for the same reasons the border patrol has given trump and the gop a list of things they need and a wall isn't in the top 10. what trump tries to pass as truth, and a crisis, is a lie.

Can any GOP supporters really outline their platform at this point? Cause all I can see as their platform being is: move money from middle-class and poor up to the top percentages, limit civil liberti

The most fucked up thing about this is there's probably nothing the democrats could do.  Trump would just keep moving the goal posts.  He benefits from the shutdown and EXHIBIT A is getting prime-time TV coverage on EVERY network to blame the democrats.

He's not benefitting from this at all. He's getting weaker politically.

He doesn’t care about that.  He is running for his life.  No amount of political damage he’s inflicting on himself will get him to change course when the alternative is certain political and legal doom.

Here’s what he cares about:

Politically, all I care about is his power.

He's weak right now and that's fine by me.

The less bad news is Trump might inflict enough political damage on himself to give the GOP an opportunity to throw him overboard.

I'm sure it's already being discussed in the Majority Leader's office.

The democrats are fucking up by not screaming from the rooftops to get McConnell to take a vote.

They should be running all over the media saying, “Why doesn’t Mitch take the vote?  Who does the Senate work for, Trump or the American people?  Why won’t Mitch let our democracy work like it’s supposed to?”

Democrats suck at political warfare

A vote on the same bill they passed before Christmas by acclamation?

I think the past year convinced me he would never lose support from the R senators, but if people keep blaming him for the shutdown this could become very interesting.

I think we get a new look at it, because a new group of senators is next on the reelection list.  The 2018 group never left him, but the 2020 group might.

R senators have a lot more leverage over Trump than they did last year because Trump no longer has the protection of the house.

A coalition of 20 R Senators could get Trump to do just about anything.   However, fat chance that happens.

He’s painted himself into a corner. Senate Rs will vote on a clean bill eventually and force Trump to veto

He's tweeting pro-wall stuff.  But I bet he senses the gig is about up and doesn't want actual photography showing him on Trump's side on this right before Trump is about to take an L.

He should just tell his landlord he’ll start paying him when trump says it’s ok to do so. Although it might be a couple years. That should work.

Trump knows a thing or two about financial sacrifice...I have it on good authority that he once had to fly in a G3...top that TSA boy!

It's their fault.  They don't need $800 iPhones or flat screen TVs.  signed, the GOP

I love that there'll be less personnel at the border visit by Trump tomorrow outside McAllen because of the shutdown.

You just need one reporter to point out the fucking idiotic irony of that fact to him.  It won't change his mind, but his facial expression and he realizes the futility of it all will probably cost us billions but would at least provide 30 seconds of entertainment for those of us that wonder if some of his sons owe their extra chromosome to his extra one.

now they are marching pence out to make remarks. this should go well.

No way the cheeto wrote that.  Border's spelled correctly.

What the fuck is a steel barrier?  Is this a fucking Who concert

CRISIS at our southern border. it's a wonder the brown horde has not already overrun austin after sacking corpus and san antonio

Just now, Hugo Stiglitz said:

This is all by design.  Trump embraces the shutdown.

Just like flying Pence across the country to listen to the natl anthem and walk out. GOP/Trump == pure evil

Look here, he never wanted to shutdown the government even though he said he would be proud to shutdown the government just barely under a month ago.

He turned down that deal because that same wing of the party refuses to compromise on DACA.

hey, pence, make sure you say "humanitarian and security crisis on our southern border" three times!

now kevin mccarthy out here calling schumer a liar.

this is terrible theater.

this is like me mediating between my sons over whether they play board games together, video games together, or go outside. they will actually start fighting over stupid shit like that.

this shit is not hard. all these people are ridiculous.

pass the fucking resolution YOU ALREADY PASSED 100-0, you fucks.

5 minutes ago, hayden_horn said:

President deals at it again

someone ask john thune why he voted for the continuing resolution he's already voted FOR.

Its bullshit and transparent that they are trying to trick the optics as a wall is border security and border security is a wall. I doubt the Dems would say no to funding for border security.

Quote

The president slammed the table, asked Speaker Pelosi if she would support his wall and when she said no, he walked out and said "we have nothing to talk about".

Ok I'm a little hard.

Just now, David Dennison said:

The Republicans have lost.

They are going to open the government with no funding.

yeah, they mad.

by the way, these guys are angry liars.

there's a $1.6B funding in the current resolution passed by the house. scalise is out here saying pelosi said $1.

this anger is very unbecoming. chuck and nancy win again.

but republicans are the party of angry.

now, bereft of soul nielsen out here talking crisis, crisis, crisis. "walls work."

these people are terrible human beings.

Why not donate sperm and plasma and sell your kid too?
