July 29, 20187 yr Hamilton by 17 seconds at the checkered. Stupid pit stop. Vettel/Ferrari has pissed away a great opportunity/season. Edited July 29, 20187 yr by PittsburghTiger
July 29, 20187 yr I love Formula 1. I hate tracks where its is almost impossible to pass. I hate that there are only six competitive cars that can win a race.

July 29, 20187 yr Well, time to hit the store. Germans coming tomorrow. Time to get to the store for some grilling meat and ingredients to make the gazpacho.

July 29, 20187 yr Google gave me a got-damn notification of the result. Right there between the Astros score and the weather in the notification tray. Fuck!

Yeah I was successfully avoiding all the German GP news for several days during my Mexico trip. Didn't think I'd get a spoiler in the title of an email, from F1 of all people ... but I did. FML.
July 30, 20187 yr Botas is the wingman at this point in the year. Bring home the constructors cup and help Hamilton win another drivers cup. He’s the second driver at this point. He is behind in points. How about Gasley finishing 6 in a Honda power ToroRoso?? Kid had a good day and beat the Renault power McLaren. I felt bad for Vandorn. He was running well.

He was running well. Bottas was always going to be Lewis's wingman and was never going to be anything more than a second driver. He's naive if he really believes otherwise. After the way Nico got under Lewis's skin, Mercedes only ever wanted someone to support Lewis and not make waves, not someone who can compete with him. Re: STR v McLaren, STR had a good strategy & Gasly did have a very nice day. McLaren had a pretty nice day overall too, minus the gearbox failure for SV. STR can beat McLaren on some tracks, esp when the McLaren gearbox keeps breaking, but it's not because of Renault power sucking or Honda power being better. It's because the 33 is fundamentally compromised and flawed. Alonso said a couple days ago that they're spending 70% of their FP time now just testing 2019 stuff. Watching them in practice, I believe him. Edited July 30, 20187 yr by wood

July 31, 20187 yr Author I've been constantly behind lately so I haven't been able to follow or participate in the thread out of fear for spoilers, but I got a kick out of this pairing in my Twitter feed.
July 31, 20187 yr Looks cool, but that big hunk of metal behind the left front tire is bound to slow them down considerably. They might want to re-think that new bit of aero.
August 1, 20187 yr Ha! Oh, I see the smiley now & figgered out what you meant. Oops... Is it just me, or does that simpler, graceful-looking wing look pretty sexy? Edited August 1, 20187 yr by wood

August 3, 20187 yr Danny leaving Red Bull at the end of 2018. Rumor mill says he's going to Renault with Sainz to McLaren and Lando Norris to Toro Rosso.
August 3, 20187 yr Daniel Ricciardo to Renault confirmed. Yeah, I dunno. It's possible they presented him with a road map to a championship a la Mercedes with Lewis. However, in 2012 Mercedes had already won in China and should have won Monaco so they were in a much better position. Change of scenery and a money offer he couldn't refuse might have been enough. I guess I'm a Renault fan now.
August 3, 20187 yr I'll root for Ricciardo no matter where he is, but I don't have much hope we'll be seeing him on the podium with Renault. Hope I'm wrong.
August 3, 20187 yr What about Sainz to RBR? They still have his rights, I believe. They could trade them for Lando Norris, but then who gets the RBR seat?Ocon? Vandoorne? Gasly? Sainz is the most qualified at this point out of all those guys.
August 3, 20187 yr Sure would have loved seeing him in red, no offense intended to the iceman of course.
August 3, 20187 yr AUGUST 3, 2018 Daniel Ricciardo is leaving Red Bull for Renault at the end of the 2018 Formula 1 season.
