Bowie’s letter to Governor Smith made it pretty clear that he and Neil felt holding the Alamo/Bexar was the only thing keeping the Mexicans from going straight to the Sabine.  Yeah, they were disobeying Houston’s orders, but it did slow the Mexicans down quite a bit, and given the clusterfuck that was the government and army, it gave Houston precious time that he needed.

How much fun it is knowing you’re going to have to defend Trump every day... That’s got to be miserable.

Do you think they want their political fate tied to a compromised moron?   Nah, they’re just playing along until they can ditch him.

They'd love a re-packaged Trump who didn't use twitter, and could be counted on to give a nice interview every now and then. Your view of a party being held hostage by Trump is far from the truth. The GOP won't just magically shift away from the unsavory bits once he's out of office.

It’s not my view the party is being held hostage.

Trump has been a valuable weapon for the GOP and Putin for that matter.  But like all weapons, he will eventually become obsolete and discarded for a more destructive tool.

They still hate him though.

And here we go. But we were assured the trump was sooo gay friendly and that we were being hysterical.

The higher-ups wish they could discard him. But they can't. The younger GOP will grow up with Trump as their idol, not Reagan like the olds.

It’s going to be at Liberty, isn’t it? I think any semi-respectable university would face a full-on revolt from students and faculty if they were to accept a Trump library.

Aggy would gladly demolish the GHWB library for the rights to it.

Debatable, it depends on how Trump goes down, if he goes down.

The Hitler youth movement really fell off after 1945.

Its gonna be in the back of a jersey chop shop. Price of admission will be $2.89, cash only, no change given.

On the other hand, the approval ratings for Presidents after they leave always rises. People will gloss over the child separation policy, or his attempts to demolish the ACA.

I don't think there will be one.  This shithead has broken so many basic Presidential principles I think we can add no library to the list.

I guess once Mueller's evidence drops and is slowly, horribly, digested by all of us, and he's either impeached or loses in 2020, maybe the Huckabee family could raise enough for a kind of Ripley's Believe it or Not type deal.  Branson, MO might work.  Shit, it even might make some money to pay off the Trump Org legal fees.

It will be located at Trump University

That's the myth. Houston took advantage of Santa Ana's blunder of dividing his force. Had the dictator kept his army together, no way Houston wins.

Texian Iliad is a terrific book about the military campaign. The men at the Alamo expected reinforcements some of whom were intercepted by Mexican General Cos.

I love the myth of the Alamo and what the myth means to us. The real story is pretty interesting, too. Still took balls to stand on that wall and then retreat to the barracks for a vicious final fight.

Trump will have the last laugh over Pelosi, Shumer and all the rest when the Feds get sued by the states over their failures surrounding illegal immigration...With the make up of the current Supreme Court they got a pretty good shot at winning too...

Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

There's just something dirty and wrong about writing about Texas history on a Donald Trump, the antithesis of the classic Texan, thread. I'll cease. I'll just recommend Texian Iliad again and shut up.

Hard to claim there's an invasion going on when illegal immigration is at historic lows.

Really? How many illegal immigrants are there in the U.S.?   Where do you get that figure from? Do they all go down to the courthouse and register?

Caravans of thousands of them coming at our border looks like an invasion to me.  The border patrol catching groups of 100 at a time now crossing our border also looks like an invasion.

What about the other part of that? Failure to protect citizens from domestic violence.  How many people have fell victims to crime committed by illegal immigrants?

A lot fewer than fall victim to crime committed by American citizens, that's for sure.

If they actually cared about illegal immigration, Republicans and donors to Republicans should probably stop hiring illegal immigrants.

Instead, they wait until the middle of January 2019 to fire them from their golf courses and hotels.

Let me guess.  You became a constitutional scholar in oh, 2009.  Just. Shut. Up.

Put on your red hat and go to your rally at the Reichstag, you dumbfuck.  Your president lost his balls to a 79 year old grandmother.  Think about that.

That depends on how the courts interprit it? The last time the states sued the feds over it they threw it out because they said there was not an invasion.  Maybe they could see it different this time given the large caravans and the make up of the Supreme Court...

You mean the large caravans that get stopped at the border?

OK.

Again, how do you prove they are all apprehended at the border?  Nobody in the world can even give a completely accurate figure on how many people are here in the U.S. illegally.
