It was the 182nd-ranked Antonia Lottner. Also holy shit, Tara Moore recovered from a 0-6 0-5 match-point deficit to beat Jessica Ponchet: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/47871628

  • and fed's through to the quarters.  took the 3rd set in a tiebreaker at 3.

  • Pocket Rocket is hanging ‘em up. Helluva career for what she had to work with.

So the early hard-court swing ends with Federer leading in the Race to London. Djokovic is just 65 points behind.

Federer also picks up his 28th career Masters' 1000 title, good for third-all time behind Nadal and Djokovic (2nd if you add in ATP Finals titles, and obviously 1st when you add in Slams).

Kanepi over Mertens in Charleston... 0-6, 6-0, 7-5

Women.

Ironically, the first match that score reminded me of was Gael Monfils over Gilles Simon in Madrid a few years back. 6-0 0-6 7-6.

He's officially pulled out of Houston, unfortunately.

Caroline v. Keys in the Charleston final.

Garbine v. winner of Angie/Vika in Monterrey.

That’s pretty crazy for early April.

That is some bullshit. Tennis bets should include possibility of injury retirement. I think it used too, but I know injuries were tied into betting scandals and match fixing so maybe thats why injuries now void bets?

Eh, she's still bigger than players like Krunic and Cibulkova who didn't have a problem with powerful players. No guarantee she wouldn't have had those same injuries in college

Taller, but certainly not bigger. I would be willing to bet she was the lightest top-100 player before injury.

I posted this on November 5 on the tennis site when she first tweeted about coming back.

Lightest player on tour? Maybe some of the lesser-known Asian girls are close, little Lauren Davis probably weighs a little more.

I bet Krunic is right at or below Cici's weight. It's hard to find weight info on them because, you know, listing weight for female athletes is sexism or whatever

That's really sad for Cici. At least delPo was able to win a Slam before his wrists disintegrated. She never got that same chance to prove herself.

Two absolutely nothing Internationals this week for the ladies, one happens to be in Switzerland. Hometown hero Belinda was the #1 seed, got bounced in straights by someone I’ve literally never heard of. Good effort.

Helluva come back, also have not seen any players using the Angell racquets on the pro circuits.

Chardy suffered a brutal choke in Houston yesterday. Blew five match points and lost to someone from Chile named Christian Garin in the 2nd round.

I went yesterday and watched Opelka v. Ruud. Opelka played pretty well but Ruud was able to absorb and neutralize Opelka's big shots enough times to turn around the points and win. Usually American's do really well at this clay event but only Sam Querrey has been able to make the quarter finals among all the Americans who played
