August 2Aug 2 Popular Post Luckily it only lasted a day. Im out of here as soon as the mesna bag finishes up. Yes having to go to the ER plus 4 days extra hospital time on top of 5 days every 2 two weeks is brutal to the psyche. I told the Dr this is no way to live. He said its the only way if you want to get through this. I haven't even had surgery yet so I'll quit my whining. Ive been lucky with this shit so far. Edited August 2Aug 2 by MissingInAction
August 2Aug 2 @MissingInAction, maybe stop thinking about "having" to go to the ER, and realize you are "getting" to go to the ER. Me I am waiting to go to the dermatologist on the 11th to see if this mole under my right eye that is growing into an imbedded Mango worm is something harmless that they slash off, or another wandering-kidney-cell-tumor-growin-out-my-face that they slash off. A few years ago I woulda Lost My Damn Mind thinkin about it, now it's "take a number, buddy." If there must be a scar, I am hoping for a Charlton Heston El Cid battle-scar scar.
August 2Aug 2 Popular Post I got a few Longhorn Cameos from friends/family - this one from Dicker takes the cake. Sorry in advance if this shows up as just a link instead of the video being embedded…I am terrible at the Internet.

I saw that recently after about 50 years. There are several scenes that seem extremely slow with the music waxing and waning elegantly while Sophia Lauren gazed serenely standing on a stairway or something - and I realized that anyone watching it on their TV today would have no idea the entire purpose was to allow wide screen Cinemascope to convey an image of grandeur that is completely lost on a small screen. Also, cinema aficionados agree that Sophia Lauren had great tits. RD, when people ask you about it, you could also mumble some barely intelligible comment about “Heidelberg” and “epee”…

August 6Aug 6 Popular Post Watched Terms of Endearment the other day. Great movie, Debra Winger was pure girl next trailer smoke. The last 30 minutes really brought the dust. When first diagnosed i was having all of those conversations in my head. If things go south I hope to have that level of resolve in the final days. Fuck cancer! On the happy side of things i booked a luxury bus and a stay at Houston Hyatt Regency for the next MDA visit. Aside from the usual assessment I'll be going through a trial run for radiation. Whatever that means.

The ex-wife and the son and a gal Jack Lemmon’s character meets set up a tribute dinner for him while he is still alive. He can be honored and hear all the things people would say at a wake or funeral or memorial service. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, but when I got sick I did think about it a number of times. There is great value in what they did for him while he was alive. Hang in there. You’re going to a great place to be treated. My guess is the initial radiation appointment is just for them to get you measured and set up and get the freaking permanent blue marker put wherever they need to shoot the beams, or if there will be any radiation on your head, get fitted for a mask/helmet to wear during those treatments
August 6Aug 6 The awkward part is that whenever they have to hook up MIA for anything....an IV, chemo, even just taking a blood sample, he asks loudly with a creepy grin "CAN YOU DO THAT RECTALLY?" But I say to all of y'all "judge not lest ye be judged." Let MIA be MIA.

August 8Aug 8 My car died, probably for the last time. We'll get something else. In the meantime, we are so close to our town's downtown that it's better than where I lived in Europe for hoofing around. Like today, had to take some art to the Post Office, maybe a 1/2 mile away. A little rusty starting up, crossed a low hill then downhill to the place. Then coming back, dizzy death. Stopped at every bench and rested. But instead of hardening up, each time I rested I only got woozier. Finally turned into a little bitch and called my wife to pick me up in her car. Spent the time waiting playing Tower Swap. If you want to play Tower Swap, here you go: https://www.crazygames.com/game/tower-swap If you like it, join team Mexico, my wife and I both play for them. I had a show in only two days, and was not looking forward to trying to function. Lo and behold, they cancelled it. But not for a happy reason. The show was a Hispanic organization's pig roast, but one of their members, a 20-ish Dreamer, got arrested for speeding and now sits in a jail several counties from here. Guess they figured it would just be ICE-time if they went on with the show. Anyway, the girl's name is Giovanna. She could use some help. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-giovanna-a-community-advocate-in-need

August 11Aug 11 Dermatologist says I got about 9,000 moles and freckles, and ain't one of em malignant. Which, considering my 1960s leather-brown, drink-from-the-hose, walk-barefoot-through-stickers childhood is kinda miraculous. The skin flap had already half dried up and fallen off, they nuked the remnant, I mean, hit it with liquid nitrogen.
August 12Aug 12 Going in for my number maybe 7 (?) ESOPHAGOGASTRODUODENOSCOPY, BOTOX INJECTION AND DIILATION (had to cut and paste that from my schedule site). Hopefully it aids with digestion and nausea. I don't get the dysphagia (food stuck in my esophagus) like I used to. But still get nauseous all the time.

I have second hand experience with this through my father and I know how debilitating it can be and the difficulty just getting enough nutrition with the restrictions caused by the surgery. Nausea and reverse eating makes the matter worse. This bump also reminds me to check when I'm due for my next EGD.
August 13Aug 13 Minor bitch session here. I have bleeding in my bladder due to a hole that developed around the location of the primary colon tumor. The bleeding varies from being not noticeable in urine to pissing out cherry kool-aid. The problem is that the blood will sit in the bladder and start to clot so every piss I take is a roll of the dice of normal piss, slight effort needed to clear small clots, or big effort to clear a big clot. Last week I pushed so hard I strained an abdominal muscle and could barely walk for 3 days. I know one of these times I'm not going to be able to pass it and will have to have the er handle it, which adds another stress level to pissing. Oncologist and urologist are trying to figure out a good solution. These are the things no one tells you that you'll be dealing with when you get diagnosed.

My dad had bladder cancer and had to be infused thru the urethra every time, straight into the bladder. I hope you don’t have to have them mess around in there too much. But I do hope they can patch that hole.

Can they staple a Twinkie into the organ wall as a hole block - you know - something that will never dissolve or be absorbed by your system? Aw man, hate to tell you, but they had creative difference over whether between bands professional cleaners should mop up the blood-soaked areas in front of the stage, or just leave it to dry, or, and this was my favorite, throw mops into the mosh pit and whatever happens, happens, maaannn. But EBID is all corporate now and thinks they puke up green M&Ms. Heard they switched to Necrotic Beauty Mark as their opener, with that zombie trance drone they do. Yeah that'll be lively, not
