September 25, 20241 yr On 1/29/2019 at 1:53 PM, Brisketexan said: "The" has a shitty take, film at 11:00. Back to the topic.....the story is coming out about the residents who shot the cops. Not much of a criminal record (seriously, a bad check charge for one, that's it). They shot the cops upon the cops making entry. I'm curious as to whether the cops who made entry were in uniform. And whether they announced themselves as cops. Because, otherwise, I can see a counter-narrative pretty easily -- a couple who lives in a bad neighborhood had a group of armed men kick down their door and make entry. And they defended themselves and their homes. I'm FAR from saying that's what happened. I'm just saying that the circumstances so far are at least causing an eyebrow to be raised. On 1/29/2019 at 1:58 PM, Brisketexan said: Also, fuck off -- there's plenty of war on drugs threads around here. Go pants yourself on one of those, and let the rest of us talk about the subject of THIS thread -- a shootout that is looking a bit odd. On 1/29/2019 at 2:37 PM, Brisketexan said: I sure would like some audio/video of the event to verify such announcement. And hollering "POLICE!" as you break down a door isn't exactly a bona-fide announcement -- that can just as easily be a bunch of shitheads using that to buy them a few seconds of confusion on my part to shoot my ass as they rob my house. As I understand (and again, I'm looking for any additional info), the cops shot were 1) all on the initial entry team, and those cops were 2) NOT in uniform. There were uniformed cops as part of the backup team. Again, I'd like to sort those facts out with specificity. I'm just putting this all in the hopper with the fact that the shooters were in their 50s and had no meaningful criminal record before this. That doesn't exactly match up with "house of drug dealers armed to the teeth and ready to kill." They shot at the cops with a .357 and a shotgun. Not uncommon "home defense" weapons. I just want to know more. Ahem. The first few pages of this thread are...pretty enlightening. And hell yes I'm going to remind you that I noted that this smelled funny before the smoke from all the gunpowder had even cleared. STOP. GIVING. COPS. THE BENEFIT. OF. THE DOUBT.
September 26, 20241 yr Not saying ACAB, but when a story like this first pops up…..the first thing that you should consider is that ACAB. You’ll probably come out on the right side of the argument and history that way.
September 26, 20241 yr The bootlickers are surprisingly quiet. They sure weren’t on the first few pages.

September 26, 20241 yr That is pure hatred right thereMeh. That’s the look of contempt that most cops have for non-cops.Had this raid gone according to plan, none of us would have ever known about the crimes they committed. Now understand that for every one of these that blows up so badly that the truth comes out, 1,000 others go down where the criminal cops utterly fuck the non-cops, with no consequences.
September 26, 20241 yr So he made up some shit so he could get a no knock warrant specifically at that house. Why? Did the occupants have a "fuck pigs" bumper sticker or something?

Did the occupants have a "fuck pigs" bumper sticker or something? You are overthinking sociopathy. The people in that house meant…nothing…to him (them). Their extinguished lives weighed no more to him, as he went to sleep at night, than concerns over whether the eggs in the refrigerator are expired or not. I still suspect that the officers that were shot were actually shot by other officers, but I don’t think we will ever know. Edited September 26, 20241 yr by statsman

Reason published a decent recap of the story: https://reason.com/2024/09/25/former-houston-drug-cop-whose-lies-resulted-in-two-deaths-is-convicted-of-murder/ The cops were reported to all be plain clothes during the raid.

Weren't there some whispers that this rogue "cop gang" was involved in nefarious activities and this was their way of eliminating this couple from the game? (Or am I getting my cop corruption story streams crossed?)
September 26, 20241 yr There was a bitch down the street that phoned in an anonymous complaint of drug dealing on the Tuttles, because she had a beef of some sort. She was convicted a couple of years ago. That got the”investigation” started. It was assigned to Goines, and he handled it like his other investigations. He got a warrant for bogus reasons, brought some “evidence” to the scene in his vehicle, and the rest is history.
September 26, 20241 yr I'd just really love to hear from the bootlickers/consistent cop apologists who came on pretty strong the first few pages of this thread about how it was good that drug dealing thugs got taken down, the cops were all in uniform and announced their presence (that is, they swallowed the initial narrative the cops told as gospel truth). Any lessons learned here?

Did you also pick up on the lesson of "never, ever, ever, ever believe the initial story the cops tell, in any situation?" Because that's a really important takeaway here. If the cops are saying something, the ONLY rational response is to presume they are lying unless and until actual corroborating evidence is provided.
September 26, 20241 yr Punishment phase adjourned for the day. Prosecution got through four witnesses today. Testimony doesn’t pick back up until Wednesday.

Any lessons learned here? I liked the part where you posted something from a court hearing where HPD officers admitted to planting guns on deceased victims to justify a shooting, even calling it "commonplace", and still that dipshit @Zavala called you a tin foil hat wearer.
October 3, 20241 yr So the punishment phase of the trial resumed yesterday, and the case should have been turned back over to the jury this afternoon so that they could determine the sentence. The defense finished their closing arguments, but just as the prosecution started making its closing argument, Goines had some kind of unspecified medical emergency, and was taken out of the courthouse on a stretcher. The judge says the trial will resume after doctors have had a chance to assess the health of Goines, but I haven’t seen any other updates. I wonder if any other twice convicted murderers would be allowed to leave the courthouse without handcuffs.
October 3, 20241 yr Quote One of Goines’ attorneys, Nicole DeBorde, had told jurors during closing arguments that the 60-year-old's "health is destroyed” after being shot in the face during the deadly raid. Purely performative attempt to curry sympathy from the jurors. Edited October 3, 20241 yr by royiv

In football with an injury, fake or legitimate, can create a 10 second run off the clock depending on when it occurs. This stunt err health scare should add more time.
October 3, 20241 yr Let’s see, what did I post recently about this guy…..Fuck that dude. Yup, that about sums it up. I hope they throw it all at him.

"HAVE SYMPATHY FOR ME! I WAS HURT DURING THE MURDERS I COMMITTED!" That's a bold strategy. It will probably work, because inherent social sympathy for cops.
October 3, 20241 yr Probably just going through withdrawal from not having killed any innocent people in a while.
October 3, 20241 yr Entirely too common for someone to claim chest pain when facing legal consequences of their actions (typically happens when they’re in the back of the cop car). The hilarity of it being a cop this time is not lost on me
October 8, 20241 yr How many of y'all think that the lesson cops take from this case will be "well, we shouldn't pull all that criminal shit that Goines pulled?" Vs. how many of y'all think the lesson that cops will take from this case will be "okay, we need to make sure we do a much better job covering our tracks/creating deniability than Goines did?" Rhetorical question, we all already know the answer.

October 8, 20241 yr Watched the sentencing live while eating lunch. Very satisfying. 30 years before he's eligible for parole. He'll be 91 if he lives that long.
October 8, 20241 yr Read an article in the Chronicle that said he’s likely to keep his police pension because he resigned before he was charged with any crimes.
