March 12, 20196 yr 7 minutes ago, Js1 said: Yeah if Center was willing to throw away his reputation just to help fund the tennis center because the school was dragging its feet, heads should roll at Texas. A worse scenario would be that somebody in the admin knew about and encouraged this as a "workaround". If so, that person will probably be ratted out and is also toast.

At the time, former athletic director Steve Patterson told Center and UT tennis alumni that they alone would have to raise the funds for a new facility. Normally, the school takes out long-term debt for most facility projects. https://www.hookem.com/story/three-year-journey-without-home-almost-finished-texas-tennis/
March 12, 20196 yr As expected, Bruce Berque is the interim head coach. Edited March 12, 20196 yr by Texas Wahoo
March 12, 20196 yr "per me"I finally found an attribution even dumber than everyone around here who gives credit to TFloss for other people's work.
March 12, 20196 yr Author Just because of “per me” I hope that uninspired operation name he came up with never catches on. It’s undeserved. The hubris of brian Davis Edited March 12, 20196 yr by perfectchaos007

March 13, 20196 yr Author The team was understandably distracted today but still pulled off a 5-2 win over Rice. Up next: #1 Ohio State this Thursday on LHN Edited March 13, 20196 yr by perfectchaos007

March 13, 20196 yr Ohio State lost to the Ags the other day. It was their first outdoor match of the season (and first loss). Hopefully they're still not adjusted Thursday.
March 13, 20196 yr From former player Michael Riechmann... Quote As a player of his, I'm absolutely shocked lmao. The funny part is the aforementioned kid showed up on our roster for 2 days and we found it strange at the time but now it all makes sense. Center is an absolute class act and nice dude but guess you can't always judge a book by his cover.Nope, that would have been extremely funny, but we never had the pleasure of meeting the kid. He just showed up on our roster ... and I'm starting to think my coach ****** that up as part of the whole keeping it secret part lmao. That's the surprising part more than anything ... Like he had an extremely cush job with so many extra benefits it made no sense to me.
March 13, 20196 yr So.. I take it this is going to be a lengthy search or is there a heir apparent to this position?

CDC took his time with track and softball. Has shown he wants the cream of the crop. Most likely nobody will properly have an interview until after the season is over in mid May. March 14, 20196 yr A bit sad to see Center go. I've had conversations with him in the past and he's a really sociable and relatable person. Unfortunately greed got the best of him. Edited March 14, 20196 yr by Aleemay

March 14, 20196 yr Author Good crowd today even during spring break week. Texas takes the doubles point against Ohio State....the first doubles point Ohio State has dropped all year.
March 15, 20196 yr Author Ohio states best player is playing a pro tournament this week. Good chance to steal a win like aggy did earlier this week
March 15, 20196 yr Seems like there is a lot working in the favor on this hire. New facilities, good team, and apparently a good recruiting class coming in (assuming the next coach can keep them).
March 15, 20196 yr Author The cake truly is baked for whichever coach takes the reigns of this program. It would be tough for almost any coach to turn down
March 20, 20196 yr Surprised at the number 1 ranking considering Ohio State and Texas are tied H2H and Ohio State was playing without their top player last week. This is the human poll. On the computer polls, Texas is still number 3.
March 20, 20196 yr Still pretty impressive for a team that doesn't have a permanent head coach. If this team achieves something great this year (Big 12 title and a long run in the tournament), does Berque get the job? It would be the easiest transition and he's been a head coach. Edited March 20, 20196 yr by Js1
March 20, 20196 yr Problem with Berque is that he'd be a step down when looking at his coaching tenure at Michigan. Only advanced to Sweet 16 once, never won a conference championship (in a conference with only two powerhouses), only one ever top 20 final ranking... If this team makes a deep run, questions also remain how much of this is Center's work
March 20, 20196 yr Author Tennis is more about recruiting than game day Xs and Os. Development is important as well but cases like Colin Markes are too few and far in between to rely on lower ranked recruits developing into starters by their senior year. You really have to get a couple of blue chip recruits annually to be a good team. Center had been doing very well from a recruiting standpoint over the past 6 years starting with Soren-Hess and as a result we’ve had some very good teams in the latter half of this decade. We need a proven recruiter for our next coach... Someone who has a record of landing the best foreign and domestic tennis players. We’re not looking for the Mensa of tennis here
March 22, 20196 yr As a CU alum, this is the one time a year I don't pull for Texas. Our legendary coach Bid Goswami is retiring after this year, and this is about the best team he's ever had, so the motivation level vs. Texas' coaching situation is interesting.
March 22, 20196 yr Author Columbia lost to TCU just a couple days ago so they’ll be hungry to leave the state of Texas with a win.

March 24, 20196 yr Author Tough 4-2 lost to USC today. We swept them last time we played them a couple months ago. Now conference play begins and it’s tough as ever
March 30, 20196 yr Author 7-0 victory tonight over #29 TTech. At #29, Tech is the lowest ranked Big 12 team so it gets much tougher from here
