Wow so the guy we didnt recruit is starting over the one we did. I can't wait for it to be repeated every game this year.

Charlie played his guts out for Baylor, but he's one hard sneeze away from concussion protocol.

JQJ has not become one with the playbook from what I hear.

When I started reading your post, I immediately thought “brains” rather than “guts,”:then I read the conclusion to your sentence. Yeah, this poor kid needed to stop playing two years ago. Certainly the definition of a “gamer,” but sometimes, those guys need someone to step in and have a serious conversation.

Can we get Rising or Jackson back from the portal? Neither will ever start at Utah

He is currently 4th/5th on the depth chart splitting scout team reps.

Dude is wasting his time trying to play QB. If he wants to make the NFL his future is on Defense. He doesn't have the intangibles to play QB in the NFL.

Before he got injured, wasn’t there some buzz about trying to get him to move positions?

What a bad decision if so. He probably would have been 3 here. The Utah coach who talks to portal guys needs a raise.

Utah quarterback Cam Rising, who helped the Utes to consecutive Pac-12 titles before missing this season with a significant knee injury, is set to return to the team in 2024.

Rising, who began his college career at Texas, announced Sunday on social media that he will play a seventh college season (sixth at Utah). He sustained a torn ACL in his knee against Penn State in the Rose Bowl, after quarterbacking the Utes to a second straight Pac-12 title last fall.

Utah had hope that Rising would return for the 2023 season, and he attended Pac-12 media day in July. Although Rising had been cleared for practice, he never saw the game field. In early October, Rising revealed that he tore his MCL and two other ligaments, in addition to the ACL, which complicated his recovery. He had been in regular contact with noted surgeon Neal ElAttrache, who performed his knee surgery in January. After Utah's Oct. 21 win at USC, coach Kyle Whittingham announced that Rising would be shut down for the season.

Rising took redshirt years in both 2018 at Texas and 2019 at Utah, and was limited by injury to only 3 games in 2020 before becoming the Utes' starter the following season. He earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2021, when he passed for 2,493 yards and 20 touchdowns, while adding 499 rushing yards and six scores. In 2022, Rising had 3,034 passing yards and 26 touchdowns, and won Pac-12 championship game MVP honors as Utah beat USC.

Utah entered the season as a Pac-12 title contender but has had a bumpy season without Rising, dropping three of its last four games. to fall to 7-4. The Utes are set to enter the Big 12 in 2024. Rising will turn 25 in May.

If the request is postmarked from Utah the NCAA just approves it assuming it's another Mormon Mission deal

Normal guys get 5 to play 4. He has +1 from Covid and +1 from medical redshirt.

Seventh and final year.

Well if the NFL doesn't work out for him, at least he'll graduate with a free PhD or two.

What do they do well at Utah? Mining? Water Mgmt?

What amount of classes could he have left to take?

But it doesn’t sound like his 2nd redshirt (first year at Utah in 2019) was a medical redshirt.

DT might actually be correct.

Isn’t that 5 to play 4 counting the redshirt?

Glad Cam has another year to kick some B12 butts...  😋

Shouldn't he have transfered to BYU?

Upon entering the B12, they are prob the favorite to win the conference. With a 35 year old Cam Rising at QB, they will go undefeated in conference play and make the CFP.

Utah state law says you get 7 years or until you accumulate 3 wives,.

A medical redshirt is separate from a regular redshirt. It's not automatic and you have to apply to the NCAA to receive a medical redshirt year.

Marriage counseling.  I hear some of their marriages are "complex".

So Rising started his career in the Big XII, went to the Pac-12 and won it twice and now could come back to the Big XII but this time with a different team and possibly win it?

How many QBs have conference titles from two different conferences but with one team? That's got to be a great trivia question.

Yes, I’m aware of that. All players have a redshirt option. That’s the 5th year to play 4, correct? Or did something change in the time I quit caring?
