October 22, 20223 yr Author added a Move for the yard and Roam mostly to bring to the office. wireless is love. wireless is life.
October 25, 20223 yr So if I’m anything less than a straight audiophile, these will sound good, correct? Looking for something that will work in home theater and back kitchen/pool area.

Looking for something that will work in home theater and back kitchen/pool area. We have an ARC and Sub in the living room. Sounds great. For traditional home theater type setup you could add surrounds via Sonos Ones. If you are looking for full on Atmos then go receiver and the hole 9 yards. I find Sonos fits my needs with much less clutter and complexity. For kitchen and pool I recommend a Move. I keep mine docked in my office and then take it outside on the deck for pool parties. Easy.
May 9, 20232 yr Hey guys; I'm looking on improving the sounds on the pool deck. What's the latest and greatest with this stuff?

Like @TexEx15 said, I have two of the Move units. Sound pretty good and connectivity is solid. We use it out back when sitting around the picnic table by the BBQ pit or on the other side of the house on the covered patio. Keep another one at the guest house. Seems to be the best option for Sonos portability. Holds a great charge too. Edited May 10, 20232 yr by Spaulding Smails

Sonos Move for moseying around the backyard. I really enjoy it. Keep an eye on the battery charge because it likes to drain itself when away from the cradle. They also have a smaller Roam, but it's not meant to fill a large space, and it's kinda fiddly to use. For fixed placement, there's an outdoor set by Sonance https://www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/amp-and-outdoor-set
May 10, 20232 yr Thanks for that, guys. I don't expect this thing to get wet. Does the One have better sound quality? I can always plug the thing in on the patio on pool/BBQ days.
May 10, 20232 yr Anyone tried the new Sonos Era 300? I am considering replacing the two Ones I use for surround, but they are a little pricey if there is not a significant upgrade in sound quality.
May 11, 20232 yr I am going to upgrade mine to Era 300s after we finish our remodel. I have a friend who just did and for surround sound they make a huge difference. For music listening he did not find it as big a difference.
May 11, 20232 yr Author Sonos stock dropped 20% today as their latest earnings showed a net loss for the quarter. Very uncool

June 13, 20232 yr Author I really trust this guys reviews (mostly does tv stuff) and he glows about the 300 kinda want a pair now, even though im all stocked up at home
June 29, 20232 yr I have the Beam Gen 2 soundbar and love it. I want to add the Era 300s for surround. Definitely overkill but I've transitioned to caring more about the audio than video for my TV setup. Also interested in the Sub Mini but bass isn't as important to me.

Have the exact setup you're referring to in our living room. We have a big living room with really tall ceilings - that setup is more than enough. Also - mini sub is great. We hide behind this teak table we keep in the corner. No rattle, clean base, and cant see it.
January 14Jan 14 10 units across 2 homes, huge fan. Figured this deserved a mention since their app launch was complete shit.

I feel like Sonos is missing out on the old crowd by selling them on the idea that their sound bars can create clearer vocals for TV shows. Many buy a nice TV then cheap out on a sound bar that is just loud. And while some complain that Sonos doesn’t provide enough HDMI connectors on some of their devices, it makes them less complicated.

I also have about 10 products and I think they sound great. But what Sonos did rushing out the app updated really alienated their loyal fanbase. Now they are a high priced product with a base that is going to be reluctant to embrace them until they demonstrate they have a plan to fix their software issues. Spence destroyed so much goodwill the company had, I hope they make it but I have a feeling someone is going to end up buying them up.
January 20Jan 20 Sonos question - is there an ability to eq the sound at all? More than just bass/treble I mean.

January 20Jan 20 Have had Sonos for years and kind of figured most of their development went into the hardware and connectivity therein. The app has always played second fiddle to their equipment that always just seemed to work and sound great to me. I had no idea about all of the app issues.

I share the same sentiment about not having issues. I mostly use voice dictation or broadcast stuff to sonos from airplay, and never relied on the app. But tons of people everywhere do complain about it, so there must be some validity behind it. The company seems to have lost prestige from a few years ago, when I started accumulating their shares (hoping for an Apple buyout). Been a bagholder of this stock for a while now...

Really was handyAlso, rumors are swirling of an acquisition

That the speakers just worked, their connectivity, etc - it’s all software. Their hardware is good, but their software is what makes them shine. I’m not trying to slight the HW, but so long as you have enough storage & RAM and made good design choices, you can software your way out of anything. Ands it’s not just the app, but the firmware on the hardware. That stuff all has to be bulletin proof. It makes me wonder how you guys use your systems. I find the app and other app integration to be invaluable. Also, any Home Assistant users here? Been playing around with better integration of Sonos, wanted to see if anyone had thoughts.
February 5Feb 5 I’ve got a Denon receiver and their wireless Home 150 speakers in my kitchen, dining room, guest room, and office, with a larger Home 250 in our bedroom. They run on Denon’s HEOS app and I’ve been pretty happy with the setup the past couple years.
March 20Mar 20 I just got a turntable, so this is a new question from me: Any of you guys hook up a turntable to a home theater + the Sonos system as a whole? I want to know the best way to hook it up: Turntable > Receiver > Sonos Turntable > Sonos > Receiver I want to be able to pump the turntable to the house, but I really want to prioritize the sound stage in the basement over the Sonos. Thoughts? Edited March 20Mar 20 by Captain Ron
March 20Mar 20 Author Turntable just needs to hook up to any compatible sonos device, ie speaker with aux or port/amp. Once its there it can rebroadcast across sonos net. mines connected to Five with signal autodetect but its sorta janky and autoplays half the time. getting slightly fed up with sonos voice features as it randomly plays shit or has false triggers. turned that off.
October 28Oct 28 Author Kinda disappointing news, but the IKEA-Sonos collaboration is expiring and won't be renewed. All their stock has been steadily clearing out. If you want something, buy it now. I'm surprised at the news. They seemed popular to retail for nominally higher prices than from just a few years ago. (Old-design electronics don't have this inflation). My local IKEA warehouses are empty. In the secondary market, they maintain pricing power. I'm trying to buy a bunch of the art frames and desk lamps for a new house and they're difficult to find. The company's stock is also recovering from a few years of wandering the wilderness...
