January 26, 20196 yr 24 hours of Daytona today. And tomorrow. I'll be watching intermittently - we're scheduled to move on Monday and have a bunch of shit to do around the house, and we've got a date taking the Doomlet to see Truckasaurus and Bigfoot at the Hot Wheels Monster Truck show this evening. Blackmore's usual outstanding spotters guide (my bad for not posting this sooner when you could have used company toner...) is available here: http://www.spotterguides.com/portfolio/19_imsa/ Also, keep track of the typical shifting coverage bullshit at http://www.tvracer.com
January 26, 20196 yr I always enjoy watching this type of racing. I usually tune in for an hour at a time, and end up catching 6 hours or so.
January 27, 20196 yr Really good racing so far, still close. My boy & I have watched all 8 hours so far. Definitely a first for us.
January 27, 20196 yr Oh yeah, first stint by Alonso was absolutely massive. Came from 5th (idk how many seconds back) to 1st and built a 21s lead. Then he lost the lead due a caution and then built it back up to something like 18s before the next pit stop. If it weren't for all the yellows, the 10 would be ahead by a minute or two.
January 27, 20196 yr Crazy stuff. Can’t believe they went green when they did, but looks to be a short break in the rain coming.
January 27, 20196 yr this rain is fun. was it 01 or 02 when it rained so hard they had to red flag the race cause cars were sliding off the banking
January 27, 20196 yr Author My 3.5 year old has been compulsively repeating "Augusto Farfus" for the past hour.
January 27, 20196 yr Well this certainly isn't what I hoped to learn upon waking. Just enough green for a Porsche to go hot into 1 and take out the leading Ford
January 27, 20196 yr race called, the number 10 wins (alonso, kobayashi, j. taylor, and van der zande win) Edited January 27, 20196 yr by elfenix

Yeah it seems to have taken everyone by surprise, too. No warning. They were interviewing 'Dinger (iirc?) and he said they went green the first time basically when the conditions were the worst they had been up to that point.
January 28, 20196 yr Man that looks like some miserable driving conditions. Anyway, glad to see Fred and his team win, even if not under ideal circumstances.
February 2, 20196 yr OBTW y'all, the Bathurst 12H has a nice, free stream. Qualy is finishing up soon, & the race starts tomorrow at noon our time iirc. https://www.bathurst12hour.com.au/streams-tv/international-streaming/ Edited February 2, 20196 yr by wood

March 3, 20196 yr It doesn't seem likely that many/any of you are among the 30 or so fans out at COTA today for the Blancpain World Challenge, so here's a link to their live stream. http://stream.world-challenge.com/
March 3, 20196 yr More cars than fans out there lol. Meanwhile the Disch has had great crowds all weekend... Feature race #2 is live now:
March 14, 20196 yr Hell yeah. I called this months ago ... Alonso 2020 Bathurst 1000 entry mooted https://www.autosport.com/sup/news/142091/alonso-2020-bathurst-1000-entry-mooted

Yeah I was gonna take my older boy to see Alonso in the 1000 (he's not running the 12), but the logistics were too much without him missing a lot of school. They have an extra large crowd this year, soit might've been rough even after we got there. Haven't even had a chance to start watching it yet. Guess we'll just avoid news and start tomorrow. So much going on ... Sebring, F1, Texas Baseball, plus actual lfe. What Alonso is doing is phenomenal and so fun to watch. It think he's going to do something that nobody will match in a very long time, if ever. Edited March 16, 20196 yr by wood
March 25, 20196 yr I had heard about this but hadn't seen it til now: Fernando Alonso breaks the Sebring track record by 3 seconds ... at night. Wow. https://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/a26840492/watch-fernando-alonso-break-the-sebring-lap-record-by-three-seconds/ The tweet with the video won't embed for some reason. https://twitter.com/FIAWEC/status/1106613374123761665/video/1 Edited March 25, 20196 yr by wood
March 29, 20196 yr "i can't get a good ride in F1 so i'm just going to drive the fuck out of everything else" -alonso, probably

May 24, 20196 yr BMW is leaving WEC after 1 season. Guess last place isn't worthwhile. Will still compete in IMSA but I'm not sure with what (currently M8, M6, and M4 are used in IMSA).
June 4, 20196 yr This looks much better than I expected it to. Looking forward to it. But I'll probably be watching it the whole time thinking McConaughey woulda been a better Shelby. Edited June 4, 20196 yr by wood

June 12, 20196 yr Wow. Flag to flag coverage. Has anyone ever done that in the U.S? Fox via FSGo, but not 100% on live TV channels at all times.

June 12, 20196 yr Author The Dead picked an unfortunate weekend to play Wrigley, so I'm not going to catch much of the race this year, sadly.
June 13, 20196 yr android app worked for about 10 minutes but hasn't been able to load since. firetv and roku app both require you to subscribe, far as i can tell, rather than just logging in with your cable provider. Edited June 13, 20196 yr by elfenix
