Michael Dickson averaged 41.3 yards a punt his FR year. Bujveski average 40.3 yards a punt his FR year.  I bet this would surprise a lot of people.

It is too damn early in the day to be as angry as I just got watching these GIFs.

Damn you, Katfid. I had forgotten all about getting three kicks blocked in one game. Good Lord, Charlie was just awful.

No.  Pretty sure that was Holbrook before he had FG/PAT duties taken away.

During the '19 season, we WILL see Cuz Punter run for - and make - a first down from punt formation. We also WILL see Cuz Holder run for - and make - a first down from Kick formation. In either case, the play may result in points, either from TD or 2-point Conversion.

If my math is correct, we are at 84 scholarships right now. Some players I'll be paying attention to when it comes to attrition:

QB: Buechele is transferring, we're just waiting for him to graduate and announce his destination

RB: I wouldn't be surprised to see Porter retire from football altogether if he doesn't like his transfer options. I expect Houston to end up at the likes of Sam Houston State, but who knows. Derrian Brown might not be able to play football ever again, unfortunately.

OL: Hudson may not play a down of football again. Urquidez has been recruited over.

WR: I'm not sure where Pouncey will find snaps on offense at this point.

TE: Cummins doesn't look to be a major factor on offense except for jumbo sets (if we ever use them) as a blocking TE. If he's satisfied with that, then he might be happy to stay on here. Leitao is still just a redshirt sophomore, but with the players entering the program behind him, he'll need to take a step this year (and our team would greatly benefit if he did).

DT: If Christmas-Giles doesn't crack the three-deep, I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave.

LB: Townsend has graduated, I'm sure he will move on to another program if he wants to play. Also waiting for word on Demarco Boyd's future with the program (I assume there isn't one). Adeoye also was a little antsy because of his lack of playing time; we need to hang onto him for at least another year.

CB: I assume Donovan is sticking around because of his brother.

S: Chris Brown is quality depth and good to have for special teams, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave. Estell needs to show something in spring ball and/or fall camp or he'll be buried on the depth chart.

K: Waiting for some directional school to take Rowland.

Any chance Kyle Porter sticks given our uncertain depth chart at Rb with the medical situation of incoming freshman ?

Pretty sure we can put anyone back there for no gain a carry. No need to waste a scholly on that.

He's one of the better tailbacks in pass pro.

Honestly, based off of that list, it’s pretty fucking easy to get down by 10 before August, and that doesn’t include unexpected other shit.

  • Whittington is going to play RB, given our dearth of options at the position right now.
  • All indications are that Epps will be at XWR, not TE, this season.
  • I think Bru will get a shot at HWR first in the LJH mold.
  • I have Floyd at Rover, but linebacker is totally up in the air. I also took Townsend off since it's pretty clear he's moving on in some form (participated in Senior Day).
  • Split the safeties into boundary, field, and joker positions. It's going to be interesting to see how the staff gets all of Sterns, Foster, Overshown, and Brandon Jones on the field.

I don't know. Really, everything about the back 8 that isn't Sterns, Brandon Jones and Anthony Cook is up in the air.

Playing Foster at nickel is one way to get all of our 5* DBs on the field at once, but I'm not sure if that maximizes his potential.

Personally I still think Brandon Jones is our best skills match for the super nickel although I know few agree with me.

That would suck for two reasons:

1.) Jones is extremely valuable as a run defender from the safety position who can play the run both to the boundary and to the field.  Putting him at nickel takes that away.

2.) I really don't want to have to watch Jones matching up and covering Big XII slot wide receivers.  He lost dudes in coverage way too many times his sophomore year.

He lost dudes from a safety angle, at which he sucks. How do we know he sucks at man coverage, it's a totally different athletic endeavor. The guy can't track balls in the air so he's a liability in pass coverage at the safety position. For somebody who is so awesome at one aspect of the game he can't possibly be worse at standard man coverage than he is at safety coverage.

No inside info, but Porter is better than nobody (even if he’s only on the scout team) and with his red shirt last year he could graduate (which helps our numbers) and transfer immediately.  If the coaches aren’t trying to get him to stay then I’d be disappointed.

Houston has been a non factor his whole career, I assume he’s gone, especially with his name in the portal there’s no reason to renew his scholarship.

Hudson is probably done but until it’s announced as a medical he’ll still count.

Pouncey’s brother is a big time recruit, just an fyi (but I know you know this from the 🤫 board).

Cummins has had injury issues but Herman complimented him in his presser the other day, I wouldn’t write him off just yet.

Giles is a true Senior (unless I’m misremembering), and 1 of only 5 DTs (including Omojo) I don’t think he’ll leave.  At worst he’ll pull a Buechele and only play 4 games, red shirt and grad transfer out after the season.

I highly doubt D Boyd is coming back especially with Kris gone.  He’s still suspended and hasn’t been working out with the team since June, and it’s not like he was going to contribute much anyways.

Townsend and Rowland both graduated and walked on Senior night.  I think they are safe to remove off the roster.  Similarly I assume Donovan will walk on Senior night this year since his brother is graduating, he’s been on campus for 4 years, and doesn’t look like he’ll be getting any playing time.

We’re already under the 85 cap and will likely still be even if we landed 3 grad transfers.

At this point we don’t really need to worry about the 85 cap until 2020 and unless I’m counting wrong we’re already around 67 and that includes Hudson, Dboyd, DonovanD who are unlikely to be on the roster come Fall 2020.  So taking a full 25 class in 2020 looks possible and probable when you consider the unexpected attrition that always happens.

It's an unpopular opinion, but I agree on Porter (assuming he moves on after the 2019 season). We need bodies for spring camp and the scout team, and he knows his role.

I'm aware on the Pounceys. I'm not advocating for him to leave, just don't know how happy he is being buried on the depth chart. Same with Cummins.

If Christmas doesn't make a Gaskamp-esque jump and is fine with being 3rd string, then that's fine by me.

Agree on Boyd, just waiting to hear the official word.

I removed Townsend. With Rowland, I'm sure he's trying to find a spot, it's just a question of who will take him (and if it's somewhere he wants to go). I actually don't see him sticking around as a bad thing, seeing as he doesn't take up space beyond 2019. If something bad happens to Dicker, we would have an option beyond Naggar.

This isn’t the best evidence but Jones dropped from a 5 star to a 4 star because he really struggled in man coverage at the all star game practices. I’m with katfid. I think you neuter Jones if you put him at nickel and you minimize Foster because he can’t be utilized as creatively as he was last year. I’m not sure the difference between Thompson or whoever wins that spot and Jones at Nickel is big enough to be worth it.

we’ll see though. If Orlando decides that’s how he gets his best 11 out there, I’ll be interested to see it.

Woth the rise of Ossai and potentially Vaughns, Orlando May be able to cover the nickel more and ask less of him in run support, allowing Jamison to operate there.

It’s impossible to be sure until the NCAA gives an official ruling, but it seems pretty likely.

Eagles at Z seems... wrong. I'd also be surprised if Imade is beaten out by a RS freshman.

The idea of McCulloch moving inside (which is gaining more and more traction) doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

Yeah. The Eagles thing is way off. He was already the backup X last year. Why would he get bumped to third string Z? Plus, Epps is basically only good at jump ball fades right now. There’s no way he’d be the full time X if CJ went down.

i wouldn’t be shocked with Imade. He’s strong and looks good off the bus, but he’s never shown much aptitude for playing OL.

I think McCulloch moving inside says more about how good Ossai is (and how not great McC was) at B-backer and less about our other options at ILB. If McCulloch starts the whole season at Mac though, it’s probably not a good sign for our defense.

What are the rules related to Head Coaches cutting scholarship players from their rosters??

They have players who will medically retire or transfer elsewhere.

Mack's not going to yank scholarships.

So what you're saying is some scholarship players are told they probably won't play at UNC and then Mack thoughtfully suggests that they might want to transfer (wink/wink)...

Roster updated for Braun's addition.

Note that Braun has the option to redshirt this season if he so chooses.
