Love this show. One of the best imho is early on when Opie shoots a mamma bird and then raises the chicks. Upon their release he says ( paraphrasing) The cage sure looks empty pa Andy: yeah

Yep.

The women they had on that show, as mentioned, Barbara Eden... when she gets off the bus, I wanted a time machine to her vagina.

I have no idea what Andy saw in Helen. Thelma Lou was much better of the two.

of the two, Thelma Lou was more likely to take it up the ass.

We never saw Juanita over at the Blue Bird Diner, but I suspect that she was a skanky little slut.

Any time the Darlings came to town was a classic episode.

The loaded goat.  Greatness.

What was the one with the two old ladies that are bootleggers and they keep turning in other bootleggers to get rid of the competition?

We just had a conversation about "Taters!" at dinner tonight...

fucking Darlings.  Dudes were masters at looking like fucking retards.  They could have been wearing A&M hoodies they looked so stupid.

The backing band, the ones that look like retards, are also a real bluegrass band called The Dillards.

"How 'bout  "don't hit your grandma with a great big stick"?

Charlene: "Pa, you know that one always makes me cry"

Holy Crap. Just watched the whole episode. I had no idea. How young was Ronnie Howard?  And Aunt Bee as "Henrietta Perkins?"  Too great!

Juanita was definitely a dirty little slut. It was always classic whenever Barney talked to her on the phone. "Cockadoodledoo!"

Ronnie Howard was the greatest child actor ever,  and there is nobody in 2nd place.  Fucking masterful as a 7 year old.

I disagree. His brother Clint, as little Leon, could steal the show without saying a word.

Only if he was packing a PB&J

Not only was Gilligan on the show, but the Skipper showed up driving a '56 F100, looking for a wife.  He was "picking up" women on the street.

When was he ever NOT packing a pb&j?  Also, when the two T-men show up,to tell Andy about the impending gold truck, one of those 2 guys is Ron and Clint’s dad.

Oh and another all-timer is when Barney buys the used car from that old hustler Mrs. Leah.  Outstanding stuff.

how many episodes was "Sam the Butcher" from the Brady Bunch in?

He was the store clerk at Foley's that wanted to kick Barney's ass, and Andy got the chinaman to take care of him.  He was the farmer selling his shit from a truck at the roadside.  He was the Army recruiter with Earnest T.   And, he was in the gang that sold Barney the car.   He was in a few more, right?

He was also a convict who Barney let escape and then Andy had to capture him while he was on vacation in the mountains also. Barney has deputized Gomer.

He was the hotel dick in the jewel thief episode I think.

Some really cool home movies taken "on set" by the Howard family.

Another favorite of mine is the escaped convict that Andy tricked into taking his boat with the hole in it.

that's the one with the map with the sticky buttons

He (Rance Howard) was in 2 episodes- He was the Governor's driver when Barney tagged the governor's limo for illegal parking:

And the T-man

The one where Barney gives that ticket to that guy and he says the next time he catches Barney out of uniform, he will beat him down. So he wears his uniform everywhere. And the Japanese guy beats the shit out of him.

Man in a Hurry is my favorite episode.  The two scenes on the porch are just great tv.

The farmer shooting at Barney, Barney trying to be tough for the cute nurse.

Yep in a couple  street scenes. When the guy came to town and knew everything about everybody because he'd been taking the Mayberry Gazette and another time as well, but can't remember the exact scene.

Mr. Mc feeby climbing trees, jingling and jangling,  and blowing smoke out his ears....  That Opie could spin a yarn.

Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet.......

THE FUN GIRLS........

The Harlem Globetrotters...  oh wait, that was Gilligan’s Island

There was the show where Opie and another kid competed for the job at the grocer and Opie won only to not show up an let the other kid get it, then Andy hears about it and reems Opie a new one only the find out the other kid needed the job more to help out his family.

Started the show last night on Netflix and going to go through every season in order, I never watched it like this and saw it grow organically. I have seen pretty much every episode of the Barney era but never in order. Getting to see each character introduced and setting up their background. Not sure if I will continue watching after Barney leaves.

I heard Don Knotts was quite the womanizer and drank heavily.

Also played Barney Hefner on "All in the Family."
