December 17, 20187 yr Looking to our Surly barristers here to see if they, or if they could recommend an attorney to draw up mine and my wifes' wills. I work in Houston but live in Nacogdoches so hopefully can find someone close to these areas. It will be a pretty simple will, but was curious about costs etc. and of course looking for an attorney to handle this for us. Thanks in advance
December 18, 20187 yr You can try that Texas legal plan or if you go on your own you are probably more likely to get out cheap in Nacogdoches than Houston. Probably also lower odds of getting a dipshit. It isn't rocket surgery unless you have a large and complicated estate and want tax avoidance/minimization. I'm guessing you could get a pretty standard set of docs for under 2500.

December 19, 20187 yr Feel free to shoot me a PM. I’m in Austin, but I’ve done plenty of estate planning with remote execution, the hardest part is getting witnesses and a notary lined up if you don’t execute the docs in a lawyers office. It’s more than just a will, there are various powers of attorney and advanced directives you’ll want to get in place as well. Private estate planning would probably run you in the ballpark of $2k for you and your wife with most attorneys. Texas Legal (https://texaegal.org) is about $40 a month. I do about 50/50 in my practice. If you want someone local I can refer a good friend of mine in Houston.
