March 28, 20187 yr He was the defensive MVP of the 2017 season, and it's an absolute travesty that he didn't get a combine invite.
March 28, 20187 yr Whichever teams ends up getting him late in the draft is going to be extremely happy. He's a great person, hard worker and a damn good football player.
March 28, 20187 yr Why are people assuming he will go late in the draft? Because no combine invite? Actual nfl coaches are watching him perform today and will watch his game tape, and see his numbers. He could easily end up a mid round pick and be a leroi Glover type DT.

Because NFL GMs consistently fall in love with measurables. Edited March 28, 20187 yr by TrashMaster G
March 28, 20187 yr I consider 4th round and on to be later in the draft. I highly doubt he is a 3rd round or better pick simply because of his measureables. If he was 2-3 inches taller he might bd a 1st rounder

March 28, 20187 yr Guys a monster. A testament to heard work and dedication. Sounds cliche, until you see it in action for yourself.
March 28, 20187 yr When will they post pro-day numbers? Do we have to wait until this garbage-ass 8pm LHN recap?

March 28, 20187 yr Height isnt as important as arm length, which usually corresponds with height. Poona's long ass arms and squatty frame are about perfect for an interior plugger
March 29, 20187 yr Breaking the man code and buying a 95 jersey with POONA right big on the top of it.

March 29, 20187 yr Aaron Donald is 6'1" and makes the Pro Bowl every year. The height is for reference, not comparing their abilities as Donald was a day 1 draft.
March 29, 20187 yr Here are some highlights of the man at work http://www.patriots.com/video/2018/02/25/college-highlights-poona-ford-dt-texas
March 29, 20187 yr Poona is a beast, it's hard to believe he wasn't invited to the combine. I know his measurables aren't exactly ideal, but he's been extremely productive throughout his career.

March 30, 20187 yr I really hope he lands in a great spot vs some shit team (like the Browns). He was such a great player to watch and is a great example to point out to kiddos of power of good attitude and hard work. Ended up being one of my favorite Horns.
March 30, 20187 yr Exactly. If you were going to design a DT you would design a low center of gravity but with long arms.
March 30, 20187 yr Dude is a beast. I will be interested to see who takes him, and ends up with the steal of the draft.
April 1, 20187 yr Any word on draft interest? Have yet to see him show up on any mock drafts but I haven't looked at many. I tend to agree it would be better to be a ufa than a draft pick after the 4th rd or so. Edited April 1, 20187 yr by pacman

April 3, 20187 yr So, where are folks thinking Poona gets drafted? First, second or third day? What tech does he settle in? Where do you expect him to play? What team may benefit from him? What success could he have? Backup? Rotational? Starter? Pro Bowler?

The rest of the answers are 100% dependent on who takes him, but I would be shocked if he does not become a starter at some point in his career. Edited April 3, 20187 yr by Vertigo
April 3, 20187 yr Yes, day 3 at best, FA at the very worst. If he goes FA there will be many teams interested.
April 3, 20187 yr Such a badass. Remember his recruiting announcement fondly. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
April 3, 20187 yr People have to remember that NFL GMs are idiots and that the Draft ain't fair. Jamaal Charles went in the 3rd round after like 6 mediocre as fuck RBs. He's the all-time leader in YPC. There's always some guys that go in the 6th and 7th rounds that end up being franchise, All-Pro talents. Poona is gonna be fine. Dude is a monster. We're going to be seeing a lot of him on Sundays for a long time.
April 3, 20187 yr I agree. Poona may not be an All-Pro due to his size, but I bet he's a long term player in the league. He's not going to get outworked and I look forward to cheering for him no matter which team he ends up going to.
