Is it time to start tanking?

No, but it is time to start bringing pitchers up from Pawtucket and see what they can do.

Well, that fucking sucked.

Eat a dick, please. Worst of luck in the playoffs this year. (Can’t do much worse than last year, though.)

Thanks. Congrats on being the first defending WS champs in 30 years to never spend a day in 1st place the following season.

Great arbitrary stat.

Now that the coffin’s nailed you can tank to improve draft position, and give younger players some looks. So you’re welcome. Also it might be good idea to never pitch Price in YS again. He’s halfway to getting a plaque in monument park at this rate.

Great idea! Put it right behind that 297’ wall in right-center field.

Worst of luck on your 2nd WS title this century.

Bullpen’d again. I don’t even care if they (somehow) win in extras.

It’s almost comical at this point... almost.

Oh, and Devers goes 6-6... with four doubles.

First one of those in over 110 years.

I like your moxie.... Good on Devers, glad for Sale, but damn it is hard to take night after night.

Sale to the IL. Well, at least they’re already (pretty much) out of it.

Dr. James Andrews. Great.

No TJ for Sale, but he’s likely done for the year (getting some sort of plasma injections).

Oh well, they weren’t winning shit anyways this year. Bounce back in 2020.

Oh ye of little faith.  They are going to use the Sale injury as a rallying cry to reel off a 28-8 run to take the wildcard.  Then go undefeated in the playoffs.

Mookie is still good, btw. In case you were still wondering.

Fuck the Yankees. From here to infinity.

Dombrowski is gone. So that’s something.

That's a good thing.

Interesting to see how they attack FA now.

Full-on tank mode now?

Man, last year was fucking EPIC. I hope “that” team resurfaces in 2020... somehow.

So. I have a connection that has a connection with season tickets. I have lots of miles and and cost is cheap for me. Is Fenway worth it?

Kudos to Brandon Workman.  Notched the final save of the season tonight, giving him 13 saves since July 15th, roughly the all-star break (even after which, he still sometimes shared the closer role) .  not bad for a guy who had been put into lesser roles for his thusfar MLB career.  Great job by a great Longhorn.  Now, if he could only fix the BoSox shitshow of a payroll abortion. .

So, we may have just seen Mookie’s last game with the Red Sox. This is just so fucking weird.

Last year was nice though, right?

Mazel tov!  Seems like a good hire, he did a lot with a little in Tampa.  First task:  figure out the Mookie/JD/payroll conundrum.  Good luck!

It will be a very critical offseason for us this year.  The Mookie and JD decisions are looming large.  How do we address the pitching, both starters and relievers?  Unfortunately it seems like our best hope is just that everyone comes back healthy and have bounceback years.  That sounds like a recipe for disaster to me though.

  • Author

Yep, pretty much.  They won't be able to get a king's ransom for him, but if they can get 2-3 young, team-controlled players or high-level prospects (especially pitchers), they'll sadly have to pull the trigger.

Mookie won't get Trout money, but he'll likely get at least $300-350M a year from now.  Can't necessarily ask for a bounty right now if a player is all but guaranteed to test the market after a season.

Fucking sucks.

Sandy Leon was traded to the Indians for a minor league pitcher.

Well, there goes any sense of moral superiority over the Astros...

I knew we were doing it in some capacity, was just hoping we wouldn't get caught.

yeah, saw that. And then the letter today from the ex-Astro's GM stating the Bench Coach did it without anyone's knowledge. Damn, I liked Cora. But hell, bring on Tek!

  • Author

At this point, I’d be a-ok with rolling the dice with Varitek. Might as well try to wash the hands clean.

(Still open to bringing back Cora in 2022 if things don’t work out, though.)

Released on Twitter. Red Sox official. Don't see it anywhere else though.

Sounds like it was inevitable. Also sounds like an inevitable (massive) suspension is coming soon.

yes, best to just let him go and deal with it away from the club. Bring on Tek.

Just asked my daughter who the next manager should be. She is 17 and not a huge baseball follower. She said she had no idea. I said what about Tek.

her- "Is he still a thing,"

Me- "Yes, they don't take retired players out and shoot them"

Her- "well they did that to Papi.."

I laughed and took a sip of beer.... So I guess she does follow her Dominican smart ass roots.

Sounds like it’s over.

Dustin Pedroia's lengthy comeback attempt endured another roadblock, as the Boston Red Sox second baseman suffered a significant setback with his left knee, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

Pedroia has played just nine games over the past two seasons, collecting three hits in 34 plate appearances while trying to return from a knee injury suffered in 2017 on a slide into second base by Baltimore's Manny Machado. Pedroia last played a game on April 17, 2019.

Pedroia, 36, is now discussing his options with his family, the Red Sox and his representation, sources said.

I was told that the Red Sox should get cleared of any wrong doing in the sign stealing scandal.  Supposedly they never did anything even close to what the Astros did.  Now the guys telling me that are on the team and may just being really biased and in denial but I have no reason to not trust them.  We shall see though.
