November 26, 20241 yr Fried one of these 2 years ago and it was amazing. For whatever reason they didn't sell them last year, but they're back. Highly recommend.
November 26, 20241 yr ^^^ 15% solution is a lot for a frying turkey. That’s why I use fresh turkeys as they contain far less injected liquid.

November 27, 20241 yr HEB used to carry a HEB Natural turkey breast but I haven't been able to find one in the Waco stores since this summer. It's much better than the butterball one.

November 27, 20241 yr I'm roasting three of these today, along with a half dozen turkey legs and four turkey thighs. I'm gonna do different seasonings on each -- herbed butter on the breasts, cajun on the legs, not sure about the thighs, probably just a typical salt/pepper/paprika/garlic/onion rub. December 5, 20241 yr Not food, but I bought a couple of these a few months back and they're fantastic. I assume the rest of their in-house line of products is equally good. They clean up super easy, are essentially non-stick (no Teflon though) and are oven safe to 450 F. A pair of these fit side by side in my (very) conventional oven, which helps maximize use of space for big meals.
December 6, 20241 yr These are legit and keep selling out at my HEB. Come in a few flavors, but sea salt is just fine paired with some TD doña salsa.

December 7, 20241 yr People overthink the chips aisle at HEB. These used to suck but have been dramatically improved over the last couple years and are damn good.
December 7, 20241 yr It’s one bag of chips Michael. How much could it cost? $10?If you’re trying to save a buck on a bag of chips, you’re having too many bags of chips for what your Lipitor has you budgeted for.
December 7, 20241 yr Need to ditch that pansy Santa commercial. All else is fine. That commercial, not so.
December 10, 20241 yr I have not been in an HEB in three years before yesterday. I would sacrifice all of you to be able to take one with me to Hawaii on Wednesday. Not having any truly great grocery stores outside of Texas makes you really appreciate HEB even more.

I had stop through my hometown here in Texas because I’m moving from New York to there. I have yet to come across a grocery store anywhere in the US that is as good as HEB. Someone in New York tried to argue with me and say Wegman’s was just as good. That was some good laughs. The only grocery store I have been to that was even close to an HEB was the Carrefour I went to in Tahiti. It was still a couple of rungs below HEB, but they were pretty cool. Any grocery store that wants to have a crepe machine making them fresh each morning is good in my book.

December 10, 20241 yr 1 hour ago, threesheets said: How 'bout now? lol no. Anytime I mention places like this the reaction is invariably “something, something paradise.” I always say that what someone might see as paradise is what someone else from there just sees as home as well as where they earn a living. I spend a good deal of time listening to people talk about where they are from because of my job so I look at things a little differently. I see it as a cool place that lacks an HEB. That part, however, is not cool!
December 15, 20241 yr I think we can all agree the Bunker Hill location is the largest/nicest location in Houston, and I got worked at the butcher counter today. Asked for bone in ribeyes. The first one is fine, nice long bone, well marbled. The second one has a tiny bone, and a huge piece of tough fat on it. They shouldn’t have sold me the second one. I shouldn’t have to watch them a microscope, but here we are.
December 15, 20241 yr Take it back. May seem petty but the managers at those nicer stores have a lot to live up to and they’re expected to put out better steaks than the “other” hebs.

December 23, 20241 yr I had to go to Hancock HEB today because they had some stuff that was out of stock at other stores. Holy Moses, what a shitshow. The place is entirely torn up. HEB should have just closed one store at a time, done a complete remodel, and moved on to the next store. Instead, they have multiple stores with shit spread out everywhere, temporary coolers/freezers, and angry customers. Not well done. /grinch

December 24, 20241 yr Pro Tip: If you need some of the basics for holiday cooking, go before 10am. I went to 3 HEBs in NW Austin yesterday afternoon looking for shredded sharp cheddar. Braker, 183/Spicewood, and AM/620. 2 were out of parsley. 2 were out of Monterrey Jack. Yes, I could have bought a brick and grated it myself, but why do that when I can drive to 3 different HEBs in a 4 mile radius? None were shit-shows, though, as they've done a pretty good job at figuring out how to quickly take our money. Edited December 24, 20241 yr by boilerhorn

Place was packed, but I was super impressed by how quickly the guys at the butcher counter were working. I pulled number 47 while they were on 34. Waited maybe 10 minutes before my number was called. The guy who helped me said they opened the store’s doors at 6:55a yesterday morning and by 7a they had 15 people in line at the butcher counter.
December 25, 20241 yr Went to the Rundberg HEB this morning. Completely packed and only two registers open. Fuck you, HEB.
