"Cotton seeds carried to the moon by a Chinese probe have sprouted, marking what could be the first plant to ever grow there, according to Chinese government images.

In making the announcement Tuesday, Chinese researchers released pictures from the probe showing the tiny plant growing in a small pot inside the spacecraft, hundreds of thousands of kilometers away from the Earth."

Imagine when they start growing moon shrooms

Race to develop the world's most expensive cotton ball has been won.

Way out yonder in the land of space cotton

Old times there are not forgotten

I make joke, I make joke, I make joke

Pee in your coke

In the book and movie, The Martian, doesn't the narrator state that growing something in a new land makes that place officially a settlement? Does a person have to be present to make that so if it even is so?

Hmmmmmmm.

Not sure growing a plant inside a spacecraft and growing a plant on the surface like in The Martian are the same thing, landmark wise.

Apparently 6X farther than Mao's first attempt.  If only he had been able...

Cotton is an odd choice. It will be pretty obvious when they pee in it.

Why not rice?

We'll have to make a misery compromise.

Smart move to put pressure on trade talks with US.  China is the number world importer of cotton.  Brilliant move.

Chinese farmers on the moon. Is there an aggy slant to this?

If you stack all the dead end to end that Mao killed, we probably get there

somewhat cool but whats the difference between growing it on a spaceship there or growing on a spaceship orbiting earth which i believe we've already done with other seeds.  it's still grown in an artificial climate of a motherfucking spaceship.

They are testing the effects of the moon's reduced gravity on insects and seeds.

(You know how "sciencey" those people always are)

The moon is so last century; we’re on to mars now.

learn me on this.  how different is the gravity from orbiting the earth to that of the moon?

Seems like they could focus on something more useful like seeing if ants can be trained to sort tiny screws.

Agreed. But in fairness, our Idiocracy is losing its mind about fast food, so I still think they win.

If this leads to cheaper 20 pair per bundle socks at the flea market, I'm all for it.

Probably not.  Chinese are pretty short.

If I died in Fujian Province, Would it make the evening news?
They too busy blowin' rockets, Growin' cotton on the moon

No one really knows because our moon "landing" was faked, but Hollywood thinks you could bounce around like tigger and weigh less.

But moon's gravity is still too strong for Kyler Murray to even sniff 5'10".

But did they plant a flag on the moon?
Because otherwise that bitch is still ours!

That flag was probably made in Shenzhen tho

After reading about this earlier today, I learned the daily surface temperature on the moon ranges from -200 to 200 degrees F.

They'll CLOG THE INSTRUMENTS!

Probably not.  Chinese are pretty short.

Yeah, but soon they’ll be shitting in high cotton.

Yeah, we’d have to combine Mao, Stalin and Hitler to get there.   But that’s it!!

Who are they going to send  to pick this cotton?

Moon crickets?

Cotton got his shins blowed off by the Japs and then at age 75 fathered a son whom he also named Hank. I don't think the Chinese realize what they're messing with, the Cotton seed is a volatile thing.
