March 17Mar 17 Homeowners up 20% last year, 21% this year. Price shopped again and USAA still the best rate so we'll stick with them. Auto dropped $2/month, although wife's about to get a new vehicle so that'll blow up too, I'm sure.
March 27Mar 27 Home owners insurance is starting to get the feeling that down the road a 10% deductible, up to 30% depending on area, is going to become the norm. Then you'll have to turn around and get a second policy to cover the 10%+. Starting to see stuff like that in CA. Substantial fire deductible (10%) and then you buy a separate DIC (Difference in Conditions) policy to buy down that deductible to $10K or something for fires that originate within the house. Cost is like $500-$750 or so.
