That doesn't mean we can't model our society on theirs without being racist. It just takes some effort.

Of course I am. We can always do better.

capitalism, communism, whatever. none of them are the problem, just the people that take em over and ruin it for the rest of us.

unfortunately the US will eventually slide too far to the left (after it crashes a few more times) and we will get some dipshit with a new ideology leading lots of angry people. its just the way people work

in some later time, somewhere else, someone will come of up with a system that can last longer (before the devils take over)

I look forward to learning about the equivalent in South Carolina.

Parts of America are certainly similar to others.  Thats a whole lot different than, "it's all the same".

The "Americana" of America is all the same. It's all fucking Texas. All of it.

What I mean is you can find everything in America in Texas, except maybe New York City. Dallas, for ex, is LA.

Go hang out in Buffalo and tell me it's Texas.

I understand the point you're trying to make, but regional differences are still a thing in this country.

San Fran is midget New York.

Buffalo is Fort Worth.

I would say Buffalo is more Beaumont than Ft Worth.

You ever been to Buffalo?

I was born in Boston, so good God no.

What I'm saying is once you get down to the nitty gritty, the US is all the same. Except for a few places that are actually a bit "unamerican". Like San Francisco.

And SF is being ruined ... By Zuckerberg. Down town Austin (near the river) is new SF.

Boulder is awesome.

Can confirm.

I've always had plenty of beer money, but rent money is another story.

Yeah just like what Dirk Diggler said......

Priorities, how do dey work......

Get on a Greyhound bus and go all over America and you'll see two things:

America

Trump.

And Trump has harmed America. It is a country of too much development and a whole lot of worry, strife & fear. Costs are going up and the standard of living is going down. And there is a blame game afoot.

The wrong person is in office. And 9 out of 10 Americans agree on this. 60 percent are democrat and 40 percent are libertarian or republican. And a majority of them fret over Trump.

America is like the politics room on this board plus the old CR, put together. Biting their nails to see him ousted or a weird radical ghost town nobody listens to.

We do need to become more Northern European, absolutely. Those people are apple cheeked, healthy and happy. And they dress better and have nicer things than most Americans. I see them all the time as tourists in Cali. They look great. They have money and they are technologically ahead of Americans. Plus they rake their forrests.

Whatever those euro fags are doing, it is working.

Honestly, we should all become more Canadian.

Was your condition preexisting?  Would seem like you were born this way.

Yes and yes.

I was also run over by a car and nearly killed.

That's an interesting thought but if you think the top 10% is middle class, you might be living in a bubble. I say that as someone who probably lives in a bubble.

Bubble living might be the answer.  $1,500.

That would be cool except everybody would watch you masturbate, which happens to me already. Anyway I'd love to live inside a Christmas ornament, or a snow globe.

Is that SF bubble price because $1,500 seems a little low.

Air Bed&Bubble. New idea. I should trademark it. That and Uber Bubble.

IF you masturbate enough, it'll look like you are.

Wait a minute. I said inflatable portable housing was the future years ago on the internet!

They took my idea. Well I know how those guys who got screwed by Zuckerberg feel.

By "those guys" I mean "America".

And there's the gay guy who says his irritable bowel syndrome is caused by stress.  You mean the stress of the ass taking the length?

I'm sorry, I'll show myself out.

My exact thought.

Buffalo is literally one million times better than Beaumont.

Got to agree with that.  I love Texas.  But east Texas is bad.  And the Beaumont port Arthur area makes East Texas look like Malibu.  There are no redeeming qualities to that part of Texas.

Buncha motherfuckers who don't eat boudin around here.

Beaumont has better food and prettier women, but more cancer. So it’s really just a question of what you would rather kill you.

Buncha motherfuckers who don't eat boudin around here.

And BBQ crab.

Though those are the only two redeeming qualities of that shithole.

I can get excellent boudin in Houston and not have to be in the Golden Triangle.

You're obviously confused, so I'll help you:

I'm perfectly aware that Marx understood that capitalism has an endpoint. That's not to what my very accurate accusation of him being a con artist was referring. My issue with Marx was his rallying cries. His propositions on how socialism/communism were installed were utterly indefensible. He argued that the way to implement the Communist Tomorrow was to work it within the confines of the government. All of his predecessors (Winstanley, More, Rousseau, Owen, etc) as well as his "colleagues," if one is vile enough to refer to them that way, (Bakunin, Kropotkin, Guillaume, etc) strongly refuted such notions. In fact, Bakunin's feud with Marx was rather legendary to anyone who actually reads about socialism/communism and not just Western critiques of same. Bakunin maintained, correctly, that Marx was "from head to foot, an authoritarian" whose "instinct of liberty is lacking in him." History bore him out to be correct, and deep down Marx knew it at the time, and that's why I say he was a con artist. He was to socialism what today's neocons are to capitalism.

I'm no admirer of Adam Smith's either, but I've never disputed the notion that he knew of capitalism's vulnerabilities as well.

And I'm fully aware that Marx' invocation by the previous poster was at least somewhat in jest, but still, I just can't fucking stand reading Marx' verbal effluvia.

I get it. It's not so much that I was confused, in the point I was trying to make (that must all of them are con artists) it's that I was confused about your deeper point.

I think if you looked at it, we are more alike in what we think than different.

But I get it. Marx was definitely different by basically equivocating communism and socialism when most were thinking of them as different, being necessary steps to take to implement a system (if that's clear enough... Sorry, I'm a bit in the cups, as it were...)

Is that on Tralfamadore

And, repeat, folks do not react according to class lines any more, but according to group identity.  Drumph was the first white politician to get this and act on it.  Economic policy pleasure or pain will have only highly muted effect at the ground level.  Emotional messages are the new coin of the political realm.  Emotional messages made real with horrific actions are best.

I wonder what a thoughtful, morally purposeful approach, based on this paradigm, would be?

siap but welders make bank. It's a wandering job, but steady and pays extremely well. My BIL went from doing power plant refits to owning his own fabrication business building oilfield equipment. His son is now following in his footsteps doing power plant refits pulling down around $75K/yr. Downside is all the time away from home.
