August 7, 20187 yr Luna's trifectas dose is $30 a month, but I'll spend that on booze in a couple days so I really can't complain.

August 7, 20187 yr Man. Losing Chloe has been hard on the family. But I think Sadie (15 yo) is taking the loss of her sister the worst among us. She spent all day yesterday sleeping and lethargic. She did manage to eat this morning, but definitely not her usual appetite. She’s never lived a day of her life without her sister. So, I’ve decided to do something drastic which i will no doubt regret for a bit - I’m adopting Rigby. A 10-week Old labradoodle whose original adoptive parents realized was too much for their young family. She’s never going to replace Chloe, but we have a hole in our hearts that needs filling. And this sweet girl needs a forever home. And she was born three days after Chloe (16 years prior). My girls are beyond excited to meet her this Saturday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
August 7, 20187 yr Author Sorry to hear about the losses, but happy to hear about the new additions. Gabi has been referring to our dogs as her “dragons” lately. They protect from the witch that wants to turn her into a frog. Papai doesn’t know how to do hair, but I kind of like the wild stylings.
August 7, 20187 yr Author Khaleesi is cute. Haha, I had to look that up (I guess I am the only one that doesn’t watch that show). Thanks.

She's so big now!
August 8, 20187 yr Author Wow, I don't think I've seen Gabi since she was a tiny infant! She's so big now! Yep, growing like a weed! Her sister Amelia turned one at the end of May. For some reason it feels like she is taking forever to get to the talking and walking stage. Here she is with Jaca. Poor Jaca is getting old and grey. Sorry y’all, most of my dog pictures have kids in them these days.

August 10, 20187 yr We lost Lola last Saturday night and yesterday I took Ruffas to the vet for a growth on his paw and the vet says it looks malignant. It's doubled in size in two weeks. We're going to see a specialist on Tuesday and I'm hoping against hope that it isn't cancer. We're all heartbroken over losing Lola already. Losing two back to back would be devastating. Thoughts for Ruffas please.
August 11, 20187 yr So we picked up “Rigby” today and my girls saw her, looked into her hazel eyes, and immediately declared her name didn’t fit. So, without further ado, meet Bailey Sage...Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
August 12, 20187 yr Blue visits the surgeon on Monday. With the meds having her feeling better, I've realized the vocal nature of a Husky, combined with the higher pitch of a Heeler's voice, is not the best combination. Geez...

August 12, 20187 yr Bailey Brown Jackson said goodbye today at 3:25pm after a 15 year career of bringing joy and happiness to all who knew him (squirrels and other rats being the exception). He had a long and distinguished career of brightening the lives of those whom he came in contact with, and filled our hearts with a lifetime of memories which we are now left to cherish in between the sadness of losing him to cancer. I have always believed that he gave his very best every day to me in being my best canine friend and that someday it would be up to me to return the favor by being a responsible pet owner and letting him go rather than suffer. We awoke this morning at 6am and after going outside, I held him in my lap for the better part of three hours, knowing that today was the day we would make our last awakening on earth together. His demise was sudden, his suffering minimal, and his exit swift without pain. There is a hurt in my heart that I know will be replaced by another wonderful rescue dog someday, but for today, it just aches to see all of the places where he once slept, ate, played, and lived. My hope is to live out the rest of my days with the same outlook and attitude that my precious boy did. Good dog, Bailey-see you on the other side.
August 13, 20187 yr RIP Bailey. The last couple of weeks have been tough for a lot of us. Ruffas visite The Hope Center on Tuesday. Hopefully they’ll have good news. If not, we’ll keep him comfortable as long as we can and do the right thing when necessary.

August 13, 20187 yr Worst part of this thread. We have enough dogs for it to be too regular of an occurrence.
August 14, 20187 yr We lost both our dogs in a two month time two years ago. Finally back to it after getting Wylie yesterday. He's mostly cattle dog. Mom is a heeler/bulldog and dad is a black mouth cur.

August 14, 20187 yr I always thought that when Ski, my oldest goes I'd add up his vet bills. That was five years ago, I'm just glad hes still with me, worth it, espescially the shit I put myself though, and having to deal with tough circumstances before, during and after, he greets me with a howl and I love it. Anyways, teamBlue!
August 16, 20187 yr This is how my daughter wakes up most mornings. These two are inseparable. Zoe is looking at the camera, Hank is in back

I've lived through the lives of 4 dogs and it makes me cherish Bo even more for what he brings us every day: 'my purple tongue camouflaged by the ferns' the daily vigil
August 17, 20187 yr Beautiful... I am in the hunt for a new one, scouring the shelters. There are so many wonderful choices (it breaks my heart people don't appreciate them) but I know the dog will pick me eventually. Edited August 17, 20187 yr by pacman
August 17, 20187 yr Ranger at 17 weeks. Ears are taking a break from the posts for a little while. They are coming along nicely.
August 17, 20187 yr Ruffas update. He's still with us. The Hope Center couldn't tell us anything except that they wanted thousands and thousands of dollars to deform his paw. We've consulted with our regular vet and comfort is the recipe right now. We changed his bandage yesterday and it was rank. We are hoping if we can get the infection eradicated he can have some quality of life. He's a big dog and is 11 1/2. If we can keep him comfortable and infection free I hope he will be with us for quite a while. However, we know that as a big breed our time with him is shorter than we'd like it to be. On a different note, the Aggie neighbor is coming to a cookout at my house tomorrow. Should I put the goats under lock and key?

He's still very timid and is pretty shy to venture further out into the yard. It makes no sense. About 10 neighbors helped look for him and nothing. Could something have snached him up? I can't make any sense of it. Fuck me. If any of you live in the SW Austin Escarpment and SH45 area, please check the street and yard for this guy.

August 20, 20187 yr that sucks pants.... If you know the exact timeframe, I would ask your neighbors if any of them have cameras that face whichever side of the house he was in to see if someone snatched him. its possible he escaped, but dog snatchings are a real thing.
August 20, 20187 yr I hate to say it, but at that size a hawk or some other predator may have snatched him out of the yard
August 20, 20187 yr Thanks. Hmmm, I was in the front yard watering some plants for those 5 minutes, so don't think it was a person. Walked the wooded area behind our house and the streets again for a couple of hours this morning again. Found some interesting animal skulls and shit but no Wylie. Makes no sense how the little fucker could just vanish.

August 20, 20187 yr Yes, dusk is prime time for that activity. Sorry man. My folks had a problem with coyotes coming into the back yard. A weekend of Luna hanging out, pissing along the fence line, and snarling at everything that approached the yard put a stop to that.
August 20, 20187 yr Lexi passed unexpectedly Thursday night. She was about 11 or 12 years old and it was way too early for her. She was in perfect health until late in the night and it all happened so quick. It was crazy. I’ve never had anything like that happen before. We definitely weren’t ready for this and our family is torn up. This is my kids first loss and having to explain it to them made it so much worse. She was an awesome dog.
