Have you done a professional mental evaluation of the kid? Sure, something smells in his recruitment, but I don’t know if it’s him, his trainer, grades, culture fit or whatever. I hope the best for the guy, whichever he chooses. He’s got a lot of potential.

This is probably my favorite variation of "are you a coach?!"

Oh, are you a psychologist? Have you diagnosed him with a mental health condition under the new guidelines contained in the DSM-5? I didn't think so. Checkmate.

Yeah, it's time someone does something about FWK.  That guy is blatantly trolling Texas at this point.  He doesn't even try to hide the fact that he's in bed with Jimbo.  People think he's a legit trainer.  Legit NFL trainers don't fucking hang out with Taylor Hamm.  This dude is using inner city kids with bad support systems to his benefit.  He could care less about what is best for them.

He seems like he's transitioning from Hamm to Texags as his conduit, which makes sense since they're directly tied into the athletic dept.

How long before Hamm posts screenshots of this thread on twitter and tags FWK?

If he does, I have some screenshots from a Christmas party video that would make great replies.

You've been pumping up aggy with every other post in the recruiting thread. It's ...suspicious...

I’ve made 2 posts on the same subject in the last week.  I don’t post in recruiting much, so I guess technically that is correct.

I don’t think they are stellar. I think they are good enough that if Bama trips they could make some noise, if everything fell in place.  And I think the bag hag and Jimbo are dirty af.  I’ve also met personally 2 men in the last 6 months (1 with good $$, 1 with fuck you $$$) that both claim they’ve put out $$ to kids. These guys are tired of not winning. We all remember Cam Newton?  So yeah, it’s bullshit seeing shit like FWK and Shepard. The NCAA isn’t going to do shit to any program larger than Baylor, or even them really.  That ship has sailed

Unfortunately, they are going to have to beat Bama 2-3 times in rapid succession for them to get a shot over the bow from their conference mates.  I think it’s more likely LSU drops them in the grease eventually, but who knows

I know roller coaster blah blah but seriously thru scheduling their floor is about 5-6 wins no matter how hard this board hopes for 2-3. Then it’s up to a flake AUB, State, Miss group to determine what kind of year it is.

I was on the scat site under the same handle since ‘12 or so, lurking since ‘08 when Llano Estacado, offshoreag, and UTMike and I all shared a bullpen office.  I am not an aggy fan.

Ill go back to my hole in the hobbies forums but seriously, is there no concern of what *could* happen with 3-5 years of stacked classes due to, whatever means.

Isn’t fwk just another vulture in a long history of “trainers” in the Houston area? I am completely drawing a blank on the last guy who trained Houston kids. What was his name?

There’s enough people who have followed recruiting long enough to know there is a strong correlation between Shepherd’s behavior during his recruitment (flakiness and manufactured drama) and him not meeting his potential. Still hope we sign him.

Lyles is still in biz, I think tied to Ro Simon-Adidas in some capacity.

He's Lyles but instead of moms he loves feets.

He helped the last two blue-chips out of EHS get the right deal, Waddle & Marvin.

Footwork King is steering Shepherd to ATM. Expect them to manufacture drama and then magically sign with ATM on SD2. Not a slam dunk, but this scenario has the strongest odds. Texas wants him, so don’t confuse that part.

They can only take a class of 26 from what I can tell.  They have 23 signed with 2 waiting until NSD 2, leaving one spot open.  I guess it all comes down to how they prioritze the reamining three spots.  If they can land Banks, I don't see them passing up on that opportunity.  The other two kids are WDE Braedon Mowry and DT Josh Ellison.  If Shep wants in, he better work something out in a hurry.

this assumes no other guys transitioning out of the program/being grad transfers - right?

Thing is I think a lot aggy fans have the same perception of Shepherd as we do (see the Texags post above).

The only thing that’s sparked the interest in this recruitment is it’s an aggy/Texas battle. If it was two different schools battling neither would really care.

They can sign their 25 and only count back 1 this cycle.  The two that havent signed have work to do in the classroom.

TFB just put up an insider note saying that both freshman QB’s have explored transferring. We may need to sign another QB in this class if true.

Good grief, so we could end up losing all 3 QBs potentially because Sam became a baller?

Thompson I get. Rising is one injury away from starting next year. We'll see how real it actually is.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but the cuck is going to cause some major recruiting issues over the next 2-3 years, and beyond if Herman doesn’t counter well.

With any semblance of a secondary,  they would be in a NY6 bowl this year.

If more SEC teams had any semblance of a passing attack they'd be 6-6.

You don't need to be a professional to see that a guy who was temporarily suspended from his high school team, is a potential qualifying risk, and has been a bit of a drama queen for the stretch run of his recruitment might be a flake at the college level.

We won’t lose both the FR QBs but there will be attrition.

No chance all these QBs are going to wait out 2 more years of Ehlinger.

Yeah, not sure about this. It’s no guarantee Buechele is transferring. Seems like Buechele might stick with Texas.

Long-term it might be best if Buechele moves on.

They don’t expect to lose both, but at least one is very likely.

Exactly, Rising leaving makes zero sense to me. He seems unhappy about Shane getting so many reps.

I am surprised we aren't playing the game well with FWK. I am beginning to dislike college football as the concept of student/athlete has become more and more BS by the year. Thanks Saban.

TFloss on more OL targets

Spoiler

Coach Hand started following OL grad transfer Justin Murphy from UCLA.

He went to Belton and signed with Texas Tech in 2014.

24/7 claims he's definitely on the staff's radar.

/

24/7 saying another OL name to watch is Cam'Ron Johnson of Pearland Shadow Creek.

He recently de-committed from Colorado and won't be signing until February.

they are at 93 right now without Mowry, Ellison, or the 1 other schollie. So they'll need to lose at least 8 (up to 11) to attrition to get this class signed. In 2020 they'll only have 11 Seniors (but they will have 31 JRs - so expect massive attrition in that class).

I don’t understand the trainer improper benefits model. How does it work exactly? Lyles got something like $30k from Oregon for “consulting” but how does a trainer getting a fee actually get a player to sign with a particular school? Is the trainer giving that money, or a portion of it, to the player?

I’m still not totally convinced they want Shepherd. I think they were slow playing Shepherd much like IT reported we were before it looked we were going to miss on Coker and Hoofkin.

Maybe things changed but I don’t think they’ve ever been all in on Shepherd.

What’s best, short-intermediate-long term, is playing time based on merit. Assuming Buechele is the automatic backup is not necessarily best.

Hookfin*

Here's the story on the Hookfin recruitment from someone with sources on the Baylor side.

Here’s the Hookfin story from the way it’s been told to me. Keep in mind this comes from the Baylor side so some of the “facts” may be skewed a bit in their favor.

Originally, (I don’t have a specific time frame but I’m sure you can dig back into the IT vault and get a good idea based on Justin and Eric’s notes) Hookfin gave Texas a silent commitment which stuck for a bit.

Baylor had been recruiting IH for a while longer than Texas but Texas is Texas so IH gave the silent to Texas. Baylor’s big pitch to recruits when Texas comes at them late in process is that they’re all backup plans and will all sit for 2-3 years at least. They promised IH he would get on the field for at least four games next season. Texas gave him plans to redshirt and put weight on.

A handful of weeks ago, Baylor’s staff was able to convince IH to go ahead and take an OV to Waco for a weekend.

During the weekend (the week before his OV to Texas) they showed IH Texas’ highly ranked commits at tackle and told him of Texas’ plans to find JUCO or grad-transfer help in the short term until these two tackles are ready to go. They basically told him he’d never find meaningful playing time in Austin. Keep in mind they’re telling him all of this while having a tackle commit and also recruiting and eventually signing on NSD a Juco All American tackle.

During the OV to Baylor, they flipped his silent in favor of Baylor.

IH went on to Texas for his OV, had a good time but didn’t mention he had flipped to Baylor to the Texas staff. These were Baylor’s instructions to him to keep him from getting the pressure.

Fast forward to signing day, Texas had heard the rumors of his interest in Baylor but had not been indicated anything from IH and his family, this from what I’ve been told. It doesn’t really all add up to me.

IH had his Baylor LOI ready to sign and tipped off all the Baylor reporters of when he was going to sign but asked them not to disclose the signing as he wanted it to be a surprise. This dip**** from Baylor’s rivals site decides he wants to break the news and tweets that IH will sign with Baylor at whatever time. IH sees the tweet, gets royally pissed off at the reporter and delayed his signing until later that afternoon.

In the meantime, Texas calls him and his folks at the perfect time when tempers were flared and informs them that Shepherd isn’t planning to sign with Texas during this period and may be looking at other options. They also inform the family that Baylor may be looking at significant NCAA sanctions (some of the Baylor folks are saying that he was told of the death penalty... I heard Bowl bans) and that Rhule is bolting to the Big 10 as soon as he gets his first decent opportunity. I’m sure there were much more to these conversations but these are the bullet points I was given. With this information in hand, IH completely calls off his signing to re-evaluate things.

He had further talks with both Baylor and Texas, while also getting a call from Alabama sometime during the day to gauge interest. That didn’t get too far. He kicked around the idea for a bit of holding off to NSD2 but didn’t.

Last night, you saw the Baylor staff go crazy on twitter making noise after he informed them he was signing with Texas. They were pissed off about the negative recruiting BUT what they failed to mention is that IH’s family (not sure if a parent or who) was provided with screenshots of old Zach Smith tweets. They also used the JP and Pat Hudson flips as “evidence” of where he might go to sit on the bench for four years.

Anyways, yesterday he decided to sign with Texas and make it official.

So... Baylor was pissed off about negative recruiting, but used negative recruiting to flip him on his OV?

Lol.

The (lack of) self-awareness of these guys is truly something.

I have no doubt Baylor sells that “you will sit on the bench 2-3 years” narrative.

Just go look at Baylor fans on Twitter. They all tweet that shit at recruits.

So the big "lie" was Herman telling IH that Rhule may take a better job if/when it is offered?
