at least.

The Dispensary off the strip. Best prices I have found in the past few years. Planet 13 and all the other stuff if cool but way overpriced. I fly in Wednesday and ready to roll

Reef Dispensaries? I’ll be at Aria next week and was looking for something close to the hotel.

Isn't there an app for that?

Going to Vegas later this month for the first time since before the pandemic.  Eating at Le Cirque, Joel Robuchon, Guy Savoy, Mayfair Supper Club, Jaleo and Julian Serrano Tapas.   I will develop gout, and it will be worth it.

Jaleo is a pass for me. Not nearly as good as it used to be.
