They're right across the street from American Bolt, which is a great store for hard to find bolts/screws and usually half the price of Home Depot/Lowes.

True dat. Great place for hard-to-find shit.

So, some friends brought these over last week…and they’re maybe the best store bought tortilla chips I’ve ever had. Super crunchy, but not hard/tough, and a perfect saltiness. My wife and I are both sold - these will be our go-to chip going forward.

I appreciate your ruining my 'had been working' diet.  Bag 3 in week 2.

Julio's serrano salsa

Until first of the year, they had a brand called Chuck and Dave’s that was really good. I always preferred Julio’s but C&D was a good one for a change of pace. I guess they went bust because I haven’t seen them since first of the year.

FIF the one they left out.

Apparently you don’t understand how crack cocaine works. It’s the very definition of stomped on trash.

Any recs for good sausage links?  We're doing Q for Mother's Day.

Cue "I'm going to give my wife the sausage" jokes.

All of the good sausage links now require age verification thanks to abbott

This is really good if your HEB has it, not all locations do though.

“Sausage” is often a euphemism for penis.

Bet you didn’t know that.

That would have been useful information before JJ sent out invites for his wife's sausage party.

Shit!  I always do that.  I always mess up some mundane detail.

PSA: I love Halibut but don’t eat it too often as it’s expensive. But it’s on sale for $19/lb. , down from $27/lb., through tomorrow. As an added bonus, the app has a $6 off coupon for any fresh seafood purchase over $15. So it’s $13/lb. for the first pound. Needless to say, I’m eating fish tonight.

Are HEB's standard Ridged/Wavy chips worth a shit? Always liked Wavy Lay's for sour cream/mayo-based dips, but they seem to suck lately.

I don’t know, but the Central Market ridged chips are my absolute favorite chip. I could blow through an entire bag in a single setting if I let myself.

If you love lemon pepper wings, these are so damn good.

I typically have  disdain for crazy flavored potato chips but this one intrigues me.

Mayonnaise is terrible.  Jalapeño Mayo is delicious.  As is the Jalapeño mustard they sell.

@jimmyjazz Whenever I need to do a lot of sausage, I make the drive down to Lockhart and get a box of sausage (25 ct.) at Kreuz. While their overall performance isn't what it was, the sausage is still really good.

Needed some things after work Thursday, grabbed the Mango flavor. That shit slaps harder than our hands on South Austin’s moms ass.

At my local HEB they were giving samples of that precooked burnt ends and if you wanted to do something quick and easy with that for like a sandwich they'd be perfect.

And there's a $2 coupon for them this week, ends tomorrow.

I usually get the box of Topo Chico bottles but HEB was out so I grabbed these instead. After throwing batting practice for my daughter in the batting cage out back, I grabbed some of these cold bottles from the fridge in the garage and slammed three. I don't know if it was the heat but I swear these are better than Topo Chico.

As a Yank married to a Texan, every time we head back to visit her family or friends, I am struck by (1) how much most HEBs fuck, and how good most store brand/HEB stuff is; (2) how like one out of every five HEBs is an absolute shithole, and even some of the good ones have it pretty rough in the fresh produce section; and (3) how much I enjoy calling it "heeb," and how the joke has gone from "groan" to "c'mon, enough already," to "okay, actually laughing" over the last 15+ years I've been around her and her family.

What HEBs are absolute shitholes?  The worst I can think of in Austin are Hancock, Riverside and 35/William Cannon (Oltorf would have made the cut) and that's just because of clientelle, not the actual store.  Never seen bad produce at all, and I used to be an InstaCart shopper, so I've been to most of them in Austin.

The HEB on 31st in Temple. The worst HEB in Texas

Rundberg HEB says "Hi!"

They really need to remodel that store and do something about the unbelievably shitty parking.

I used to shop the Burnet location but moved and now mostly hit-up the Hancock location. While they both have their own issues, they dominate the fuck out of that Rundberg spot. That mad max parking lot is something else. I recently swung by because they had a hot sauce that was sold out everywhere else and was quickly  reminded of how much of a fucking dump it is.
