Its perfect, in every way

Typical aggy.  They expect failure, so they might as well try to keep the mess to a minimum.

Ha! The closest would be a mix of the second and last ones. Although I do have some cardboard weighed down by some heavy limestone to cover the really exposed back end.

Looks like the pre-soak setting was just turned on from San Antonio to Georgetown.

And a tornado warning east of Burnet.

Recently downloaded the dark sky app since I needed a new weather app. Watching the radar loop of these storms moving in is kind of mesmerizing.

Damn, dark sky is awesome.  Just downloaded after reading this.

I love how they still use all caps (I understand why), but we've all been trained to ignore all caps posters...

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM CDT FOR WESTERN WILLIAMSON...NORTHWESTERN TRAVIS...SOUTHEASTERN LLANO AND BURNET COUNTIES... AT 1115 PM CDT, SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM NEAR BRIGGS TO SPICEWOOD, MOVING EAST AT 40 MPH. THIS LINE OF STORMS MAY PRODUCE A BRIEF TORNADO WITH ROTATING WINDS NOTED ON RADAR 4 MILES WEST OF ANDICE. HAZARD...60 MPH WIND GUSTS AND PENNY SIZE HAIL. SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED. TOO BAD YOU STUPID FUCKERS IN CENTRAL TEXAS DON'T HAVE BASEMENTS, YOU MIGHT HAVE SURVIVED THIS ONE.  ALTHOUGH A TORNADO IS NOT IMMEDIATELY LIKELY, IT IS BEST TO MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF A BUILDING. THESE STORMS MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY DAMAGE. && TORNADO...POSSIBLE HAIL...0.75IN WIND...60MPH

Since we're in ask PhD question mode. Why is the broad area not in a tornado watch when we've already had a tornado warning issued?

"DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER."  I was reading it as a straight NWS report until I came across that and spewed bourbon on my screen.  Thanks a bunch.

Just got home and it was raining hard as I've ever seen just west of Decatur. There was a little pea size hail, but mainly just lots of freaking rain.

Back... because conditions aren't necessarily favorable for tornadoes, mostly due to the straight line formation of the storms.  Watches are issued when conditions in a widespread area are favorable.  The little spinup in Lampasas was probably not a ground tornado, just strong rotation... but in a straight line, it can't get the velocities needed to get big.  The spinup is gone now anyway.

Watching Jim on KXAN and he's getting really giddy/geeky.  Talking fast and too much.  And way too much not needed.

Severe TS with a good amount of wind heading for northern half of Travis, including northern half of the metro.

Storms seem to be slightly weaker intensity wise, but lots of rain - has morphed a bit into a larger mezocyclonic systerm (i.e. bigger blog of rain behind it, not just one line in/out.  I think we'll pick up a good 1 1/2 inch on avg. through the area, probably more than 2 inches in some spots.

Storm is here in Bee Cave, so far not really electric, but lots of wind, house doing a lot of creakin' and squeakin'.  Rain picking up.
In other words, a spring thunderstorm.

I didn't get no peas in Lakeway. Cool. I'm sick of buying new roofs due to hail.

Nobody in Texas should ever buy a roof.

see ya goodbye GIF

So we can go to bed.  Just lots of noise and wet stuff.  Typical night.

Unless you're in Milam County.

We got a "special weather statement" giving us torrential rain and high winds (gusts to 55mph).  Expires in 2 minutes.

It's sprinkling.

So the line broke just before reaching Austin, and then re-formed just east of Austin. Nice.

Here's hoping the kids sleep through this, but probably not.

I slept through it. Woke up at 2 and just heard some faint thunder, then went back to zzzzzzzz.

Good thing she has me giving her six.
