A friendly reminder to walk your fence line and look for weak spots. Little girl burrowed her way into the neighbor’s backyard this afternoon. I had to dig in the dirt and turn her on her side to get her out. I then piled about 3 feet of bricks in the hole.

I've been holding off posting this, because I wanted to make sure the dog was okay with our kids and other dogs.

About a month ago, our neighbors got evicted. Then arrest on some drug related charges. A few days after they moved, their out their pity bull showed back up. I heard him crying at their front door and tried to get him to come inside with me.  Eventually, I had to call the animal shelter

They tried to get a hold of the former neighbors. As did we. But they really didn't want to have anything to do with him. Because he was a pitt bull and supposedly nipped at one of the shelter persons, he was going to be put down.

We picked him up that day.

Good on you. Sweetest and smartest dog I ever had was a rescue pit mix. I miss that guy every single day.

Man, that makes me furious.  I don't care how rough your situation is, don't abandon your dog.

Quick update. He's gained 9 pounds in three weeks we've had him.

That’s amazing and real. Tilly gained 1.3 lbs in the last 3 weeks, and she’s hopefully going to max out at 12 lbs total. Amazing how fast growing dogs can gain weight, and you’re isn’t even a puppy. You’re a good man.

Hot dog walk today. Stetson has matured a lot lately and he is doing great at off-leash walks in the big green belt and fields behind my house. The downside is that he doesn’t get excited for his usual 3 mile leash walks with Priscilla. He just wants to play with dad!

We almost never walk Jax on a leash anymore. Training for off leash with the docile happy breeds is great. The only time we use a leash is around other dogs or in areas where there is a concern.

I don’t trust him on the neighborhood streets off leash. Rabbits and squirrels and dogs and kids and teenage/idiot drivers.

Blue was just scratching her chin with her back foot, then her foot must have done something to piss her off, because she then attacked it.

So yesterday a Mylar balloon made its way into our domicile on account of a birthday.

And it was quickly surmised that Ollie hates balloons. At least THAT balloon.  Won’t be in the same room as it without one of us there too. Barks at it and doesn’t take his eyes off of it for long.

it’s to the point where I’m beginning to wonder if the balloon is actually up to something.

still, I’m using it as a sentry to guard the stairs so I can keep the gate open. So far so good.

Archie just went full speed on a squirrel. He missed, but damn. Now Maeby patiently waits. They've ruined our yard.

Also, this is Bubba. He's an American Bully, but he's kind of small in stature.  But he's got them lats. Still, even though he's small, he weighs around 60 lbs. He's fairly useless. Scary looking but scared of everything. My friend was pet sitting him.

The girls got into the neighbors yard while we were getting ready for rodeo this evening. They dig as a team so they can move some dirt if you’re not watching. The people next door couldn’t have been nicer. Rang the doorbell and politely opened the gate to let me in. Those two knuckleheads were running around like BLM ponies in their backyard.

"They dig as a team" made me remember many years ago when we had a lab, a beagle, and an old decrepit chihuahua. They all dug but took turns. More than once they'd get a hole started, the beagle and lab doing their share, then the chihuahua would crawl into the huge hole, going to the bottom so you couldn't even see her, then doing her $.02 worth as if it mattered. But she was a presence in all our lives, no matter how much I tried to hate her.
