2023 Republican Government Shutdown: Same Shit, Same Story

Featured Replies

Yeah no permanent DACA, no deal. Come back with a bill for national automatic voter registration, repeal of any voter ID laws, end to gerrymandering etc.

Can any GOP supporters really outline their platform at this point? Cause all I can see as their platform being is: move money from middle-class and poor up to the top percentages, limit civil liberti

This.  Or 10 year extensions on both for 2.5 million.  When Dems come to power, they can just make it permanent within that time period.

15yr extension on DACA and Bridge.  6 billion total for wall... BUT spread over same 15yrs. The orange moron will just see 6 billion and declare victory.

From what I understand it's a 3 year extension on them....

Does that include a path to citizenship for Dreamers or is he just promising not to deport them for a while longer?

Kicking the can down the road since the Supreme Court won't take up his DACA appeal. Again, another immigration crisis of his creation.

It won't get 60 votes in the Senate.

I believe the latter.  Coulter and Rush would skewer him if he let more brown people become Dem voter citizens.  Plus, MS-13 rapists  with leprosy.

Full path to citizenship for Dreamers is the only thing Democrats should accept for wall money. DREAM Act for wall. No DREAM Act, no wall.

Democrats shouldn’t negotiate with Trump.

Mitch needs to pass a CR, Nancy needs to pass a CR.

Put it on dotard’s desk.

I tend to agree but there's a point where not being open to negotiating is going to blow back on the Democrats. I agree with David, full path to citizenship for the Dreamers is what you come back on and spell out why this is important. Don't give him what he wants without exacting some pain from him with this base.

Yeah no kidding. Little Nazis like Stephen Miller can't like this.

Pelosi should respond with an offer of make DACA permanent and less wall money.

Offer of make DACA permanent and NO wall money, plus non-wall border security money, contingent on the release of Trump’s tax returns first.

Yeah, but she hadn't hear Dotard tell us about coyotes, drugs, crime and raping. 200 miles of wall and its' done.

"this is  a common sense compromise...[that I just told you about.]" This is terrible.

Rs negotiating amongst themselves without including the D leadership .. to own the libtards. #artofthedeal

Pelosi should tell him to go fuck himself and open the government. Dems are winning. This isn't going to move things an inch.

Wait why are we making a down payment? I thought Mexico was paying for it.

"bipartisan steps." Like shutting down the government for a month, holding dedicated public servants' salaries, critical services, and perhaps the entire economy hostage to get your pet policy project without any comparative analysis of alternatives? Okay. What a joke. This is amateur hour.

It's hard to think of three bigger bitches than McC, Kush, and Pence huddling in the Capitol trying to come up with a plan. The only bigger one would be the orange pustule drinking Diet Cokes in the WH.

Let's see how big of an emergency this really is: Dems should offer him 10 billion for the wall in exchange for making his tax returns public.

“What can dotus publicly offer to make it look like this is the dems fault if they reject the offer?”

What do you mean you don't want this shit sandwich? How can anyone turn down a shit sandwich from the President? The Clemson players loved when I offered them shit sandwiches.

So, I've been busy doing things other than listening to a barely functioning narcissist retard spout bullshit.  What is his proposal, exactly?

Here is what Trump proposed:

  • $800 million in humanitarian assistance
  • $805 million for drug detection technology to secure ports of entry
  • Funds to hire 2,750 new border agents and law enforcement professionals at the border
  • 75 new immigrations judge teams to reduce backlog of 900,000 cases
  • And, of course, $5.7 billion for “strategic deployment of physical barriers” aka “the wall”
  • Three years of legislative relief for 700,000 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients
  • A three-year extension of relief for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders

Did the President say how he intends to pay for all of this or will we just borrow more money from the Chinese and future generations of taxpayers?

So...he offered pretty much dick.  Looks a lot like his sumptuous spread for Clemson.

I do not think this is going to go over how Trump and co wanted.

Funds disaster relief == another slush fund for Cheeto's wish lists

Of course Trump knew the Dems wouldn’t accept this and his obvious intent was to try to deflect some of the blame back to them.

What's funny is most of that money and terms of the deal is to fix shit he's specifically broken like the border, DACA, and immigration. So yeah give that asshole money for things he broke. Swell idea.

Pretty sobering every time we have a day like this. Realizing for the umpteenth time that most of the Rs in DC couldn't give less of a shit about American citizens.

Someone needs to explain to trump and Benedict Mitch that the US does not negotiate with terrorists, even if the terrorist happens to be the current US president/Russian asset.

Did they even bother to consult Rush Limbaugh and Ann  Coulter first to make sure they approved of the offer
