March 20Mar 20 I use my toaster as much as directly on the fire on my gas stove. Both work well, less chance of burning in the toaster when putting other ingredients together at the same time. Way more than 8-10 seconds though. Usually 20-30 seconds and then I pull it out and flip it over so both ends get high heat (they stick out the top an inch or two). As the first side starts to slide down it’s ready to flip, then the other side goes until it starts to puff up and then it comes out.
March 20Mar 20 OK, the toaster method is regarded beyond words. As pictured above, you fine folks need to invest in a comal.

March 22Mar 22 What's the next best thing to Momofuku Chili Crunch? $13 for a 5oz is ridiculous and I'm not trying to give David Chang any more money. This is what I'm currently using, but it's not the same.

It ain’t HEB, and it’s not exactly the same….but I actually may like it better:Made a simple stir fry the other night, sprinkled that liberally on top, and it was amazing.

March 25Mar 25 Not remotely the same purpose or in any way an alternative, unless you're looking for something completely different.

March 26Mar 26 These chili crisps are my favorites from HEB, not too spicy but really good flavor. They do have an Extra spicy one but I haven’t tried it yet.

March 30Mar 30 I will admit, though, that the sushi counter in the Rundberg HEB is hilarious. The Asians who work it have a "Why are we here?" look on their faces. The spicy guacamole/al pastor rolls are pretty good though. Edited March 30Mar 30 by Deej

I know this sounds unbelievable but Costco now has sushi and it's good. They have nigiri, sashimi and poke. The sashimi isn't cheap. I think it was 4 pieces of salmon, 4 pieces of Tuna and 4 pieces of yellowtail for $37.

We got a sushi tray from a Costco in SOCAL a few years ago on a family vacation, and it was at least as good as the HEB sushi, probably better (I dunno, I ate it on the deck while drinking beer and watching the surf, I wasn't being picky).

Bought the 1lb of Poke expecting my teenage son to be home to split. Got home and wife reminded me he was in Kingsland for the weekend. Wife and I cashed a pound of tuna Poke. It was well worth $17.
April 7Apr 7 I like the rosemary chicken kabobs they have in the meat market, the southwest and mushroom marinated kabobs and just the marinated breast are also good.

April 8Apr 8 Did these two for dinner tonight and it was great. There was a coupon for each. Added a little seasoning to each - did the tenderloin for 25 mins @375 then threw the sides in and did them together for another 25. Only issue is the potatoes optimally need more time than the green beans but it was fine. Perfect meal for 2, or 1 if you're starving (saved a little for lunch tomorrow.

April 9Apr 9 It cracks me up how many HEB products are sold on Amazon and Ebay. The only thing I buy so far are the refried charro beans ($20 for 6 cans) from some dude in Floresville.
