Low protein levels and he is shitting all the time and occasionally puking. He is having a good day today since I picked him up at lunch from his tests. We should know on Monday.
My dog had similar last year, turned out to be a gall bladder problem that cleared up with some medicine.

I hesitate posting this as I am sure I will come off as a terrible dog owner, but if you've kept up with this thread recently you know that we had to put down our Golden, Colt, on Monday.  We are picking up our new puppy this coming Sunday.  It's way too soon as we are still adjusting to the loss of our last dog, but my wife is pregnant with our first child due in May and if we felt the quicker we got another puppy the more housebroken/trained it would be when the baby came.  We also have an Australian Shepherd that misses her brother and a puppy would be great for her.

I felt like such a shithead message breeders the day after losing our dog, and I really dread going to get this new dog on Sunday.  I am sure all of that will change once we get him though.

Trying to keep the Longhorn name theme, does he look more like a Ricky or a Sam?

Finally got him, meet Sam.

He's gorgeous.  Congrats! Have never been that much into dogs.  But, when I got this one, I get it and am hooked.  Here's mine.

Update on Dobbs

His liver is fine and after $617 in more test we should know something in 2 more days. Signs are pointing to kidneys at this point.

DO...WE...HAVE...ENOUGH...COCAINE?!?

Bailey ate another fucking sock last night that fell out of my wife’s arms on a laundry haul. Like split second she was on it like a fly on shit. Wife couldn’t get it from her before she wolfed it down. First sock she threw up. This one still in there. Getting concerned.

Damn Laundrydoodle

X-ray today at vet showed it was passing through her intestines. Asked we come back again tomorrow to see how it was progessing. Then today at 3:15, BAM!!  Puked up a bike covered sock.

Thank goodness.

Covered with a bike? That had to hurt.

Damn autocorrect. Bike sounds cooler. So I’m going to roll with it.

Made it's way back up from the intestines? I might go back and make sure something else wasn't eaten.

The dog in my avatar was a Pyrenees/Bernese mix and holy shit, did he love the snow.  Once it was cold outside (sub-zero) and a neighbor knocked on the door to tell my wife she was a bad dog mom because our dog was outside in that weather.  Wife's response was that if the woman could convince him to come inside, she was welcome to do so.

Is it worth purchasing dog insurance ? I know it wouldn’t cover Dobbs’s current issues but after $1,800 in fees this month with more money to spend I am considering it. School me on it.

I think those policies are as limited as dental insurance policies, with low annual limits that don’t cover much if there’s a big ticket item.

But I haven’t looked into m a while.

Some home/ auto companies offer “free” or steeply discounted pet insurance as a perk of being their customer for home/auto so maybe that’s an option if you don’t care who covers your stuff and can get similar premiums.

Banfield has several levels of protection but you have to have treatment at a banfield facility.

Does your vet have their own in house plan?

My vet recommended getting coverage when you get a puppy, in case there's some congenital issue that crops up, then drop it when they hit adulthood. Wish I'd done that with Blue.

Dog insurance used to be a good deal. Not so much anymore, as far as i can tell.

He's just tired.  They play all day and then they crash hard.  They definitely love each other, though.

Yep.  Both are Newfies.  He's brown and white and she's black and white.

And we do live in CO, so you never know what he's getting into.

pupper is probably around 18 weeks....  trying to get the  inner retriever in her to work its way out....

Blue ate a rubber glove last night. Immediately gave her two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide. She then went out and vomited for 30 minutes. Glove came up, thankfully.

Dobbs doesn’t have kidney issues which is good so they think it is intestinal. His protein levels are still low so we are going to keep him on his soft food diet for a month and take him back and check. If protein levels are low in a month they might do a biopsy on his lower intestine. He has gained all of his weight back and his color is now back and he appears happy.

My dog is a Malamute and likes the cold. He hates being outside by himself though. He hates it even more if it’s wet out.

Take Chuy to a neighbors house now that Ski is gone and I'm at work. She chills with their chocolate lab Bella. Yesterday I put Chuy in their backyard, I didnt see anyone outside, no Bella, but figured I got to get going, "be cool, Chuy, bye". Texted the neighbor that Chuy was in their yard, they reply back that they cant find her. Matter of minutes, Chuy tunneled out of their yard and they found Chuy tunneling back into my yard, or more appropriately, Chuys yard.

She misses Ski, I can tell and she was the closest any dog ever got to him, he did not like other dogs, but he tolerated Chuy.

Anyways, all good. Here's Chuy not wanting to leave my tailgate

Beautiful day at the beach678786ad95c255f5d049c1f3cfd5e27a.jpg

Blue obviously is not feeling the effects of her liver shunt. She likes to jump up and rip the branches off some young trees in the back yard. Walked outside, and she had decided to go for bigger "prey." I found her hanging from a low branch on one of the larger trees, branch firmly in the grasp of her jaws.

Look at my cock. Look at it!

Wife hung the leashes on the fence two days ago after walking Jack and Bon Bon. Yesterday I went out to walk them and Jack had chewed both leashes in two. Two handles hanging from the fence, two ropes laying on the ground. Welp, sorry guys, no walk.
