I put off spaying the puppies until as late as possible. Today was the day. Any tips would be appreciated.

We have plenty of meds.

A little late but what kind of tips? Just went through this a few months ago. I basically kept her within eyesight of someone at all times and used a shirt off of Amazon to keep her away from the incision until the stitches came out. She never bothered it once and only wore the cone of shame in the car on the way home from the vet.

Thanks they gave us some surgical suits. They’re awesome, and probably warm enough for walks in the winter.

They’re doing awesome. Back to normal within a few days. I can’t start bathing and walking them next week. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve missed our pre dawn walks.

The last photo of Penny. She just started failing about an hour after getting home today. Went to the urgent vet. She had a tumor in her spleen that ruptured.

I'm gonna miss the sweet girl. Will never be another like her.

Hook em Penny. What a sweet sweet girl.

It is shocking how happy and lovey this little girl is after spending 5 weeks in a shelter...

It's been six days, and Blue is still moping around without Penny. Goes outside only to do her business and then goes straight back inside and back into bed. She's not all that into eating, either. I'm going to have to get another dog. It's been 23 years since I've had only one dog, and Blue hasn't rolled solo since she was 12 weeks old.

Not my place, but I think there are some newly dishomed dogs hanging around the Kerr county area.

Getting Blue out for a beer tonight. Maybe she'll get some distraction.

I think if I end up with him, I'd just name him Benny, so I won't feel so bad for all the times I'll inevitably blurt out "Penny".

Looks just like my Luna did when she was a puppy.

Can't find a puppy picture so this will have to do.

Pretty sure Luna is a black mouth cur as is your potential pup.

Great dogs, love to play, fetch and protect the house.

Thanks. She was a good dog. Really thought we had a few more years at least. The issue just popped up out of nowhere.

I don't get these rescue places. The dog isn't even in their intake, it's with a foster. Have to pay their price for all the shots and stuff, instead of me just having my vet do it. Also want a letter from my vet (a phone call won't do), a list of references, a home inspection, and signed document saying the dog won't live outside, etc.

I get it, to a point, but are you really trying to rehome these animals? My vet has to write a letter? You need someone to come inspect my home? The vet referral and references explaining how my dogs live a life better than most people isn't good enough?

Do I get to come inspect your facilities to be sure I'm confident you haven't damaged these animals?

Was it Austin Pets Alive?  I had a similar experience a few years back. Ended up going to PAWS in Kyle and got a hurricane Harvey rescue with basically no questions asked.

Some place outside of New Braunfels. I understand some of it, but a call to my vet won't suffice? She has to write a letter? You can come check out my yard, see that it is fenced and secured, but you don't need to be inside my house. I really don't like people I know being inside my house. haha.

That 6-pack of Great Dane puppies is the best thing I've seen this week.  How would you choose?

actually second check, we are convinced that all surly references by rule automatically deny your request.
