Turning in to a good lookin' hound!

Much like our children, if he wasn’t so adorable we would have probably killed him by now.

Crosby update- he's responding to the meds like Trump is to the roids. He take 4 pills with breakfast and 5 with dinner. Talked to the vet last night, and he did say that one of the antibiotics has been shown to improve liver function, so that may be what's happening. But he is kind of back to his old self. Of course it's likely just masking things with meds, but I'll take whatever I can get.

BTW, we picked him up 11 years ago today. And yes, I recognize the carpet is filthy. This is a back office we were keeping him in while he was pissing and shitting everywhere. We had him sleep in a cat carrier for the first few nights. Now I don't think we could get his head in a cat carrier.

Speaking of liver function, whatever symptoms of Blue's liver shunt that were lingering after surgery seem to have completely cleared up after giving her a 250 mg milk thistle capsule  with each meal.

We got Zeke as a newborn back in 2007.  When we brought him home and put him on the wood floor, he (10lbs) ran right over to his new big brother Bailey (45lbs) and bit him on the nose.  Thus began the amazing Butch and Sundance saga of these two.  Bailey crossed the Rainbow Bridge a couple of years ago and today at 2:30 will be reunited with his running buddy. There is no deeper ache in the heart than when you have to be responsible and relieve your best friend of their suffering.  We have experienced this now four times in our 35 years together and will once again remember each canine kid who brought such joy to our daily lives.  Good boy Zeke-I'll see you on the other side along with Callie, Magic, and of course, Bailey.

Oh @pch, so sorry.  Fuck.  It’s the curse of owning dogs, letting them go.  But so worth it.  I get steamy eyed every time one of you posts about this.  My heart aches, because that pain sucks.  Zeke is an awesome name by the way.

Thanks.  When we were driving home from getting him, my wife asked what we should call him.  At that moment, we were driving down Camp Bowie boulevard and passing one of my favorite restaurants, Zeke's fish & chips.  Divine inspiration I'd say!

I don’t know if “awesome” is the descriptor, but Frank has a knack for getting stuck in the couch.

Frank looks awesome to me.

He’s getting there. He’s got his issues and challenges, particularly a set of submissive behavior issues where he’s super territorial of our home/us and is often hostile (not physically) to visitors until he gets used to them. He doesn’t care for kids at all. House breaking him has been a challenge, but we’re finally there. He can kinda flip out on Oliver (our older dog) which concerns me, but it’s never crossed the line of physical harm to each other.

As he’s gotten older (and us working with him a lot) he’s getting friendlier and figuring out the whole “piss outside” thing. Which is great, because as you guys can see he’s a really fun/awesomely weird dog most of the time.

Border Collie obsessed with squirrels. She will sit looking at this tree for hours. No exaggeration.

Our boy Dobbs has had a tough few months and has been going to a specialist now for 6 months to the tune of $400 a month and hopefully we have turned a corner. Long story short his body can’t keep protein and his weight got down to 5 pounds and the vet said of this last thing didn’t work they weren’t sure what could be done. He has had exploratory surgery a few years ago that fixed things for a little bit and now he is on some chemo meds. He has always acted fine and had spunk but just kept losing weight. Happy to report he is up to 6.6 pounds now. Poor dude is only 3 years old.

He is back with the Steelers as a backup which is weird because I assumed he would be at NASA by now. Yeah, his major was aerospace engineering.

Get fat Dobbs!

Little known fact:  Huskies' bodies are more efficient at burning calories and using nutrients, and therefore will only eat until they are full.

Losing my dog soon.  I brought her home the day after the National championship game in Jan ‘06.  I’m hoping she can rebound and find some last good days but I’m afraid she only has weeks if not days left.  Did one of those memorial paw prints today. 🙁

one good outcome of covid is that I’ve spent a lot of time with her over the last 6 months.

Lost her today. She was telling me that she was ready and I wanted her to be released from her pain.

I sympathize with you in having to say goodbye to your sweet girl.  Sorry for your loss.

Hope you two had some good last days together. Sorry for your loss.

Samson might be too dumb for an underground fence. He doesn’t understand the little flags at all, and doesn’t seem to get what the collar beep indicates. He walked right through it yesterday and then shocked himself again coming back through. He’s not a big fan of the outdoors at the moment.

Mango got spayed last weekend. It was so bizarre to see her motionless and quiet that evening. But she was back to her normal energy level, if not her normal physical capabilities, the very next day. Until the 300 mg of trazodone hit...5bfe9195d994a27e030d156bafafd521.jpg
