January 11, 20196 yr Got a fucking stone induced chip in the front windscreen. It's about 1cm, doesnt look too deep, and hasnt spidered out. Insurance says if its a repair (resin-fill), they'll cover it. If it's a replacement, I'll be out the deductible. Has anyone had a repair before? Satisfied with result? It's smack dab in the middle of the windscreen, so not directly ahead of driver's sight line
January 11, 20196 yr Take it to one of the thousands of places that repair before it spiders out and you have to replace the windshield. You will always see it a bit, but they fix them pretty good. I get these once a month thanks to a long commute and shitty Houston roads.
January 11, 20196 yr In this country you can even go to AutoZone and get a diy kit. I've used it with success. Not sure if that's available in your communist country, though 🤷🏿♂️.
January 12, 20196 yr You didn't happen to see a tow truck on an overpass immediately before the chip happened, did ya?

January 12, 20196 yr By Jove, that is a Willie of a hard line. Get a mobile repair service to have a dekko at it; spending too many quid on it? Codswallow!
January 12, 20196 yr Most insurance covers it for free, and it will not impact your deductible at all. Fast and effective. Just get it done before it spreads. And it can spread fast. Until it’s fixed, leave your car sitting in the sun at your own risk

January 12, 20196 yr You there, fill it up with petroleum distillate, and re-vulcanize my tires - posthaste!
January 13, 20196 yr On a related note, when Mrs. Brat turned on her wipers the other day, apparently there was some kind of little stone stuck in the blade. It left a full arc scratch all the way across the windshield. It is a faint scratch visible mainly when the light is just right, otherwise not too noticeable. Kinda like someone scratched a window pane lightly with a diamond ring. Of course we know it’s there and it really bothers her even though it is above our line of sight. The car is only two years old. Can something like that be polished out?

January 14, 20196 yr Bollocks! Get it mended straight away or it will worsen. Don't wait until you go on holiday next.

January 15, 20196 yr It's about time for this OP bloke to put his luggage in "the boot" and motor the fuck away from this thread.
January 15, 20196 yr I get it done whenever I get a chip. Never had a problem with it spreading afterwards. If there is a crack already, they can usually even fix that and it will make the crack almost invisible. Edited January 15, 20196 yr by kevwun
January 15, 20196 yr Yep, I've had it done and here in Aus there are companies that will come to your work and do it in the carpark while you carry on with your day, never had an issue afterwards.
January 15, 20196 yr Author this motherfucker here and then i've got 3 very very minor, scratchless dents. 1 squarely because of the wife (left hinged gate unlocked). so maybe take it to a PDR shop to get it all done at once. no idea cost...100-200$ per dent? insurance is already pretty expensive, and deductable is 250-400 or so

January 19, 20196 yr Ended up being $155 Bc I mistakenly told him I didn't have a heated windshield which woulda tacked on $60 extra... no need for it in Tx really anyhow so f it.
