On the campaign trail, Donald Trump promised to keep the prison for terrorism suspects in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, open.

"We're going to keep, as you know, Gitmo, we're keeping that open," Trump said at his Nevada caucus victory speech on Feb. 24, 2016. "We're going to load it up with bad dudes. We're going load it up with a lot of bad dudes out there." (Feb. 24, 2016)

In March, Trump asked Congress for additional funding for the military prison, which the Republican-controlled House incorporated in a 2018 spending bill currently under consideration.

The bill would provide $115 million to build new military barracks for U.S. troops stationed at the base. It also contains language that would shield the detention camp from closure and prevent the transfer of detainees to the United States. (Jul. 7, 2017)

During his State of the Union speech, President Donald Trump highlighted that he kept his promise to keep open the prison at Guantanamo Bay.

Trump appeared to suggest that more prisoners could be sent to the prison in the future.

"I am asking Congress to ensure that in the fight against ISIS and al-Qa'ida, we continue to have all the necessary power to detain terrorists -- wherever we chase them down, wherever we find them, and in many cases for them it will now be Guantanamo Bay," he said.

The day of the speech, Trump signed an executive order that states that within 90 days, the heads of federal agencies and departments will recommend policies to Trump "regarding the disposition of individuals captured in connection with an armed conflict, including policies governing transfer of individuals" to Gitmo. (Jan. 31, 2018)

Well he does shrink to around 5'10" anytime he stands next to Vlad at a press conference.

SNL clowning on politicians is the real collusion?  Man, glad someone is finally figuring this out after 40+ years. We’ve all been so blind.

President snowflake is about to outlaw humor.

Joe Piscopo is going to be so confused when he gets called to testify in front of some Congressional committee.

Can't wait for him to say he's cutting contributions to NATO to build his wall. He'll say it's because he's tried to get other countries to up their payments and they wouldn't so why should we. And of course his minions will fall right in line.

National emergency.

So....collusion....with whom? This fucking mentally deficient fuckboy just throws out random words, slaps on an exclamation point, and calls it leadership.

seems like a nice vacation.

Didn’t watch SNL last night, did they have another Alec Baldwin Trump bit?

Hilarious and incredibly telling that he thinks satire directed at his administration should be regulated. I’m telling you, he loves Kim Jung Un and Putin because he craves their authority to silence people that aren’t nice to him.

The president of the United States just sent a message to the American people in all caps, saying "THE RIGGED AND CORRUPT MEDIA IS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!" and no one bats an eye. Won't even be a news story, or really mentioned anywhere.

It’s a double edged sword.  If the media covers it they are just propagating the message, which is the point.

Trump is a dangerous troll, the media should treat him like one.

Pretty good, actually.

Yes, I'll have extra ham and cheese on my omelette.

In one week:

The VP continues an extended tactic of driving a wedge between the U.S. and European allies.

VP endorses strategy to enhance nuclear proliferation with hostile regimes.

President continues praise for authoritarian regimes run by Xi, Putin, Erdogan, Duterte and Kim Jong Un.

President types all caps social media message to the world that the U.S. press is the enemy of the people.

President suggests death penalty for non violent, victimless street crimes.

President strips U.S. Congress of "power of purse" and appropriation of funds in exchange for unilateral power and distribution to one person.

World stage of Allied Powers responds in cold silence to continued attacks on global multilateralism while the U.S. President's daughter is promoted from designing handbags to Head of American Delegation and sides with Russia and China at Munich Security Conference.

A guy made an omelette.

That's the United States Commander in Chief declaring domestic citizens as the enemy.

After citing actual facts about immigration, two reporters were told by POTUS that those facts aren't facts. One of the reporters was told to sit down and shut up.

In my opinion, it's (once again) an impeachable offense.  His oath of office includes his duty to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States".  That Constitution explicitly states that Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of the press, and by calling the press "the enemy of the people", he is quite literally questioning the 1st Amendment.

At the end of this, Alec Baldwin will somehow be in Gitmo, right?

Out of all the wild shit being flung around, this needs to be sorted.  What other federal legislators agree with this?  What laws were broken?  Is this a declaration or a call to action?  Is this just frivolous rhetoric?  Should these enemies be met with lethal force or incarceration?

An isolated comment like that from the leader of the United States should be immediately addressed.  I don't give a fuck if someone thinks scrutinizing this comment perpetuates propaganda.  He said it.  Does he stand by it?  Who stands with him?  The Pentagon, every cabinet member, every elected official should be required to respond to that statement.  We need to instantly sort out which statements need to be taken seriously by this person who has a very serious job and if he's not serious we need to know why he isn't taking his serious job seriously.  The notion that this statement shouldn't be addressed with sincerity is insane.

It's also the most old white person tweet of all time. The caps, the message, the grammar...it's just...perfect. This tweet deserves to be in a time capsule.
