That's within the guidelines.

Mike Roach: Recruiting tidbits from Pylon 7v7 Houston

- Four-star defensive back Erick Young is in the process of narrowing down his top schools. The Fort Bend Bush safety said that he knows for sure that Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Alabama will make it. Texas, LSU and Georgia are the three schools vying for the final two spots. Young said that he likes the energy of Texas coach Craig Naivar, and he feels he could be successful in the Texas scheme.

- Young’s teammate Jamal Morris is also in the process of making his decision. Morris plans to visit Oklahoma next week for their spring game, and he’s planning an official visit to Austin on May 5th. While Morris has a great relationship with Naivar, the feeling is that Oklahoma holds the edge. Morris plans to take his official visits, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him to shut things down if things go well on his official to Oklahoma.

- Five-star Tulsa (Ok.) Booker T. Washington safety Daxton Hill is fielding offers from nearly every school in the country. Hill is still hearing from Texas regularly, and he said he plans to visit sometime during the summer. Texas is on the outside looking in here, but if they get him on campus they could make a move his list.

- 2020 Round Rock wide receiver Collin Sullivan is taking things slowly in his recruitment. While the Longhorns have yet to offer, Sullivan stays in contact with Texas coaches Tim Beck and Drew Mehringer. Sullivan plans to attend the Texas spring game, and he’s hoping that an offer is in his future.

- 2019 New Caney ATH Gerome Henry plans to attend the Texas spring game as well. Henry did not play varsity ball last season because the UIL ruled him ineligible after transferring. Henry can play defensive back, but he’s also a dangerous slot receiver. He’s recently been in contact with Texas coach Corby Meekins, who invited him to the game.

The background for those photo shoots are great.  I hope they change it by next year though. Stay fresh and all.  If stays same for 3 years croots will think we old and stale.  It’s Mensa Tom time not Mack and Charlie era horns.

I don’t disagree, but we just need to start winning again and none of that will matter.

Win 10 or more this year and we can go back to the laundry room in Feb.

The equipment room pics were gold.

Pro tip for everyone posting these "Texas crystal ball" tweets: they're not indicating that a prospect received a crystal ball to Texas, but rather a prospect that Texas puportedly is interested in received a crystal ball to some school, be it Texas or somewhere else.

I know it’s a foregone conclusion Young is down on the coaches board but I certainly hope Naivar lands the OOS dbs he’s gunning for bc if not the in state recruiting could get ugly if he has to try and swoop in last minute for some of these guys. Young is elite and should be a priority IMO

You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about we are recruiting in state players just has hard as the out of state ones. The in state kids know how elite our secondary class was last year and the regional schools are really playing that up with them but that doesn't work as well with oos kids. We are behind because these kids played with or against the recruits we brought in last year and we aren't playing at am elite level where kids don't mind waiting behind someone else because he knows we are playing for more than just playing time but trophies

Wilson is unreal. Been performing at a D1 level for 2 years now.

I still lulz at the guy on here who said Julon Williams was the best athlete on he filed during the LT-CJ playoff game.

Right. Because it was obviously Hudson Card.

can someone point aggy to the reasonable recruiting comments that come from an actual national power

Why?  Because they would read those comments and learn how to act?  LOL.  That's some wishful thinking.

Ha

Seriously though - when I saw him play last season against Westlake, he was just flat out better than everyone on the field. And that includes Nakia Watson and the LT QB that is also a D1 signee.

Leal was the best player on the field in that game

Wiltfong put in a CB to Stanford for Elijah Higgins

Sounds like good news on Deunte Wright

What other sport does Card excel in? Wilson is all-star in football, basketball and track/field.

Just watched Elijah Higgins HUDL.  No way he doesn't end up at TE.  he's so big and already at 215 lbs at age 16-17.  Dude has the frame to easily pack 230-240.  I just don't see him at WR long term as his body develops.

He's actually already close to 230. Carries it really well.

Whether you call it a big slot receiver or a flexed out tight end, I think Higgins will play the same role that LJH does out of slot for us, or that RSJ did at A&M. I don't think you'll see him in-line.

The real question is what other sprorts does Card not excel in? Answer: none.

Mike Roach: Recruiting notes from Under Armour Dallas check-in

-Four-star West Mesquite wide receiver Dylan Wright raved about his visit to Texas yesterday. The Under Armour All-American said that he spent a lot of time with Jordan Whittington and Lil’Jordan Humphrey. Wright got to Austin early and did not leave until late. Texas was already surging in his recruitment, and the visit solidified their spot near the top of his list. Arkansas seems to be the main competition for his services at this time.

-Four-star center Branson Bragg said that his visit during Texas relays was a big success. He was able to observe practice and offensive meetings. Bragg said he wants to return during the spring to spend some more one-on-one time with Herb Hand to discuss his vision for Bragg. Bragg is planning on making a visit to Texas A&M as well, but Texas and Stanford appear to be the front runners.

-Four-star safety Jalen Catalon gushed about a recent visit to Texas and his relationship with Craig Naivar. Catalon visited a Texas baseball game while he was there, and he said the opportunity to play both sports is very enticing to him. Catalon said that Texas is in his group of top schools, and they will for sure make his Top 5. Clemson and Arkansas are still threats, but Texas is looking good here.

-Four-star Camden (Ark.) Fairview offensive lineman Stacey Wilkins named Texas in a group of top schools along with TCU, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Wilkins cited his respect for Herb Hand and the way the Texas program celebrated his Polynesian heritage. Wilkins is planning a return trip to Austin in the spring, and he said he might make it for the Texas spring game.

-Four-star Aledo ATH Jeff Carter said that he stays in touch with Texas cornerback coach Jason Washington, and he’s planning an official visit during the fall. Carter also mentioned Oklahoma, Texas A&M and USC as schools standing out for him at the moment. Texas has a chance to make a good impression with their official visit, but there is ground to make up.

-Four-star Nolan Catholic DE/OLB NaNa Osafo-Mensah is excited for his upcoming official visit to Texas. Osafo-Mensah is planning to drop a Top 2 this week and focus mostly on those schools. OSafo-Mensah mentioned his relationship with Oscar Giles and Texas offensive lineman Tope Imade as things that stand out about the Longhorns.

-Four-star Texas A&M commit Demani Richardson said that he stays in contact with Texas safety coach Craig Naivar. While Richardson was a possibility to visit during the spring, he said that his commitment to Texas A&M is firm, and that he’s not really planning any visits at this time.

-Four-star 2020 Duncanville ATH Ja’Quinden Jackson said that Texas is very appealing to him. Jackson named the Texas offer as one he wanted his entire life, and he said he would like to make a visit during the summer. Jackson recently picked up a string of big offers, so he’s taking things slow for the time being. Jackson did mention Texas assistant receiver coach Rashaad Samples as a positive link for the Longhorns. Samples’ father Reggie is the head coach at Duncanville.

-Four-star 2020 Duncanville safety Chris Thompson also mentioned Rashaad Samples as a factor. Thompson said that Samples is like a big brother to him, and he’s just one of many reasons that Thompson is interested in the Longhorns. Thompson maintains that no schools are in the lead, and he’s in the process of taking visits and evaluating his options. Thompson is a maybe for the Texas spring game.

-Four-star 2020 Aledo RB Jase McClellan is still committed to Oklahoma, but he’s also evaluating some other schools. McClellan mentioned Texas as a school he’s interested in seeing, and he said he wanted to attend the spring game so that he could get a better idea of their entire offense.

-Four-star 2020 Hebron safety Darius Snow said that his recent visits to Texas have been very good. The jumbo safety prospect, mentioned a strong relationship with Craig Naivar, and an overall family feeling with Texas. Snow will continue to take things slowly and evaluate his options in the early part of his recruitment.

we might have us a mini-carrington in samples for south dfw.

Seen on the 247 board that Stacy Wilkins and Steven Parker ( DE from Dallas ) are standing out early in the UA competition.  Haven't heard much on Parker, he's a composite 4*, maybe we take a look at him down the line.
