Wow. Looks like Syria.

Is there a body count for Dayton? Looks devastating

Amazingly, and thankfully, I haven’t seen any reports of fatalities. There haven’t even been any reports of “critical” injuries.

is the excessive rain this year being triggered from the ash rising to the atmosphere from the concentration camps on our border?  Like volcanoes creating storms when the erupt?

Our weather (briefly!)
- Rain coming back into the forecast, a little maybe tomorrow, better chance of a good dump or two on Thurs and especially Friday.
- Then summer parks its ass over us for a few days - temps in the mid 90's this weekend.
- But at least these highs are just a bit above average and consistent; no spiking (yet) into 100's.  Anyway avg. temp this week is about 90° so it's not like the temps are running away).

More later.

(tornado outbreak of the last 2 weeks will finally end the current run this week but maybe not until midweek.  More later maybe).

Unfortunately that's maybe half of the paths for those 2 tornadoes.

5+ million without power, that one storm system last night knocked out electricity for almost 2% of the country.  That's more than Hurricane Ike caused.  51 tornado reports yesterday.

12 hours later and they are still searching homes in the Dayton area.  Many locations they still can't get into because of the powerlines down everywhere.  Boil water notice for most of the county (if you actually still have water), both water plants damaged or down due to power.   So far 1 dead, 35 injured, but the big story is the scale of the damage.

Those are not the beavers I was hoping for.

Anyone seen any reports about damage to Wright Patt? That first tornado went right over where the AF Museum is. It would be a catastrophic loss if any of those planes were damaged.

Their official twitter account only mentions damaged housing.

Oh fuck, this thing is a monster going through Linwood, Kansas right now headed toward Bonner Springs, which is a suburb on the west side of K.C.   This thing is huge.  Now saying debris is coming down in Tonganoxie which is several miles from where this tornado is tracking.

Oh boy, it's coming right at the Speedway.  There is a big outdoor mall, a casino and the stadium that Sporting KC plays in right next door in that area as well.

Is that true?  It can't be.  That's criminally negligent

Same parent storm has dropped another nasty looking tornado is about a minute away from hitting Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Yeah, that’s an ugly storm

So when a tornado is that frikin big hopefully the winds aren’t as powerful or am I I just thinking that to feel better?

From those pictures it doesn’t seem like it is the case.

#1288

It just depends on the tornado.  Sometimes the size of the tornado is not proportionate to the speed of its winds, sometimes it is.  This seems to be an is one.

It feels like the universe has been trying to kill off the central third of the US for the past couple years.

And that’s fair

That was at least an F3 that hit Linwood, damage is horrific.  Saw some complete home/slab separation in a live view vids.  Had a helluva storm spin up right over the top of us that headed up the turnpike, damn impressive, but it crapped out thankfully before it did anything.

#1295

only if the windspeed correlates.

when slabs are wiped clean and are all you see, that's an F5 almost all the time

I’ve been in an F3, and the Linwood damage looks worse.

Granted, this hit a far more populated area, so it might look worse than a couple leveled hog barns and farm houses, even at the same wind speed

Except McMurry.  It's the pride of our western prairie.
