The thing with Omar is that she belongs to a religion (you know what I mean) that basically is anathema to western liberal ideals.

Judaism isn't that.

The Jews aren't perfect by any means, but they aren't that.

All religion is anathema to western liberal ideals.

Protestant work ethic says hi.

I figured I'd get negged for the comment.

History tells us (western European etc etc) to be wary of muslims, to some extent. Also, Judaism doesn't have an edict to kill infidels.

Protestant work ethic would be a cultural modification in my opinion than anything that has to do with Christianity itself.

What about muslims in America? Should we be wary?

1. A cultural modification of religion doesn't mean it's not religion. Look at all the modifications due to the many denominations. They are all religion. And there are religions other than Christianity, not all of which are anathema to western liberal ideals.

2. What about muslims in America? Are you wary? I'm not. I even said, to some extent. I haven't seen that here. Have you?

1. Agreed, I"m just saying culture can have a powerful impact on religion. I guess it's my way of saying that islam as observed and practiced in America doesn't have to be or will become anathema to western liberal ideas due to our culture here.

2. I'm not... but as far as seeing "people" in the macro sense in America... yeah it seems like more and more are growing weary. But personally no. But then again I grew up in Houston and lived in the Bay Area the past decade so my lenses are distorted for sure.

Oh, and we also should be wary, to some extent, of Lutherans and Catholics.

On 1, I hope you're correct. Some European countries have had some issues with muslim assimilation, though. But that's there and not here. Part of the negging of my posts, imo at least, is that there are a lot of idiotic, red-neck, knee-jerk anti-muslim dipshits out there, you know, those who hold pig races next to a mosque. If you want to throw me into that group then you do you (not you, specifcally).

Pretty sure history tells us to be wary of all Christians.

Every time he posts that phrase, I just imagine Obama sitting back and smiling at the irony.

Thank god that the Benghazi probe wasn't a waste of time and wasn't done to hurt HRC's poll numbers, otherwise the Repubs might be just a bit hypocritical.

Thats because Europe doesnt integrate. They throw Muslim immigrants into suburban ghettos and refuse to hire them for anything. To their credit though, they are trying to correct that.

Traditionally, US Muslims have integrated well.  However, since 911 it has been a little rockier. While you are casting a wary eye on them, they, of course, return the favor. It causes both of you to isolate yourselves.

Not even these tweets, and let me tell you, they're real beauties, can derail the religion talk. Sad.

The president tweeted out “sorry haters!” this morning. That’s something that happened.

It is now March.  This is the last month in my timeline for Mueller to drop the hammer.  When April hits I'm going to start actively rooting for meteor.

1.  Casting wary eyes is not always a bad thing.

2. It doesn't necessarily isolate you. If you think it does necessarily isolate a person, that's on you.

**edit to add**

Regarding the claim that being wary causes isolation, I just don't get that. I mean, being outright racist and/or discriminating against others because of their religion etc., THAT is what causes isolation. And all groups are guilty of it.

But in our current times, to say that just being wary causes isolation? Really? Being wary is kind of justified. You watch me, I watch you. You see I'm ok. I see that you're ok. How does that cause isolation? Maybe your definition of "wary" differs from mine.

Maybe for a normal politician but Donald is the Jason Voorhees of politics. He is incurable herpes and will not go away.

This was already stated, but Im gonna state it again.

Olds, who have protected health care (medicare) and a protected living wage (SS) are angry that some are advocating for protected health care and a living wage.

What you don’t understand is that, unlike those socialist crybabies who just want something for nothing, Baby Boomers earned all the free shit that was handed to them.

Oh, and we also should be wary, to some extent, of Lutherans and Catholics.

Especially the Dutch.

Best. Post. Of. The. Day.

Reminds me of those polls where like 80% of republicans had a favorable opinion of the AHCA, but like 20% had a favorable opinion of Obamacare.
Forget it, they’re rolling.

It’s notable that Trump hasn’t beefed with her directly yet considering Fox News puts her shit on blast almost as much as Trump, if not more.

it's because i reckon that he recognizes her twitter game is strong. his best move is to pretend he doesn't know/care about her. if he engages her on twitter, it's going to be a losing move. everyone else he attacks on twitter happen to be terrible at social media stuff.

Perhaps but it seems like the AOC vs Trump twitter war is inevitable.  Trump just can’t help himself and you know it would fire up his base regardless of how stupid she makes him look.

His words mean absolutely nothing.

You can't take him literally. You can only take him symbolically.

For the clueless dickwads playing a losing game of "gotcha" asking why Nadler isn't running with the "collusion" angle, Democratic House leadership made it clear quite a while ago that they were leaving all that to the Mueller investigation and would focus on the other illegal shit that Trump's been up to. Today, on NPR, Nadler said there were three main topics that are the focus of these documents: abuse of power, corruption, and obstruction of justice.

Not to mention, most of the names/organizations Nadler hit with requests are involved in the Russian collusion part of this as well, or at most, one step removed.

Something that was touched upon several times in the recent Cohen hearings was that dotus does not speak directly: he speaks in code. I wonder who all has access to the decoder

and definitely too.

I got to thinking about the possible conclusions Mueller could come up with describing Trump’s behavior during the Russian interference and 2016 election.  The absolute best case scenario for Trump is for Mueller to conclude, in the nicest way possible, that Trump is a fucking moron.

There’s really no way around it even if he’s tagged as being a witting participant in the criminal conspiracy.  The level of abject incompetence necessary for Trump to do what he did from surrounding himself with lying criminals to encouraging Russian interference is on a stupidity level that would make Don Jr. look like a member of Mensa.
